Morgan Chalmas Riley

02/01/2024 - 09:43 , by TKing09

Morgan C. Riley, “Mo”, of San Angelo, TX peacefully went to be with Jesus January 30, 2024 at the age of 89.

He was born in Artesia, NM on the joyful day of September 10, 1934 to Ruby Hattie Johnston Riley and Charles Phillip Riley, Sr. Morgan was the sixth of nine siblings who grew up on a farm in Lytle, TX. The many stories of his childhood including barn cats to playing in the fields, told of Morgan’s playful and adventurous spirit. He was always one to joke around and give his loved ones a good laugh.

Morgan’s greatest love in life was for his Lord and Savior, but when Barbara Jean Hardcastle entered his life she became the close second. Morgan and Barbara were married on July 25, 1955 in Palm Beach AFB, Florida. Together they created a legacy of love and marriage their children and grandchildren have been blessed to witness. After 68 years married, Morgan still called Barbara his “girlfriend” with the sweetest admiration.

In 1953, Morgan joined the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean and Cold Wars. As part of the Alaskan Air Command, he was stationed at Mt. Sparrevohn, a remote radar station then later at Palm Beach AFB. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1957 becoming a proud American Veteran.

Morgan had a love for learning, always proud of his high school alma mater, The Lytle Pirates, and upon his discharge from the Air Force he continued his education at Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos, TX. After “cramming four years of college into three”, he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Morgan briefly taught English to migrant students in South Texas. He then began a long career in the Texas University system as a book store manager at Southwest Texas State, Midwestern State, and in 1967, came to Angelo State University from which he retired in 1993. After his retirement, he worked along side his boss, wife Barbara, at Olio Inc., until their retirement in 2005, when they began building memories through world travel.

Because of his lifelong love of football, Morgan officiated games from junior high to college level for nearly 30 years and was selected to officiate the 1990 Texas High School All Star Football Game. He served in the roles of Secretary and President of the San Angelo SFOA.

Morgan’s greatest passions in life were his faith and family. As a member of Southland Baptist Church, he served many years as a Deacon and on numerous committees. Sharing his faith went beyond serving in his church. His gentle, patient, and loving character represented that of Jesus. He was devoted to daily Bible study, fellowship with others, and the teaching and mentoring of those who knew him.

In the legacy of their marriage, Morgan and Barbara were blessed with their children Mark (Cindy) Riley and Robin (Terry) Bahlman. Grandchildren, Cooper (Whitney) Riley, and Julie (Clint) Halfmann; Cody (Kenna) Bahlman, Katy (Ryan) Woodruff, and Ryan Bahlman, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, February 2nd from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Southland Baptist Church Multi-Purpose Center. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3rd at 1:00pm at Southland Baptist Church followed by burial at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled through Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo. TX.

In lieu of flowers & in the giving spirit of Morgan please consider a donation to your favorite charity.

Rodney Carl Floyd

02/01/2024 - 09:34 , by TKing09

Rodney Carl Floyd joined family and friends in Heaven on January 29, 2024. He was born in San Angelo, Texas, on August 26, 1960, to parents Travis Carl and Norma Jean Floyd. The Floyds moved to Big Spring, Texas, where Rodney attended school, and most importantly he met his wife of 44 years, Shawn. Rodney built a successful career based on his commitment to serving others. He earned the trust of his customers and made friends along the way at OPI Oil Industries, Mustang Chevrolet, Gage Van Horn and, since 1992, Mr. Insurance. Rodney’s life was well lived; full of faith, family, friends, fishing, optimism, and an unmatched work ethic.

Rodney is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandra Nugent. Rodney is survived by Shawn, their two children and their spouses, Courtney and Luke Schmidt (Spokane, Washington) and Cody and Brittany Floyd (Westminster, Colorado), his brother and wife, Robert and Kim Floyd (San Angelo, Texas), mother-in-law Carol Stephens (Austin, Texas), and brother-in-law and his wife, Rusty and Shari Stephens (Liberty Hill, Texas), sister-in-law and her husband, Sharon and Scott Campbell (Lubbock, Texas), brother-in-law Wayne Nugent (Richmond, Texas) as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. His most cherished family being his grandchildren, Madison and Parker Schmidt and Ellie Floyd.

A celebration of Rodney’s life will be held at his home church, Sierra Vista United Methodist Church in San Angelo, Texas, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Rodney Floyd Special Needs Children's Fund by contacting The San Angelo Area Foundation (www.saafound.org) or a charity of your choosing.

The Rodney Floyd Special Needs Children's Fund was created in 2016 by friends of Rodney to provide assistance to organizations which help special needs children, including Ronald McDonald House in Houston, Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, SVUMC Children's Bed Project in San Angelo, and the CASA of San Angelo through the Children's Advocacy Center.

When friends and family of Rodney Floyd wanted to create a fund at the San Angelo Area Foundation in his honor, Rodney was hesitant, feeling undeserving of such a tribute. In a true testament to Rodney’s altruism, he agreed knowing the Rodney Floyd Special Needs Children’s Fund would improve the quality of life for children. Rodney’s selfless generosity will continue in perpetuity and children living with disabilities will forever benefit from the legacy created by faith, family, and friends.

Our family asks you to celebrate Rodney, by loving others, spending time with family and friends, working hard and doing the “right thing.”

A special thank you to the Sierra Vista UMC Community, Rodney’s business partners and team at Mr. Insurance, Dr. Ty Hughston, Dr. Raj Cheruku, Dr. Chitra Hosing and the nurses who cared for him so well at Shannon Hospital, Shannon Clinic and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Sieglinde "Siggy" Barbara Mueller

01/30/2024 - 09:52 , by TKing09

With profound sorrow yet cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Sieglinde "Siggy" Barbara Mueller on January 10, 2024, at her home in San Angelo, Texas. Siggy was 60 years of age, a beacon of light and love to all who were blessed to know her.

Born under an autumn sky in Wallstadt, Mannheim, Germany, to parents Helga Kaethe Federkiel and Horst Miller, Siggy was a beloved sister to Manuela. Her early years in Germany laid the foundation of a spirit both resilient and nurturing—a spirit that would guide her throughout her life.

Embracing both the value of hard work and the pursuit of dreams, Siggy achieved a certification in office management through her trade school education and embraced a new beginning as she became a proud United States Citizen on February 5, 1997. The communities of Moses Lake, Washington, and San Angelo, Texas, were graced by her presence, her enthusiasm for life, and her compassionate heart.

Siggy's love for swimming mirrored the fluidity and grace with which she lived her life. Beyond the water, her talents shone brightly in her artistic pursuits—painting, sketching, baking, cooking, and jewelry-making were not just hobbies but extensions of her soul, gifts she shared generously.

A fervent advocate for animals, Siggy supported the ASPCA and extended her goodwill as a community cornerstone, notably serving as a captain for the cancer walk for four years. Her leadership and conviction in these roles illuminated the path for many to follow in her footsteps of service and advocacy.

Her legacy is lovingly carried forward by her daughter, Steffanie Caudle, and her husband, Jeremy; her son, Robert Geiger, and his wife, Kimberley; and her precious grandchildren—Scottland, Sami Jo, Benjamin, and Robert's tiny horde—who each reflect a piece of her enduring spirit.

Her faithful cat Loki remains a living symbol of her boundless capacity to love and be loved.

While her life's journey has ended, leaving us to mourn the loss of our dear daughter, sister, artist, and friend, Siggy is reunited in eternal peace with her daughter Melanie Nicole Scanlan, her son Bobby Benjamin Scanlan, and her father.

Please join us in celebrating the remarkable life of Sieglinde "Siggy" Barbara Mueller. A service will be held in her honor on January 30, 2024, at 4 p.m. at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, TX. During this gathering of hearts, we will share in the remembrance of a life that touched us all so deeply.

In loving memory of Siggy, contributions may be made to the ASPCA, reflecting her unwavering commitment to the well-being of animals.

As we bid her farewell, we hold close the assurance that her warmth, courage, and creativity have left an indelible mark on our lives, and that her story will continue to inspire and comfort us for generations to come.
