Patsy Ruth Reed

08/29/2024 - 10:46 , by TKing09

Patsy “Pat” Ruth Reed, passed away peacefully in San Angelo, TX at the age of 91, on Sunday, August 25, 2024, after a brief illness. Pat was born on October 27, 1932 in Camden, Arkansas, to Thomas Graham Milner and Dessie Dale Milner. She was the third of four children. Pat graduated from Watson Chapel High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, in 1950.

Pat married Bill Reed, on August 10th, 1951. She and Bill celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in August of 2023, four months before his passing. They began their marriage while Bill was still in the Air Force, stationed at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. After Bill’s discharge, they lived in Ft. Worth, Texas; Big Spring, Texas; Shreveport, Louisiana; back to Big Spring; Austin, Texas and then the last 17 years in San Angelo, where Pat would often say was the best place they had ever lived.

At the age of 25, she studied the word of God, and believing that Christ was the son of God, was baptized and became a Christian. She remained a faithful Christian all her life. She was a member of the 9th and Main church of Christ. One of her favorite things was teaching the 3-year-old Bible class. She and Bill led their children to Christ. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Early in their marriage, they would attend the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport with high school classmates “The Browns”, to see them perform on the Hayride. Pat loved to tell the story of meeting a very young Elvis Presley, and how she and Bill got to sit and visit with him before his turn to perform.

Pat began taking ceramic lessons in Shreveport, where she excelled, winning many awards including a “Freddie”, the highest award given in hobby ceramics. After moving to Big Spring in 1970, she began a very successful home business of teaching classes in ceramics and porcelain. After moving to Austin, she again opened classes and it wasn’t long before she had a waiting list of ladies wanting to take her classes. She gained many lifelong friendships teaching “the ladies”.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her brothers Graham Jr, and Dwayne, and her sister Peggy.

Pat is survived by her children and their spouses; Tom and Georgie Johnson; Deborah Carol (Debbie) and Glen Braswell; Donna and Rick Jenkins; and Dennis and Ginger Reed. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bryan (Gina) Braswell, Christi (Shane) Drewry, Matthew Carroll (Carol Anne) Braswell, Heather Brown, Bridget Carol (Les) McDonald, Crystal (Lance) Modawell, William Shane (Mandi) Reed, Walter Paden (Reagan) Reed, Tanya (Jonathan) Hinckley and Nicole McLaughlin; 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild as well as numerous nieces, nephews and three step-grandchildren.

Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons: Bryan Braswell, Matthew Carroll Braswell, William Shane Reed, Walter Paden Reed, Jadon Braswell, Tyler Reed Braswell, Luke Modawell, Colton Reed McDonald and Walter Finn Reed.

A visitation will be held from 5 pm – 7 pm, Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A private family service will be held.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff for all their kindness and care at Shannon, the Allison House, Baycrest and Concho Hearts Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s name to World Video Bible School, 25 Lantana Lane, Maxwell, TX 78656-4231, or Gospel Broadcasting Network, 8900 Germantown Rd, Olive Branch, MS 38654.

Amy Sue (McHorse) Frazier

08/29/2024 - 10:42 , by TKing09

Loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Amy Sue McHorse Frazier passed away in San Angelo on August 18, 2024 at age 62. She was born January 26, 1962 in Menard, TX; when Joan and Slim had no baby name picked out, Dr Westphal suggested his wife’s name - and so she was named Amy.

Raised in Menard, Amy was a member of MHS Class of ‘80. She married Stanley Frazier on March 27, 1981, and she, Stanley and Sid welcomed Brent in December.

Amy worked as dispatcher for the sheriff’s office before obtaining her EMT certification. She worked for and later was director of Menard EMS as EMT and Paramedic for 34 years.

Amy was preceded in death by Stanley, her parents, daughter Catherine Edwards and other family and friends.

She is survived by Brent and Wendy Frazier, Sid and Yuko Frazier, her beloved grandchildren Ellison, Emersyn, Issey, Sean, Keleigh, Chloe, Chrissy and Katey and great-grandchildren Paizlee and Alana.

Her siblings are Connie Weant, Mike and Denise McHorse, Sharon and Bobby Halfmann, Karen and Reed Wilson, and Scott and Angie McHorse. Amy leaves many beloved nieces and nephews in the McHorse and Frazier families, many cousins and numerous close friends.

Amy was proud of Brent, Wendy and their family and she enjoyed attending sporting events to see her granddaughters play softball and basketball. She was delighted recently to be present when Brent was sworn in as Sheriff of Concho County. Amy was very proud of Sid’s success in his military and post-military career, Yuko’s achievements and their family’s accomplishments. A cancer survivor herself, she was thrilled when she learned that Sid’s battle with cancer was also successful. She often bragged to her friends about all of her family and was a very proud “Mimi.”

In 2001, Amy, Stanley, Connie and several animal advocates started an animal rescue they named Critter Shack. Her love of animals lasted her entire lifetime - her passing leaves a void in the world of rescue and in the hearts of her much-loved rescue family. Her efforts to save animals allowed this small-town girl who had never been to another state to travel to 44 states and several Canadian provinces. Her favorite destinations included New York City, Nashville, Memphis, Niagara Falls, Washington DC, Atlanta, New Brunswick and Branson and she loved to tell stories of her travels.

Amy loved her family and friends, her pets, and fishing. We can just see her, sitting beside Stanley on a riverbank, both holding a cane pole, surrounded by loved ones - including pets, of course - healthy once again and at peace.

In lieu of flowers, Amy’s family asks for memorials to Critter Shack, PO Box 192, Wall, TX 76957 or donate option at crittershack.org

A memorial service is planned for 10:00 Saturday, September 21 at First Baptist Church, 101 Burleson Street, Eden TX. Please join us to celebrate Amy’s life.
