Janet "Edi" Mathis, 81, of San Angelo passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Fairmount Cemetery with Rev. Landon Henry, officiating.
Mrs. Mathis was born on April 22, 1944 in Plainview to Henry and Lottie Wisdom Chastin. Edi grew up in Abernathy and married Larry Mathis. They lived in Odessa, Water Valley, and San Angelo. She loved Elvis and her favorite song was "My Way". Like the song she loved, Edi lived a life that was full, and she lived life, her way. Edi was big hearted and enjoyed life. Edi always took care of her family and was known for her gravy and chicken fried steaks.
Edi is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rhonda Mathis; a sister, Frances; and a brother, Delton Chastin.
She is survived by loving friends and family including her husband for over 65 years, Larry Mathis of San Angelo; her children, Danna Mathis of San Angelo and Billy Mathis of Amarillo; her sister, Tammy of Early; two grandchildren, Austin and Randa, and two great grandchildren Carter and Dean.
