Sherry Pauline Price

03/18/2024 - 09:23 , by TKing09

Sherry Pauline (Conway) Price of San Angelo, TX, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on March 12, 2024, after a long struggle with health issues and kidney disease. Sherry is no longer in pain, no longer suffering, and can be free of this earthly form. She had just celebrated her 74th birthday surrounded by loving family a short time ago.

Sherry was born on January 5, 1950, in Hondo, TX, the first child of Chris Daniel (CD) Conway, Jr. and Mary Lee (Hoover) Conway. Growing up as a young girl, Sherry attended numerous primary schools all over Texas as the family travelled around with her father’s work in road construction. In 1962, the Conway family settled down in San Angelo and it became Sherry’s hometown as well for many years to come. Attending San Angelo Central High School during the 1960’s, Sherry received her GED in 1969.

In her teenage years, Sherry was instrumental in the rearing of her three younger brothers, helping to take care of them while at home, just like a big sister would, lessons that would later be invaluable in the raising of her own daughter as a single mom. She held a special connection to her first brother, Chris, as they shared the same birthday, 2 years apart. Sherry worked at Luby’s in the Village and later held other positions including being one of the first servers at the top of the Hemisfair Tower of Americas in San Antonio during the 1968 World’s Fair. Sherry always loved to serve and help others.

Remaining in San Angelo, with an entrepreneurial business spirit, in the early 80s Sherry opened her own craft store, selling plaster moldings and hand painted crafts. In the late 80s, Sherry went to work in the banking industry holding carious positions at Southwest Bank, First Financial, and San Angelo National Bank and then at Texas Bank in the early 2000’s. Later in life, she worked with her husband, Gerry Price, at Wilson Land Surveying, filing surveys and handling the general accounting for the business until her health issues took hold. A fierce and strong force to be reckoned with, Sherry strived to work hard all her life, no matter the task, doing whatever it took to get the job done. There wasn’t a challenge that Sherry wouldn’t meet head-on or a friend she didn’t help along the way.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Gerry Price of San Angelo, a daughter, Dawn Michelle and husband Adrian Torres of Eden, brother, Bill and wife Deb Conway of Plano, 2 stepdaughters, Christal Price, Holly and husband Steve Thurman, a stepson, Hunter Price, 3 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 5 nieces. Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, father, and two brothers, Chris Daniel Conway, III and Donald Curtis Conway, and her mother-in-law, Mary Wilson and father-in-law, William C. Wilson, Jr.

Sherry’s bright spirit and loving presence will be missed by her family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to the American Kidney Fund in Sherry’s memory.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Harper Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00pm. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Fairmount Cemetery at 11:00am. Pallbearers will be Adrian Torres, Junior Torres, Kyler Price, Steve Plowman, Hunter Price, and Steve Thurman.

We the family would like to send a special thank you to Shannon Hospital and Staff that cared for Sherry. Would like to also thank Hospice of San Angelo and staff (Christina and Brittney), Regency and Staff for the loving care they provided.
