Callahan John Douglas

John Douglas Callahan, 78, San Angelo, Texas, went to be with his Lord on 3 May 2020 after a long struggle with health, surrounded by his wife and daughters. Born 15 September 1941 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Parents: John W. Callahan and Alice A. Tondreau. John attended Saint Edward’s School in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education. John married the love his life, Karin Klug on 1 August 1963, in Bitburg, Germany while serving in the United States Air Force. Chief Master Sergeant (USAF, Ret) John Callahan, “The Chief,” served his country honorably for 30 years. A highly decorated Airman, his tours included Vietnam, and Europe during the Cold War. John was a natural marksman and a skilled angler. He had a passion for technology, photography, and traveling. His mentorship, canny sense of humor, and leadership leave indelible marks on those who shared in his journey. John is survived by: Spouse: Karin Callahan; Children: Jacqueline (David) Kerry, Angie (Phil) Lowden; Grandchildren: Marcus (Bonnie) Kerry, Mathew (Kate) Kerry, Maria Kerry, Emily (Robert) Delk, and Kelsey Lowden; Great Grandchildren: Addison and Emmerson Kerry, Olivia Delk, and Luke Kerry; Siblings: Mary Callahan-Medeiros, Alan Callahan, Carolyn (Anton) Schlereth, Ralph Callahan, Joanie Greenberg, and Debbie Callahan; Preceded in death by his parents, John W. Callahan and Alice A. Tondreau.

A Mass service is scheduled for 10 AM on 7 May 2020 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 20 East Beauregard Ave, San Angelo Texas. Consistent with the actions taken by many churches, congregations, and places of worship across the state, employees, volunteers, and attendees MUST wear cloth face coverings (over the nose and mouth). When seating please skip a row, members in the same family may sit together, and then every separate family should sit 6 feet apart. Interment to take place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX. Due to Corona Virus the date is TBA. Bruton Martha Lynn

Martha Lynn Bruton (Haynes) died on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, in San Angelo.

Martha was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on October 8th, 1952. She graduated from high school in Jenks, Oklahoma in 1971. She was a multifaceted woman, that worked in upholstery, as a boot maker, a bartender, a nurse, and homemaker in her adult life.

She met Jimmy Lynn Bruton after high school and the two stayed friends throughout the years and got married in May 1994. They soon had a beloved daughter, Tara, on June 27th, 1994. Jimmy passed on May 2011 and left Martha widowed.

Martha was an active member of St. Paul Presbyterian church. She supported paralyzed veterans, St Labra Indian School, and Africa Imports.

In addition to her husband Jimmy, Martha was preceded her in death by her parents, Thurman Clark Pierce and Esther May Evans; and by two brothers, brothers Milton Ray Pierce and Thurman Clark Pierce, Jr.

The family would like to give appreciation to the hospice and nursing staff that cared for Martha.

She is survived by her daughter Tara-Lynn D. Bruton; a grandson Abraham D.P. Beard; her brother R. Garland Haynes and his wife, Clara Gresham; his nephews, Tyler and wife Christa and Bryce and wife Emily Haynes; great nieces, Averie, Hadley, and Blakely Haynes; her cousins Barbara Lynn and her husband Mark Davis Rappold and Mike Andrews and his wife Alicia; and a sister-in-law, Sharalee Pierce.

A memorial service will be held May 16th at 9 am at St Paul Presbyterian Church 11 N. Park in San Angelo, Texas. Cremation services were provided by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Curry Jr. Kenneth

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Kenny Curry of San Angelo, Texas on May 2, 2020 after a heroic battle with cancer. Born in Big Spring, Texas, July 29, 1952 to Patsy and Kenneth Curry. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1970. He went on to attend Howard College where he helped to start the Rodeo Club. He married Diana Guynes, the love of his life in 1976. They raised two wonderful children, Jack and Valencia. He worked for Enterprise Pipeline for 35 years as an electrical technician. He also enjoyed many hobbies including carpentry, fishing, and taking care of all of his animals to include dogs, cats, many deer "the girls" and all of the birds he could feed. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Dallas Cowboys, and any Nascar race around. He loved to travel with his family, enjoying many outdoor adventures. He had a strong faith in his belief of Jehovah god and the promise that we will meet again. He is survived by his loving mother, Patsy Curry of San Angelo, TX; sister, Connye Ward of Odessa, TX; brother, Prentice Curry of Los Angeles, CA; devoted wife, Diana and his two loving children, Jack Curry of Round Rock, TX and Valencia Garrett of Birmingham, AL. He is also survived by his four grandsons that he loved more than anything, Baylor (11) and Hudson (5) Garrett and Capp (10) and Coy (5) Curry. He was loved dearly by family and friends and will truly be missed. A memorial service will follow at a later date due to COVID-19.

Brasher Charlene "Mimi"

Charlene “Mimi” Brasher passed away on May 3, 2020, and there is no doubt she will make heaven a happier, more colorful place. She lived a fun-filled life full of love and creativity. She was born August 8, 1937 to J.C. and Ellen Eudy in Big Spring, Texas. She married Dan Brasher on February 2, 1957, and together they had two beautiful daughters. Over the years she worked as a designer and florist. She enjoyed anything where she could let her personality shine. She was inducted into the Big Spring High School Hall of Fame as an artist, and she was Rookie Actress of the Year at the Lamesa Community Players.
Known as Mimi to many she was always full of creativity, especially when she was at the flower shop or making the prettiest prom corsages and homecoming mums. Mimi was always ready to cheer on the Dallas Cowboys or watch any sport. Some of her favorite memories were the summer trips she took with her grandchildren where she taught them to love the water as much as she did. Mimi would have lived on the beach with Jimmy Buffet if she could. Her zest for life was truly contagious.
Charlene was proceeded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her daughters Suzie Wilde and husband Daniel of San Angelo, and Cindy Cave and husband Kevin of Ackerly. Her grandchildren Bill Dan Langley, wife Gigi and son Cotton of San Angelo; Justin Cave, wife Maddie and children Jackson and Reese of Ackerly; and Jayci Cave and future husband Anthony Bishop of Lubbock. She is also survived by her sister Freeda Billingsley and husband Robert of San Angelo.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Concho Valley Home for Girls Children’s Emergency Shelter at conchokids.org.

French Elizabeth

Elizabeth Hunter Dawson French of San Angelo, TX passed away on April 30, 2020 at the age of 75. "Liz" was born April 9, 1945 in Edinburgh, Scotland, to Robert Campbell and Helen Boswell Dawson and grew up in the Leith area of Edinburgh. She attended Leith Academy and graduated at the top of her class.

In December 1965, Liz came to Syracuse, New York, where she married John French (12-30-65), who was in the Air Force and attending Syracuse University. John had spent the previous three years stationed in Scotland.

Liz then became an Air Force wife and accompanied her husband on his travels to Turkey, Maryland, Texas, Okinawa, and finally back to San Angelo where she lived until her death.

She was a Red Cross volunteer and a manager at Jim Bass Ford for 35 years. She was also a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be sorely missed.

Liz is survived by her husband of 54 years, John French; her son Michael French and his wife Aimee, and grandchildren Chad Ponder and wife Jackie, Lauren French and Dawson French; her daughter Lisa Alexander and her husband Bill, and her grandson Will Alexander, all of San Angelo, TX. Her sister Roberta (Ray) Dawson and nephew David Weddell of Edinburgh, Scotland and niece Liz Sheen and husband Kevin and their children, of Victoria, British Columbia.

Per Liz's wishes there will be no services.

Wells Bradford Weston

Bradford Weston Wells, known as “Brad” by most, passed away on April 10, 2020.
Brad was born on September 4, 1959, in Fort Stockton, Texas, the son of Harvey L Wells and Shirley Gerbert Wells. As a child he attended schools in Fort Stockton, TX and in Oklahoma graduating in 1977 from Ft. Towson High School, Ft. Towson, OK.
Brad earned his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business and Finance from Oklahoma State University before returning to Ft. Stockton to open Golden Fried Chicken then obtaining his Real Estate brokers license to manage Wells Realty. Brad moved to San Angelo to work for the Tom Green County Appraisal District.
Brad was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Texas Association of Appraisal Districts, and Texas Association of Assessing Officers.
Beyond the work of life, Brad was known for volunteering in many organizations within the communities he lived. The list of volunteerisms included Ft. Stockton Jaycees, Ft. Stockton Water Carnival, Ft. Stockton EMS, San Angelo Cub Scouts, San Angelo Boy Scouts, San Angelo Volunteers in Public Schools, Sierra Lights and Tom Green County 4-H Shot Gun Shooters.
Brad loved fishing, hunting, skiing, waves crashing on the beach, and being a raconteur every now and then. But, more than anything else, he adored his family. Those surviving him are wife Misty of San Angelo, sons Spencer Wells and Hudson Wells of San Angelo, Trevor Wells and Ashley of Woodward, OK, and daughter Amanda Nielson and Jason of Mooreland, OK. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Clair Nielson, Hagen Nielson, Bowie Mac Nielson, Emma Wells, Becca Wells and Aubree Wells.
A memorial service will be held at a future date in order to abide by the current social distancing guidelines suggested for the public.
The family request in lieu of flowers a contribution may be made to one of the following: The San Angelo Texas A&M University Mothers’ Club Memorial Scholarship Fund (In Memory of Brad Wells: PO Box 62314, San Angelo, TX 76906), Jason or Amanda Nielson (FBO Hagen Nielson Brucks Syndrome Medical Account: 216822 ECR 398. Mooreland, OK 73852). The Wells family would like to extend gratitude to San Angelo Aggie Moms, The Peacock Group, the Tom Green County Appraisal District and Sierra Lights Neighbors for their love, kindness and support at this time.

Low Betty

Betty Low of Mertzon passed away on Saturday, April 25th, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Odessa after a brief illness. She was 89 years old.
Betty was the daughter of James and Jean Parrish. She came from pioneer Ballinger people, which was a great source of pride for her. Her maternal grandparents were Asa Deveraux and Beatrice Grant Cordill and her paternal grandparents were Thomas James and Myrtle Jones Parrish.
Born in Ballinger on July 16, 1930, Betty’s father was called to service when she was 10 years old. She and her brother enjoyed many adventures in the different Army bases and towns throughout the South before returning to Ballinger where she graduated at the age of 16. She attended North Texas State Teacher’s College in Denton.
She married Riley Low on June 18, 1954, and a few years later they moved their family to Mertzon. They loved their small town life and the deep connection to community that comes with that. They made lifelong friendships that blessed them both to the end.
Betty was pure fun, and to know her was to be her friend. She was the rock that will continue to be treasured by all.
Betty is survived by her sons, Bobby Low of Lubbock, David Low and wife Claudia of Wall, daughter Laura Cunningham and husband Pat of Odessa; grandchildren Nick Cunningham of Cleveland, Danielle Walts and husband Matt of Wall, Max Cunningham and fiancé Madison Shoftner of Houston, Hunter Cunningham and fiancé Brittany Forrest of South Royalton, VT, Sydney Low of Houston and Jake Low of Lubbock; great-grandchildren Blake and Bowen Walts of Wall; brother Jim Parrish and wife Deanie of Indian Wells, CA; brothers-in-law Everett Low of Dallas and Charlie Low and wife Maxene of San Angelo; nephews Mark Low and wife Debbie, and Matt Low all of Dallas, and Doug Parrish and wife Susan of Atlanta; nieces Sheri Parrish of Cathedral City, CA, Sarilyn Lucas and husband Mitch of Ft. Worth and Marilyn Foster and husband Ted of Normal IL. She is also survived by her best friend Ann Whitley and the infamous “Birthday Club” girls.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Riley and sisters-in-law Bunny Low and Billie Low.
A private family graveside service was held at the Mertzon Cemetery on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, officiated by longtime family friend Loye Tankersley. The family would have loved nothing more than to have had a community wide celebration of Betty’s life, however this was not possible due to the COVID-19 mandates. Her treasured friendships were a gift to us as well.

Dornell Willie Mitchell,72,of San Angelo, Texas went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 1,2020 in San Angelo, TX. The family will receive friends for visitation from 2pm-5pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Dornell was born September 13,1947 in San Angelo, Texas to Willie and Louise Gentry Mitchell. He grew up in San Angelo, TX and went to Central High School. He was a loving Son,Brother and Uncle. Dornell met Sandra Wilson on June 15, 2014 on Father’s day in San Angelo, TX where they instantly fell in love, he was the love of her life. He loved taking care of her and they loved doing things together all the time. He loved his Dallas Cowboys, playing Dominoes and loved to show off his good ole’ Potato Salad and homemade Salsa. He loved going to church at San Angelo Greater I.M.E where he was a Deacon there. He loved helping with one of the members of his church fix up rent houses. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Dornell was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Louise and his brothers Roger, Steve, Jerry, Herbert and Carl Mitchell. He is survived by his sister Annie Mae Mitchell of Dallas,TX, his 2 brothers Clifton Mitchell of San Angelo, TX and Jimmy Mitchell of Dallas,TX, Osie Thomas and Raymond, his nieces Carla Limuel-Mitchell, Dorothy Mitchell,nephews P.J. Mitchell and Charles Mitchell.He was also survived by the love of his life of almost 6 years, Sandra Wilson and her kids and sister, he treated as his own La’shawna Wilson, Byrd Wilson, DeeDee Dawson and numerous other nieces,nephews, other family members and close friends. He will always thank Rev. Joseph Suiters through all the support he has given to the family.
