Emma Clara Ida Nitsche Budewig

01/03/2025 - 22:12 , by TKing09

“I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you… Isaiah 41:10

Loving mother, Emma Clara Ida Nitsche Budewig entered God’s Kingdom on December 22, after battling Dementia for a number of years. God had blessed her with 100 years of life; for that the family is eternally grateful.

Emma was born to Herman and Clara Nitsche on February 27, 1924, in Serbin, TX. She was baptized and confirmed and attended school at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Serbin, TX. Being the baby of the family, she often was the instigator of revelry and good-natured teasing among her siblings, especially when she chose to be in the kitchen with her mother rather than the cotton fields with her brothers. Her adventurous spirit led her to leave her home in Giddings, TX, to pursue employment in Houston, TX. Her first job was at Weldon’s Cafeteria, where she rose through the ranks of line server to supervisor.

Emma was a social creature, enjoying time with her girlfriends, Rosie and Rabbit. This triad would regularly frequent, a dancing night spot called “Dokies.” It was there she met a handsome Air Force airman, Leonard Budewig, who became the love of her life and later married. Emma and Leonard enjoyed the military lifestyle and the traveling that goes with it. They were married for 38 years and had two children, Robert and Glenn.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Emma enjoyed sewing for her family and friends and was employed as a seamstress for Cloth World in Pasadena, TX. Emma was a loyal servant to God, being an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Pasadena, TX, serving on the Dorcas Guild, making quilts, banners and Chrismons for the church and community. Throughout Emma’s entire life she held an unwaivering faith in God.

Now that Emma has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Emma’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her. Emma joins her family in heaven who have already passed into glory: her father, Herman Nitsche and mother, Clara Nitsche, brothers, Louis, Robert, and Emil Nitsche, sisters Louise Stuessy and Ruth Sledge, and Emma’s husband, Leonard Budewig, son, Glenn Budewig, and grandson, Aaron Budewig. Emma is survived by many loving family members, including son, Robert Budewig and his wife Nancy of San Angelo, TX and grandchildren Joy Harms and her husband Brian Harms of Boston, MA, Austin Budewig of San Angelo, TX, and Ashton Kurtz and husband Jason of Woodward, OK, great grandchildren, Clara, Ella, Audra, and Laura Harms, Dakota Alexander, and Dean and Gabby Kurtz, and numerous nieces and nephews.

On December 31, 2024, Emma was laid to rest beside her husband, Leonard, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston, TX. Emma’s, son Rev. Robert Budewig presided over the burial. A Service of Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 18th, at 2:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church/San Angelo, TX.

The family wishes to thank the Rev. Allan Eckert, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, for his spiritual support over the years, as well as The Springs Memory Care and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care. We especially thank everyone for their prayers and words of comfort.

“We rejoice in the promise of eternal life.” “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

FORT WORTH, TX - Visitation: 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Mount Olivet Chapel. A Rosary will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the visitation. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2024 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.

SONORA, TX - Visitation: 9:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024 and Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Love Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. each day during visitation. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church. Internment to follow at Sonora Cemetery.

Born and raised in Sonora, Texas, DeAnn was a daughter, sister, and cousin whose infectious spirit and warmth touched all who knew her.

As she grew older, she was affectionately called Tia Nen, thanks to the kids' unique pronunciation. She became the loving wife of Oscar Trevino Jr., whom she married in April 1995. Over the course of 30 years together, Oscar lovingly called her Babe, a testament to the strong bond they shared. Together, they raised a family beginning with Katie, followed by Tita and Little O, her title of "Mama" was born.

In time, the role of Lovey came to fruition, a title she cherished deeply as her family grew. Katie married Hayden, bringing two beautiful grandsons, Kai and Preston, into the fold. The joy of being a grandmother brought an immeasurable light into her life. Lovey's nurturing spirit and love for her family knew no bounds.

When DeAnn moved to Fort Worth, Texas, her career began as a hairstylist, and her number one clients were Grandma and Grandpa Valdez, and sometimes even Oscar. But it wasn't long before she expanded her skills, venturing into the property management field. Starting her new life in a one-bedroom apartment, she got a job leasing at the front office. DeAnn's determination and work ethic propelled her into roles of increasing responsibility. In November 2024, DeAnn proudly celebrated 20 years of dedicated service with The Tipton Group. Over those two decades, she became a trusted property manager, overseeing the restoration and management of numerous properties. Her leadership, commitment, and excellence earned her several prestigious awards and the admiration of her colleagues.

DeAnn was a woman of vigor and strength. Her leisure time, if it wasn't shopping, was spent as a CG Strong warrior! She loved exercise and ran in 5Ks, always striving to stay active, even after illness struck. Despite health challenges, she never gave up on her love of fitness and still participated in a few run/walks, proving the resilience and determination she was known for.

Her true passion, however, was in the giving of herself. DeAnn was the most selfless person, always putting others' needs ahead of her own. She had a gift for creating joy in others' lives, whether it was decorating for holidays, birthdays, or special events. From quinces to baby showers, no celebration was complete without her personal touch. DeAnn's decorations were legendary, and she passed on her love of creativity to her daughters, who stood by her side, carrying on her legacy.

DeAnn never asked for anything for herself. She was a giver in every sense of the word, often going out of her way to make someone else's day a little brighter. She raised three amazing children, and as a mother, her greatest joy was spoiling them with love, care, and encouragement. If she wasn't running next to you during your race, you could hear her voice over many in the crowd. A motherly figure to so many, she was a source of comfort and support for anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her nurturing spirit made others feel valued and cared for, no matter the circumstance. Her home always had a vacancy despite all room's being "full".

Her family, friends, and all who knew her will miss her more than words can say.

DeAnn leaves behind her beloved husband, Oscar; children, Katelyn Tucker and husband, Hayden, Marissa Trevino, and Oscar G. Trevino; grandsons, Kai Lane and Preston Jacob; 9-year-old Boxer, Jody; parents, Blas and Mary Solis; siblings, Joe San Miguel, Janna Martinez and husband, Zeke, Edward San Miguel and wife, Adrianne, Michael Solis and wife, Paula, Daniel Solis and wife, Melissa; eleven (11) nieces and nephews, and eight (8) great-nieces and nephews.
