Gilbert Duran Velez III

11/24/2025 - 21:57 , by TKing09

Gilbert (Tiki) Duran Velez III was born May 4, 1970, to Gilbert Andros Velez, Jr. and Irene Duran Velez in San Angelo, Texas. He went to his eternal home on November 17, 2025. The Rosary will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home, Sunday November 23rd at 6pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Monday November 24th at 10am. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Cemetery.

Gilbert’s family moved to Midland, Corpus Christie, San Antonio and Houston, Texas when he was young, but eventually came home to San Angelo, where he spent the majority of his life. He graduated from Lakeview High School where he excelled in basketball, baseball and golf, as well as academics, such as being in the National Honor Society. He left to join the army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia where he trained as a Medical Laboratory Technician. He was honorably discharged in 1998 and came home again to San Angelo and his family. He went to work at Shannon in 2001, where he met Donna Rotan. They married in 2005 and welcomed two beautiful children into the world. In 2010, he and his brothers opened Elite Oilfield, which he helped run until he passed.

Gilbert may be best known for his love of all things sports related. He enjoyed hunting, especially varmint hunting, and fishing with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing sports when he was younger and coaching his son’s sports team. He coached basketball and helped coach football through the YMCA and baseball at Northern Little League. In the last few years, he was his son’s biggest fan at all his junior high and high school games. He also became a fan of orchestra, so he could cheer on his baby girl and her love of music. He never missed an event for his kids.

Tiki never knew a stranger. It didn’t matter if he had known you his entire life, or just met you, you were a friend. His friends were very important to him, and he loved spending time with everyone. There was always an open invitation for anyone that could join him to go anywhere or do anything. He was always up for an adventure, big or small, and was always the life of the party. He made people a priority. He wanted to help everyone, and he wanted people to know they mattered. If he couldn’t help, he knew someone that could, and he would, somehow, always make it happen.

More than anything, Gilbert loved his family. He was a devoted son and father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew. His love knew no bounds when it came to his family, especially his two children. He lived to enjoy them and everything they did. He strived to be a good role model and instill in them his faith and love for Christ. He and his family attended St. Joseph’s Church for many years and was recently attending St. Margaret’s Church.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his son Ethan, his grandparents, Max and Sarah Duran, and his grandfather, Gilbert Velez, Sr., his mother in law, Sharon Rotan, his nephew Harley Rotan. He is survived by his wife, Donna Velez, his children, Gilbert (Alex) IV and Emma Velez, his parents, Gilbert and Irene Velez, his father in law, Jerry Rotan(Judi), his sister, Erika Velez (Moses), his brothers, Lanze Velez(Florinda), Guy Velez (Brenda), and Max Velez (Jessica), all of San Angelo, his brother in law David Rotan (Donna) of Missouri; his nieces and nephews, Zak Velez (Devon), Kara Vela, Sarah Velez, Ava Velez, Matthew Velez, Kaylee Vela, Mason Velez and Zaylin Velez, Michael Cowley (Charla), Daniel Rotan (Allacia), Julia Rotan, Joshua Rotan (Kaylene); his great nephews Eli Velez, Damion Rotan, Aidyn Rotan, Harley Rotan, Haizelyn Rotan and future great niece; his best friend Roger (Naomie) Hernandez; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins that he cherished.

Pall bearers are Ruben Solis, Oscar Solis, Anthony Chappa, Corey Adams, Abelardo Santillan, and Raymond Luna.

Honorable Pall bearers include: Lanze Velez, Guy Velez, Max Velez, Roger Hernandez, Johnny Perez, Moses Vela, Gabe Velez, Jackie Lowery, Gabe Velez II, Richard Luna, Lance Guerrero, Clint Adams, Rick Cruz, Ruben Robles, Joey DE Hoyos, Zeke Franklin, Rob Moreno, Jenaro Rodrigues, Brandon Titus, Rick Perez, Miguel Duran, Don Green, Richard Rendon, John Castillo, John Montelongo, JP Boise, Kevin Kelso, Dayton Draper, Frank Arispe, Scott Collins, Mickey Scott, Jeff Cattlet, and Keith Forrest.

The family would like to thank all his friends for their unwavering support. We would also like to thank Shannon Hospital for the kind, caring staff that helped care for him. To know him, was to love him.

Fidel Perez

11/24/2025 - 21:41 , by TKing09

Fidel "Felix" Gatica Perez, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025, in San Antonio

Public viewing will be from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Monday, November 24, 2025, at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Belvedere Cemetery on Arden Road under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Fidel "Felix" was born April 9, 1933, in Bastrop to Jesus and Pomposa Perez. He married the love of his life, Elaine Soto in San Angelo. She preceded him in death on June 24, 2007. Felix has been a lifelong resident of San Angelo until 2013 when he moved to Austin to be close to his family, and in late 2020 he moved to San Antonio to live with his son, Jerry and his wife, Ida and lived there until his passing.

Felix's family was the most important thing in his life. He loved his children, grandchildren, and especially his great grandchildren, who he could never see as much as he wanted. He attended classroom parties and school dances. Felix loved the Home Depot Builders workshop with his great grandkids and helped them not just build things, but memories. He enjoyed hiding cascarones on Good Friday and would let his great grandkids crack the eggs on his signature silver hair for some added color. Felix looked forward to taking the kids for ice cream at his favorite place, Baskin Robbins, where he'd enjoy a sugar free scoop for himself. He loved "greasy hamburgers and a cold beer" and hated fish but ate it anyway for good health. Felix trained himself to wake up without an alarm because he hated when cooks would use that excuse for being late.

Felix started his career working in the kitchen at the young age of 15 to become one of the most talented, well-known Chef and business owner in the region for 50+ years, retiring shortly after his wife, Elaine passed away.

Felix was a practicing Catholic, who attended daily mass every day he could, and in his wheelchair his last several months. He prayed daily throughout the day, when he first woke, during the day, and before he went to sleep and always thanked Jesus for his blessings. He was indeed a Godly man. Felix was loving, kind, generous, forgiving (70X7), respectful, a jokester and very funny. He was the hardest working man the family ever knew. Felix was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a man to emulate.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Perez and wife Ida of San Antonio; a daughter, Viola Ramirez of Durham, North Carolina; a sister, Erma Martinez of San Angelo; a brother, Andres Perez of Colorado; three grandchildren, Gabriel Perez and wife Jesse of Branson, Missouri, Amanda Colon and husband Christian of Round Rock, and Nicholas Ramirez and wife Hannah of Durham, North Carolina; eight great grandchildren, Asher Perez, Evangel Perez and Jude Perez all of Branson, Missouri, Chloe Colon, Deacon Colon both of Round Rock, Rowan Ramirez, Elowen Ramirez, and Euan Ramirez all of Durham, North Carolina and many nephews and nieces who he also loved very much.

Felix was also preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Pomposa; three brothers, Jesse Perez, Erasmo Perez, James Perez; and a sister, Ofelia Bastardo.

Many thanks to the staff of the Heart of Texas Hospice, who helped Dad and us get through these last few months and most difficult time. And, also to the staff of the Atrium Rehabilitation Center in San Antonio for the last few weeks. Both staff were very knowledgeable, compassionate, respectful, and thoughtful in caring for Dad. A great man, who will always be remembered as the most loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, father-in-law, and friend.

Sally Pearl McCaleb

11/24/2025 - 21:35 , by TKing09

Sally might tell you that her life began when she met Alvin McCaleb in high school, but in reality, Sally came into this world on October 5, 1929. Sally is the youngest of ten children (5 sisters, 4 brothers) born to Pearl Hight and Tony David Hight. Sally’s dad died when she was only 3 months old, but her siblings made sure she was cared for. Sally always said that she never had a day when she didn’t feel loved.

Sally met Alvin McCaleb at Clayton High School where they both graduated and where Sally was the valedictorian of their class. Alvin and Sally married on July 27, 1947, at First Baptist Church in Clayton, but they began married life in Cactus, a small oil field town in the Texas panhandle. They soon joined the Baptist church there and Alvin began to climb the ladder of employment at Phillips Gas Plant. While there, Sally and Alvin started their family: Kathy (1948) and Nathan (1951). After moving to several places in Texas, Sally and Alvin settled in the middle of nowhere – in the middle of the Shamrock Oil and Gas company’s oil field. Their nearest neighbors were two miles away and much of the road was unpaved. Sally became a Brownie Troop leader at the closest elementary school (10 miles away) and served a term as PTA president. It was here that Alvin taught Sally to drive a car and to ride a bicycle. After four years, Sally and Alvin purchased the company house they had lived in and actually had the house moved to Dumas, Texas. Complicating that move, baby Janet joined the family just before the house was literally picked up and moved into town.

Sally’s years in Dumas were full of family, friends, and fun. Sally was a stay-at-home mom until Janet started junior high. During those years she enjoyed times with her Jabberwocky Club of friends, hosting Women’s Missionary Union meetings, and going on bike rides with Alvin. Together they took many Saturday bike rides of 50 or more miles and completed mountain rides plus at least one ride of 100 miles!

As Alvin moved up Shamrock’s corporate ladder, he was promoted to the executive office in Amarillo. Sally decided to take advantage of the junior college there and earned an Associate’s Degree. While in school, she also enjoyed learning photography and played the violin in the orchestra.

Sally and Alvin always enjoyed travel, both domestic and foreign, from camping to elegant hotels. They traveled the U.S. and Sally traveled to every state in the U.S. One of their last trips was to Europe where they saw as many countries as possible in two weeks time.

Alvin died from cancer, just after he and Sally celebrated 49 years of marriage to each other. After several months of living alone, Sally married Jack Parker and they moved to San Angelo. They enjoyed traveling to Alaska, touring the Rocky mountains, and seeing the east coast before Jack died.

During Sally’s last years in San Angelo, she made many wonderful friends and was an involved member of Southland Baptist Church. She enjoyed many hours of playing cards with friends, traveling with Kathy and David to Scotland, Israel, Italy, and more.

Sally and Alvin had three children, seven grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Enhabit Hospice of San Angelo. 326 W Highland Blvd, San Angelo, TX 76903

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 2:00pm at Llano Cemetery, in Amarillo, TX.
