Mary Kathryn Waldeck, 93, of Robert Lee, Texas went to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 19, 2024. She was born in Bridgeport, West Virginia to William Tory and Willa Morris on August 11, 1931. Mary K married the love of her life, James Robert Waldeck on August 18, 1949, and together they raised two daughters in a Christ centered home. Mary K. was a wife first, a self-taught extraordinary seamstress for her family and individuals who traveled hundreds of miles for her skills, a sensational cook which has impacted generations, and the best mother.

Mary K. was saved early in her married life. She loved teaching Sunday School and G.A.’s in her church. She worked many years at Grandmother’s House, a children’s clothing store, with LaRue Allison and Vivian Henderson tailoring clothes for the perfect fit.

Mary K. was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband James Robert Waldeck for 69 years, her sister Jean Shaffer and her daughter Debra Weaver. Those left to cherish her many memories; are daughter Sue Lankford and husband Aaron of Robert Lee, Texas, Dusty Weaver Son-in-Law of Yantis, Texas, her grandchildren, Jennifer Wright and husband Jason of Wolfforth, Texas, Lance Weaver and wife Tandy of Midland Texas, Sarilyn Shanks and husband Jake of Robert Lee, Texas, her twelve great grandchildren; Samuel, Matthew, Benjamin, Jonathan, Faith, Joy, Hope, and Jedediah Shanks, Amie and Cullyn Weaver, Bryson and Brayden Wright. We also thank Dr. Justin Jones, Dr. Erica Rabe, Robert Lee Care Center Staff, and Interim Hospice Staff for their expertise which was used in God’s perfect plan.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church at 10:00 AM with a burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Linda Marie Baker, 76, of Barnhart, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in Big Lake, Tx.

Linda was born May 1, 1948, in Ballinger, Texas to Alton Glass and Ernestine Feist Glass. Linda married Jimmy Baker in November of 1981and they shared over 42 beautiful years together. She worked for the San Angelo Independent School District and then Reagan County Independent School District as an administrative assistant for 37 years and retired from there. In her spare time, she loved quilting, working in her yard and traveling the world. Linda was also the Director of The Barnhart Community Center for Irion County. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and friends, and she will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Lee J. Cuba, her brothers, Bobby Glass and A.J. Glass, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jimmy Baker, of Barnhart, TX; her son, Grant V. Cuba, of Barnhart; her grandson, Jackson Lee Cuba, of Barnhart; her stepdaughter, Shala D. Baker, of Midland; her brother and Sister-in-law, Gary and Kathy Glass, of Eola, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and aunts and other family members and close friends. The funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Harper Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will be private.

John Willie Arnold, aged 88, passed away on September 18, 2024, in San Angelo, TX. Born in 1936, in Tampa, FL, John was known for his intelligence, humor, dedication, and devotion.

John was a graduate of Hillsborough High School and carried the lessons learned there throughout his life. He started working long before graduating high school in various jobs including the Piggly Wiggly, gas station, and helping his father change payphones from a nickel to a dime. He acquired his determination and work ethic from his father. After graduation, John proudly served in the United States Air Force (USAF) for 20 years, where he discovered his knack for learning languages. After his military career, he continued to serve the community through his work with the US Postal Service, where his hard work and dedication were evident to all who knew him. He could name every street, family, and business on his route.

His personal interests included gardening (he had a gift for growing lawns) , RVing (his was always shiny clean), and fishing, each of which brought him great joy and peace. He had a fantastic sense of humor and was always making those around him laugh. He also had a particular talent in playing the harmonica and singing his own songs.

John leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter Margaret Hammerle (Carl); son Michael Arnold (Mary) and grandsons Michael Arnold and William Renton; ex-wives Kathleen Morris and Sharon Arnold (who brought him tremendous joy and loving companionship in his last years); bonus children: Ronnie Partusch (Rhonda), Jill Ulmstead (Bill), Jeff Partusch (Rachel), Vikki Martin (Donnie), Sheila Richardson, and Gina Feller (Cory); nieces and nephew: Andrea Andreason, Kenny Ynes (Toni), Adeline Ynes, and Marcel Napolitano (John). John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Arnold; his parents, Bill and Nell Arnold; his sister and her husband, Lois and Andrew Ynes; and stepsons Mike and Craig Partusch. John felt especially blessed by his large bonus family and all his grandchildren who knew him as Grandpa John.

A gathering to celebrate John's life will be held at Harper Funeral Home on Saturday, September 21 at 4 PM. John's life was one of service, laughter, and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jo Harriet King was born on January 10, 1944, to Joseph Carroll (JC) and Nettie Mae Jackson. Jo was reunited in heaven with the love of her life, Michael King, on September 17, 2024.

Jo grew up on the family farm in Prosper, Texas. Jo learned how to farm with her three brothers, Bobby, Brice, and Nolan until the family moved to Midland.

Jo and Mike began their courtship at Midland High School and were voted King & Queen of MHS’s Catoico. They continued dating while attending separate places of higher education. Jo earned her Registered Nursing diploma at the Lillie Jolly School of Nursing in Houston, Texas, in 1965. Mike and Jo married on May 28, 1966, in Midland. Jo worked as an RN to support Mike while he finished his education. Jo finished her nursing career in August of 2009 with 19 years of service at Shannon Medical Center.

Their love for each other was a model for their children Jessica Michelle, Ryan Lee, and Kristin Harriet. When Jo & Mike moved to San Angelo, they met some lifelong friends. Jo was actually covering an Avon route when she met Sandy Moore. Their friendships flourished and the families joined together for many activities: church, watching Ryan play ball, crafting, and vacationing. Jo and Mike were blessed by Sandy and Dude until the last days of their lives.

Jo is survived by her children: Michelle and Chad Sims, Ryan and Crystal King, and Kristin and Clay Hunt. Her grandchildren are left behind: Carlee Jo and Macee Mae Sims; Kenzie King; Stella, Harriet, Lux, and Pierce Hunt. In addition, Jo leaves behind her brothers and wives: Brice and Sarah Jackson; Bobby and Helen Jackson; Nolan and Nita Jackson; brother-in-law, Mark. Jo is survived by many nieces, nephews and family friends, Sandy and Armon (Dude) Moore and their children and families: Shanna (Kevin) Saverance and children; Kelli (Ry) Thompson and children. 

The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 A.M., - 10:45 A.M., Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Harper Funeral Home with the service beginning at 11:00 A.M.

Pallbearers for the service will be Chad Sims, Ryan King, Clay Hunt, Mark King, Mike Jackson, Armon (Dude) Moore, Kevin Saverance, and Ry Thompson.

The family would like to extend thanks to those who cared for Jo and Mike in the past years: The Crest, The Springs, Lyndale, Sagecrest and Laura Perez in San Angelo; Teresa’s House in Argyle, Alexandria and Julian from Arcy Hospice, along with a host of others.

Patsy Gayle Howard Musick, 87, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024, at Sterling County Nursing Home. She was born to Jack and Ozell Howard on September 12, 1937, in Shep, Texas. She grew up in Monahans. She met the love of her life, Troy Winford Musick, in Odessa and they were married in 1955. They had five children: Debbie Fry (Tommy), Wes Musick (Casey), John Musick (Margaret), Becki Salandy, and Marla Pina (Julio). She loved visiting with her 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and the 2 great-great-grandchildren and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her 19th great-grandson due in November. 

Patsy worked as a bookkeeper, homemaker and especially enjoyed her time with Comfort Keepers. Her hobbies included researching her family genealogy, studying her bible and enjoying any of her many cats.

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Troy, and her sisters Joyce Barton and Jackie Ripley.

In addition to her loving family, Patsy leaves behind a very special sister-in-law Melba Musick. 

Services will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 22 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The funeral will be held on Monday, September 23 at 10:00 AM followed by a reception. Graveside services for the family will follow in Shep.

Lela Ann Lewis Purkaple, 91, of San Angelo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2024 after a lengthy illness. She was a resident of Buckner Retirement Center in San Angelo, TX. 

Lela was born October 7, 1932 in Eldorado, Arkansas, the only child of Dixon Howell and Clady Shurden Lewis. She accepted Jesus as her savior in Denver City, TX at the age of 9. She met Jerry Purkaple in Notrees, TX, where both families lived in the Shell Oil Camp. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1950 and attended Odessa College. Lela and Jerry were engaged in February 1951 and were married at the First Baptist Church Notrees, TX on September 16, 1951. 

Fulfilling a promise to her father to get her college degree, she graduated from Texas Tech and became a schoolteacher. In addition to being a loving mother of Jerry Dixon, Janan, and Laurie, Lela was a supportive minister’s wife, following him to Utah, California, Texas, and Arizona. In Arizona, she and Jerry served as home missionaries to the Navajo’s. Lela was an accomplished musician, Sunday School teacher of all ages, and served in other areas of ministry wherever she was needed.

Lela was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Purkaple, and is survived by her son, Jerry Dixon Purkaple and wife Gail of Anna, Texas, daughters Janan Alford and husband Ron of Broomfield, CO, and Laurie Hirschfeld and husband Dennis of Boerne, TX, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care Lela received from the staff of Baptist Retirement Center community and Hospice of San Angelo. Bobbie Gibbs Alberts born on October 8, 1937 died peacefully on September 13, 2024. She was born to Clarence Robert Gibbs and Adene Feeler Gibbs in San Angelo. She married Donald Lee Alberts on April 30, 1955. They lived in Phoenix, Arizona, Las Cruces New Mexico before making their forever home in San Angelo, TX in 1970. 

Bobble is survived by her daughter Patti Alberts Pool (Jack) and sons Donald Lee Alberts, Jr. (Pam) and Jerry Mac Alberts (Jeanne), 5 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and sister Dena Gibbs Jirasek. 

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and one great granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Great Grandsons Caleb Arp, Guy Pool, Wesleigh Pool, Ethan Pool, Grayson Pool, Brayden Alberts, Clayton Gift and Colton Kross Davis. 

Honorary Pallbearers are Cole Alberts, Nathan Alberts, Gavin Alberts, and Landon Alberts. 

Services will be Friday September 20 at Johnson's Funeral Home at 2 pm.

Visitation will be at Johnson's Funeral Home Thursday September 19 evening from 6-8 pm.
