Raymond Lee Cooper

Services for Raymond Lee Cooper, 89, of San Angelo will be a visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Monday, January 15th, at Harper Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 16th at Harper Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fairmont Cemetery. 

Raymond Lee Cooper was born January 26, 1928, second of three sons born to Clara Green Cooper and Alfred Cooper of Sonora, Texas. He was raised Baptist. He graduated from Sonora High School and attended Hardin-Simmons, where he played baseball. He served in the Marines at Santa Anna, Ca. during the end of WWII and again during the Korean War. He was also in the Reserves. He married Patsy Stout of Seymour in 1951. After discharge, he opened a cafe in Sonora and drove a delivery truck for Mrs. Baird’s San Angelo Bakery. Patsy and Raymond had two daughters, Phyllis Jo and Alice Ruth. They later divorced. Patsy died in 2011.
Raymond married Sara Baker of San Angelo. They had three children, Martha Ann, Steven Baker and Sally Jane. They later divorced. Sara died in 1982.
Raymond discovered he was good at selling furniture. He worked in Abilene, Amarillo, and San Angelo. Raymond married Faye Ueckert in 1974. They established Cooper Interiors. This began a trend to renovate downtown San Angelo. Mr. Cooper could tell the history of many downtown buildings. Faye had two sons, John Mark and David. Faye passed away in 2013. 
Mr. Cooper had over 50 years sobriety in AA. He advocated and raised funds for facilities for those battling addiction. 
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Alfred Cooper, his older brother Roy Cooper, daughter Phyllis Jo, son Steve, and stepsons John Mark and David Simpler. 
Survivors include Alice (Laron) Peters of Gothenburg, NE, granddaughter Lizette (Bob) Buckley, Edith and Gwyneth, grandson, Levi Peters; daughter-in-law Julie Cooper of Lewisville, granddaughters Stephanie, Rebecca, and Erika; daughters Martha Ann Specht of Schertz, grandsons Reese (Megan) and Luke (Katie) Specht and Olivia, and Sally Cooper of San Angelo; three step grandchildren, Amanda, Bryon, and Catherine Simpler; his younger brother Phillip of Sonora. 
Family requests that memorials be given to AA or the Salvation Army.

Evelyn Adeline Hejl

Evelyn Adeline Hejl left this earth January 9, 2018. Fully confident of a new life with her savior and those who preceded her. 
Mom was born November 3, 1921 to John and Frances Laza in Runnels County. She was part of a close and loving family. They moved to their farm between Mereta and Eola while she was young. She was a graduate of Eola High School in 1939.
Our father, Raymond Hejl, came into Mom’s life and they were married after WWII on December 8, 1946.
Born to Mom and Dad were one daughter Jean and three sons, John, James, and David. They moved to and farmed in the Fairview community from 1954 to 1968.
In 1968 Mom and Dad moved to Austin, Texas. They retired to the Fairview Community in 1985.
Our Mom was a very kind and loving person. She knew that God’s creatures were important to mankind.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, in 1986. She is survived by daughter Jean and husband Don Zappone; son John and wife Sandee; son James and wife Judy; and son David and wife Sharon.
Grandchildren are John Zappone, Marisa Olsson, Alicia Gostylo, Jayme Hejl, Matthew Hejl, Katie Hejl, Travis Hejl, and Steven Hejl.
Great Grandchildren are Naomi and Sadie Gostylo; Maddie Hejl; and Annabeth Olsson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Harper Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Wall Brethren Church with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

Charles W. Ellwood, II

Charles William Ellwood II, 70, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2018 in San Angelo, Texas. Charlie was born March 10, 1947 in Sinton, Texas to Charles and Edith Ellwood. He attended school in Sinton and graduated from Sinton High School in 1965. Charlie went on to attend R.O.T.C. at Southwestern University in San Marcos, TX. He then served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for many years. He often said, “I joined the Air Force to see the world and I saw Big Spring and Lubbock, TX.” He met his wife Velma Jo while stationed in Lubbock. They were married in September of 1972. Their eldest son William was born in Lubbock. They moved to Iraan, TX., in 1976 and later their youngest son Russell Alan was born there. Charlie worked for Marathon Oil company for 23 years and retired. Upon retirement, he and Jo moved to San Angelo where Charlie worked at several jobs, including, McCoy’s Building Supply, Shaffer Funeral Home at Grape Creek and the San Angelo Inn in maintenance. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Russell Alan. He is survived by his wife, Jo, of San Angelo; his son, William Ellwood (Brittany), of Cypress, TX; two sisters, Malinda Crow (Nolen) and Susan Beckett (Alan), of Round Rock, TX; his brother David Ellwood (Molly), of Boerne, TX; his Granddaughter, Vivienne Ellwood, of Cypress, TX; and 5 nieces. The Memorial Service will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home with Boyd Jennings officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

Frances Newman

Frances Dillard Newman passed into God’s loving arms on January 8, 2018. Frances was born February 25, 1934 to Frank and Beulah Dillard in Coleman, Texas. The family moved to San Angelo and Frances completed her education. She attended business school and began her career at Rey Motors, which is now Randall Motors. She worked her way up to office manager, where she worked and retired after 50 years as a devoted employee. After retirement, Frances became an active member and volunteer withSouthland Baptist Church. She loved serving others and was a Stephen Minister till her death. She enjoyed going on mission trips with her church family. She enjoyed traveling with her friends, Sally and Dorothy. They were part of a team of friends known as the Merry Widowers. They loved getting together for games. 
Frances married Lee Roy Newman and they had one son, Terry Lee Newman. The joys of her life were her two granddaughters, Kimberly Springer and Amy Schwertner. They were later replaced by her three great grandchildren, which were her pride and joy. We love you MiMi……..go fly with the angels.
Survivors include Terry Newman and Jackie Newman of Katy, Granddaughter Kimberly and Stephen Springer of Solado and Amy and Lance Schwertner of Fulshear; Great grandchildren, Emarie and Lyle Schwertner and Jace Springer; sisters, Nora Hooker and Elizabeth Lawson; brother, Robert Dillard and multiple nieces and nephews. Pallbearers include Johnny O’Neal and John Economidis, Robert Dillard, Jr., George Randall, Steve Graphus, Donald Lawson and Robert Dillard, Sr. Donations to be made to Southland Baptist “Water for All”. 
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, at Southland Baptist Church, with burial following at Fairmount Cemetery.

Carlos G. Rios, Sr. "Chale"

Carlos Gonzalez Rios, Sr. “Chale” beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away January 8, 2018 at the age of 75. He was born November 18, 1942 in San Angelo, TX. to parents Luis and Petra Rios.
Carlos married Ester Solis on December 8, 1962 and had five beautiful children. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 26, 1974. Carlos worked for Alexander Construction and Central Builders for 57 years. He enjoyed dancing, singing, 4-wheeling, fishing, and Kingdom Hall builds. He was loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to make people smile and laugh. He could think of a song for every subject someone would bring up. He always encouraged his children to make peace and be forgiving, his concern was for them to take care of each other. He saw the best in people and gave without asking anything in return. He knew no strangers, he spoke to everyone he met and was always ready to help. The Fruitage of the Spirit that he most displayed were love, patience, and kindness. His kindness will forever be a beacon to our family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Ester S. Rios; Children Carlos G. Rios Jr. and Maria Rios, David and Ida Rios, AnaVelia and Mario Hernandez, Yolanda S. Rios, Maria Isabel and Terry Kuhlman; Grandchildren Ranae Lively, Joshua and Azalea DelaRosa, Luis and Sara Rios, Emma DelaRosa, Thomas and Heather Rios, Sierra and Jacob Braaten, Caleb Kuhlman, Patricia Rios, Daneila and Andrew Nava, Ethan Kuhlman, Jake Kuhlman, Dylan Kuhlman, and five great grandchildren; His sisters Josefina Andrade, Rebecca Andrade, and Librada “Lilly” Rios. 
He is preceded in death by his parents Luis P. and Petra G. Rios and brother Luis Rios Jr.
A viewing service is to be held Friday, January 12, 2018 from 12-8 PM at Harper Funeral Home 2606 Southland Blvd. A memorial service is to be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 2021 Pulliam St. in San Angelo, TX. His favorite song #38 “He will make you strong” from “Sing out Joyfully” to Jehovah will be sung.

Paula Vick Woods

Paula Vick Woods, age 78, was born in San Angelo, TX on April 5, 1939 and left this Earth on January 8, 2018 from a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Paula’s parents were Joe and Elsie Vick who passed away previously. She married Ronnie Woods in San Angelo on November 25, 1955.
Paula attended Lake View High School and San Angelo Business College. She worked 25 years at Ethicon, retiring 1995. While there she received many awards and had the opportunity to go to Puerto Rico.
Paula lived in San Angelo all her life. She and Ronnie enjoyed hunting and dancing together. She was a long-time member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church.
Paula is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ronnie Woods, son, Ricci Woods, daughter, Michelle Wagner, and son, Chanston Woods. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and sister, Carolyn Vick Preston of Blanco, TX.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents and son, Steve Woods who passed April 1, 2012.
Service will be Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Meadows Baptist Church on Knickerbocker Road with Pastor, Mack Roller, officiating and music provided by Scott Cotton.
Arrangements are with Harper Funeral Home
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread
And Forgive us our trespasses.
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And Lead us not into Temptation, but deliver us from Evil.
For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory, Forever.
Amen.

Kimberley Kaye Waterhouse

Kimberley Kaye Waterhouse, 63, passed away on January 4th at Shannon Medical Center. She is survived by her mother, Polly Waterhouse, two sisters and their husbands, Leslee and Gary Bowen, and Kelley and Chip Cole, and her brother, Randy and his wife, Debbie. She is also survived by her special nephews and nieces: Trent and Lane Bowen, Chili, Judson, Jess, and Annabelle Cole, and Leisel Bailey. Kim graduated from the University of Texas Law School and practiced law in San Angelo for many years. There will be a private family service, but any memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church in San Angelo or your favorite charity.

Fred Karl "Pat" Jungk

Fred Karl “Pat” Jungk, Jr., 87, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at home. He was born March 20, 1930 to Fred Karl and Zola Parker Jungk. Pat grew up and spent most of his life in Sonora. He was baptized in the Baptist Church as a teenager; graduated from Sonora High School; and held many jobs including helping build the Sonora hospital, working on seismograph crews in West Texas and was the “fix-it man” for his mother at the family motel, the Old Spanish Trail camp, established in 1928 by his parents.
Pat served in the Army during the Korean War from February 1951 thru December 1952. After serving his Country, he attended and graduated Barber School in San Antonio.
Pat married Loretta Hendricks and they had a son, Gregory Allen Jungk.
Pat was a barber in Eldorado for several years. He married Dorthy Gulden on August 9, 1964 in San Angelo and worked as a plumber’s helper. In 1965, after his mother’s retirement, they moved to Sonora to operate the motel for the next 45 years until age and health problems forced them to retire. They had a daughter, Karla Jan Jungk, who helped run the motel until she graduated from high school and went off to college.
Pat had many talents and could fix almost anything. He and Dorthy did all of the repairs and remodeling including roofing, painting, plumbing, etc. over the years. Pat also had his pilot’s license and his own plane. He loved fishing, visiting friends, meeting strangers who stayed at the motel, country music, playing his guitars and learning to clog in his 60’s. Pat loved it so much and was the only man in the West Texas Cloggers group. He loved “his girls” and considered them some of his best friends. Pat also loved entertaining and playing with his grandchildren as well as all other children.
Pat is proceeded in death by his parents; sister Daphne Wheatley, who served as a nurse in the Army; niece Sherry Wilder; and parents-in-law Frank and Billie Gulden. 
Pat is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorthy of Sonora, son Greg of Odessa, daughter Karla Steppe and husband Scott of San Angelo; Granddaughters, Tori Smart and husband Gary of Odessa, Victoria Steppe of San Angelo and Hailey and Morgan Jungk of Odessa; great grandsons, Barrett Kael and Holden Zachary (who will arrive in late March ) Smart. Pat is also survived by his sister Mary Jungk Paris of Santa Fe, NM; nieces Debra Peveto and Phyllis Fukuda both of Bridge City, Lisa Stringfield and husband Randy of Los Alamos, NM; nephew Jeffery Wheatley and wife Cindy of Orange; a special cousin, Joe Mussey and wife Joyce of Alpine; brothers-in-law Frank Gulden of Miles and Charles Gulden of Yuma, AZ; special daughter adopted by love, Maggie Coronado, along with her husband, children, and grandchildren; and special daughter and mother to his granddaughters, Driscilla “Drissy” Hicks Jungk Littlepage and her husband Scott Littlepage of Oklahoma City, OK; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many many special animals over his many years and his most recent “baby” Cotton who he called his “little bunny rabbit”.
During Pat’s recent illness Kay Rowlett cared for him as well as the rest of the family. Her bigger than life personality made her part of our family.
Services will be held at a later date in Sonora.
