Woman and Two Children Killed By Drunk Driver

RANKIN, TX – A woman and her two daughters were killed earlier this month by a drunk driver.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Oct. 3 at 6:50 p.m., troopers with the Department of Public Safety was dispatched to the St. Hwy. 349, just 18 miles north of Rankin for the report of a major crash.

When the troopers arrived they found a 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 and a 2002 Nissan Maxima that had crashed in the roadway.

The troopers and EMS immediately attempted to help all of the passengers. The driver of the Dodge was Fabia Esquivel, 28, of Midland. He was taken to the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa where he was later pronounced dead.

The passenger in the Dodge, a 4-year-old, was transported to the Rankin County Hospital but was later released.

The occupants in the Nissan were 30-year-old Kristina McCrary of Rankin and her two children Rylee, 9, and Reece Ramos, 4, were all killed in the crash and were pronounced dead on the scene. They were all wearing their seatbelts.

After further investigation troopers determined the Dodge was traveling north when he crossed over the center stripe crashing head on with the Nissan.

DPS Troopers stated that Esquivel's blood had a BAC of .17. That is double the legal limit. He was also driving with his own child in the car.
