Bill Weatherby

Bill Weatherby, of San Angelo, passed away on April 15th, 2024 at the age of 86. He was born on June 15th, 1937 in San Angelo, TX to parents Marvin and Annaleigh (Richburg) Weatherby.

He grew up in Miles, TX where he graduated from Miles High School in 1955. He went on to attend San Angelo College and Texas Tech University, graduating with a degree in Agricultural Education. At Tech he was a proud member of the livestock judging team and competed at the national level in Oklahoma City and Chicago.

While in college he enlisted in the Army National Guard, and was called to active duty in 1961. Bill married Tommie Phillips Weatherby while he was stationed in Fort Polk, LA in February of 1962. After his service they moved to San Angelo where he became a proud father to three daughters and began his lifelong career of buying and selling sheep for Armor, Montfort, Midwest Feed Yards, and Bill Weatherby Livestock.

He was very involved in judging and supporting area stock shows and youth. Bill served as a director of the San Angelo Stock Show and for over 25 years was the superintendent of the sheep and goat division. Bill also served on the board of directors for Paint Rock State Bank and was a member of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association.

Bill was promoted to his favorite title “Papa” in 1998 and was dearly loved by his four grandchildren. Throughout his life he was an avid sports fan, supporting Texas Tech, the Texas Rangers, and everything that aired on ESPN. He especially loved watching his grandchildren participate in their sports and activities, traveling across the state and nation to cheer them on.

He was known for his honesty and integrity, always believing that a man’s word was his bond. Up until his last day he loved and cared for his family and friends above all else.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Tommie, daughters Karen Weatherby and Sherry (Weatherby) Smith both of San Angelo, Lisa (Weatherby) Barrett of Lubbock, grandchildren Jaclyn and Brooke Barrett, Jansen and Payne Smith, brother Gary and wife Donna Weatherby, brothers-in-law Mickey Phillips, Larry and wife Anne Phillips, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as special friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Lydia Gloria Cuéllar

Lydia "GG" Cuellar, 97, of San Angelo, passed away on April 12, 2024. She was born on December 24, 1926 in Colorado City, TX to Guadalupe Gloria and Antonia Carrasco. She married the love of her life Valeriano "Bob" Cuellar on August 5, 1946 In San Angelo and together began their family.

Lydia served at Primera Church for most of her life where she shared her passion for the Lord. She spent her time loving our littlest members at the Nursery for more than 20 years. Her friends and family were blessed to witness her faith, wisdom, and unconditional love. Lydia was the working hands and feet of the Lord as she served in ministry and her community. Two of her favorite hymns include "What a friend we have in Jesus" and "How great thou Art". She was our prayer warrior with a faithful heart and a great mentor to all who knew her.

Lydia was preceded in death by her loving husband Bob Cuellar, parents Guadalupe Gloria, Juan and Antonia Carrasco, granddaughter Jenny Cuellar, son-in-law Johnny Fira, brothers Faustino, Santos, Jesse, and Ted.

Left to cherish her precious memory: Sister Pasquala Sanchez of Robert Lee, TX, son Robert (Olga) Cuellar, son Richard (Alicia) Cuellar, and daughter Linda Fira all of San Angelo. Grandchildren, Travis Cuellar, Kristen Borrego, Joshua (Stacy) Fira of San Angelo, Nicole (Ricky) Kenmure of League City, TX, JT (Leddy) Thibodeaux of Austin, TX. 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. Numerous nieces and nephews including Olivia Gloria who was considered a daughter. Lydia was known by all who loved her as "GG" or "Mom" and they all brought her the greatest of joy when spending time with her.

There will be a viewing on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 5-7pm at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd.

Celebration of life service on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10am held at Primera Church of San Angelo, 23 W Ave J.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Primera Church of San Angelo, SageCrest Nursing Home of San Angelo staff: Mark, Kelly, Gloria, Diana, Bee, Bobbie, Glendora, Lisa, and Lucy, and Concho Hearts Hospice for all their love and tender care for our beloved GG.

James "Jim" Minatra

James “Jim” Minatra, 81 of San Angelo passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024 in San Angelo.

Jim was born on February 23, 1943 in Abilene, Texas to the late N.J. and Nora (Swindle) Minatra. He attended Abilene Cooper High School. He joined the United States Navy and then served in the United States Army. Jim’s lifelong passion for guns was noted while serving in the Army where he was, “Expert (Rifle)”. He served his country honorably and was a faithful patriot. Jim initially began working with Rhodes Trucking as a diesel mechanic. He went onto own Minatra Mechanic Service in the early 70’s in Abilene. He moved and relocated the business to San Angelo in 1977. 

Jim was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting. He was a gun enthusiast and lifetime member of the NRA. He will be remembered for his love of God, country and family. He was respected by those who knew him. He was loyal, trustworthy, had a great sense of humor and was giving. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Kenneth Leo Minatra and Roger Coy Minatra; son, James Prickett, Jr.; daughter, Donna Eskridge and his granddaughter, Mindy Hagan.

He is survived by his children, Pam Ray Hagan and her husband David of Clyde, TX, Jimmy Ray Minatra and his wife Peggy of Lewisville, TX and Jeffrey Robert Minatra and his wife Laura of Morgan Mill, TX; 2 grandchildren he raised, Richie Davidson and Janette “Sissy” Minix and her husband Jerry; his grandchildren, Kevin Hagan, Stanton Minatra, Blaine Minatra, Grace Minatra and Abigail Miniatra; great-grandchildren, Kathan, Layken and Savana; numerous other relatives and friends. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 from 5-7:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 US Highway 277 S. in Abilene, Texas. A graveside committal service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery 7457 W Lake Rd, Abilene, TX 79601. Local arrangements are under the care of Johnson's Funeral Home and services under the care of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions in his name can be made to a charity of your choice supporting veterans.

Maria Garcia

Our beloved mother María Nieves Alvarado De García, 94, of San Angelo, Texas, was called to her heavenly home by our Lord Jesus Christ on April 13, 2024. She was born on November 13, 1929 to Jesus Alvarado and Petra Barron in El Zacate Durango. México.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Maria also known as Nievitas married the love of her life Samuel R Garcia in 1945 and moved to San Angelo, Texas in 1969, where they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. They were faithful members of Templo Jerusalem, making it a priority to teach the word of God to all their grandchildren, teaching them to always live by faith and to love one another. Along with many other joys, she loved to feed her family and made sure she packed a bag of cookies before anyone left her home. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.

Maria was preceded in death by her loving parents Jesus Alvarado and Petra Barron, husband Samuel R Garcia, her first born child Maria Garcia, grandson Robert Valero, great grandson, Michael Christopher Garcia, great great grandchild Christopher Ezekiel Garcia.

She is survived by her children, Efrain and wife Victoria Garcia, Samuel ll and wife Maria Elena Garcia, David and wife Eva Garcia, Esther Valero, Teófilo and wife Leonor Garcia, Nancy Garcia, Mercedes Salazar, and Maria Sarli. 

Along with 26 Grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren 21 great great grandchildren and 3 grand pups

Funeral Services will be held at Johnson’s funeral home in San Angelo, TX 

Viewing Wednesday April 17th, 2024 2pm to 7pm. 

Funeral service Thursday April 18th 2024 officiating Pastor Jehu Hernandez to commence at 2pm. 

Burial following at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Richard Bryan Dillard

Richard Bryan Dillard 97 of San Angelo Texas passed away on Thursday April the 11th 2024. 

He was born on October the 18th 1926 in San Angelo Texas to Lillian and Harry Dillard. He attended Ebola High School where he meant and married Marjorie Helen Mees the love of his life. After graduation he joined the Air Force and was in training to become a fighter pilot when the war ended. He continued his love for flying the sky’s as a crop duster until he retired. 

Richard is survived by his son Rick Dillard JR his two daughters Debbie Krustchinsky and Celeste Woodyard and not to forget the beloved friend who is considered family Gerry Hatch. He also survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great great grandchildren. He lived his life to the fullest and made many dear friends along the way. We will cherish the memories that are left for us to hold on to and knowing that he is now back with our momma the love of his life does bring true peace for us all. 

Visitation will be held Thursday April the 18th from 5 to 7 at Johnson’s Funeral Home located at 435 W Beauregard Ave, San Angelo TX. Funeral Mass will be Friday April the 19th 10am at Sacred Heart Cathedral 20 E Beauregard Ave San Angelo TX. Burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery .

Virigina Lane

Virginia "Vickie" Victorene Pettit Lane, 83, joined her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in San Angelo.

A memorial service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the chapel at Baptist Memorial Retirement Community in San Angelo with Chaplain Kevin McSpaden, officiating. Virginia will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Virginia was born on October 30,1940 in Quanah to Leonard "Blondie" and Bonnie Eddins Pettit. She attended Quanah schools and graduated from Quanah High School in 1959. She met the love of her life, Galen P. Lane, and they married in Quanah on June 30, 1958. Virginia had a life full of adventure as a military and civilian spouse living in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, Kansas Japan and Germany (during the Cold War). Throughout all of her travels she made numerous life-long friends and had many humorous stories to tell.

Virginia accepted Christ as her savior as a child and served Him faithfully throughout her life in both children's ministries and through a women's ministry she both started and led for many years at Immanuel Baptist Church in San Angelo. In addition, she was an active volunteer and community member. She frequently cooked food and/or took homemade craft items to families and friends. She hosted afternoon socials for new neighbors in her retirement community to ensure they felt welcome in the neighborhood. She had a natural gift for making people feel welcome in her home, community, and church.

Virginia was extremely gifted in arts and crafts and could make beautiful items out of anything. She learned Japanese flower arranging and doll making when living in Japan. She made floral arrangements for her home for all seasons and holidays. She prided herself on her home and home décor and could make any room look inviting. She enjoyed using her talents in the many children's Sunday School and Vacation Bible School class she taught along with her planning and leading an adult women's ministry making crafts while studying the Bible.

Her greatest passion in life was her family. She faithfully attended sports and activities for her three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved playing games and when the family was visiting, could be found at the dining room table with dominoes, cards of other games teaching the next generation. Many of her grandchildren's favorite memories involve her teaching and playing games with them.

She is survived by her three children, Gayla Thorpe and husband David of Cedar Park, Gwen Davis of Quanah, and Lamar Lane and wife JoLisa of Amarillo. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Cole Davis, Lauren Vicente, Ben Thorpe, Lyndee Ward, Ross Davis, Kale Lane, and Keely Lane along with 13 ½ great-grandchildren, numerous great-grand dogs, cats and horses!

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Galen Lane; her father, Leonard Pettit; her mother, Bonnie Pettit; her brothers, Jim Pettit and Dan Pettit; one grandson, Pake Lane; and numerous furry family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the City of San Angelo Animal Shelter, 3142 US Highway 67 North, San Angelo, Texas 76905, a local SPCA or Immanuel Baptist Church 90 E 14th St, San Angelo, TX 76903.

In Loving Memory of our beloved Angelina Z. Del Rio, a remarkable individual who graced our lives with love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. Angelina peacefully passed away on April 13, 2024, leaving behind a profound void in our hearts. She brought joy to everyone she encountered. Angelina's impact extended far beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of countless friends. 

Angelina will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to family and friends, always going above and beyond to make a difference. She was a beacon of light, spreading love and positivity wherever she went. 

Her legacy will continue through her children Jose Del Rio, Ricardo Del Rio, Blanca Garcia, Francisco Del Rio, Angelina Alvarado, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. 

The viewing service will be held on April 18, 2024 from 6pm-8pm at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be April 19, 2024 at 2pm in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. We invite all who knew and loved Angelina to join us in celebrating Her life and the incredible impact she had on all of us. Although Angelina may no longer be physically with us, Her spirit will forever live on in our hearts. Let us remember her for the love, joy, and inspiration she brought into our lives. May Angelina's soul find eternal peace, and may we find solace in the beautiful memories we shared with her.

Amber Nicole Loftin

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Amber Loftin, who left us all too soon at the age of 39. Amber was born March 23, 1985, and departed this world on April 14, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Amber was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. Her infectious laughter, warm smile, and kind heart touched the souls of everyone she met.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Amber's absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but we take solace in the memories we shared and the love she gave so freely. As we mourn her passing, we will remember her with love, gratitude, and the knowledge that she will always be with us in spirit.

Amber was preceded in death by her uncle Jimmy Loftin, great grandfather Jimmie Dunham and is survived by her mother Sherri Thompson, brother Corey Allum and wife Hunter, sister Amanda Loftin, grandmother Linda Coates, great grandmother Edith Dunham, aunt Jana Braden and husband Cody, aunt Holley Moore, niece Emery Allum, and best friend Michael Joe San Miguel along with many other cousins, great aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 5pm-7pm at Harper Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will be held on April 19, 2024 at 1pm at Harper Funeral Home followed by burial at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Rest in peace, dear Amber. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on forever in our hearts.
