Lee Frederick Woodworth

12/31/2024 - 10:07 , by TKing09

It is with heavy hearts we announce that on December 26th, 2024 beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend Lee Frederick Woodworth passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones in San Angelo, Texas.

Born to the late Loren and Dolores Ford Woodworth on June 1st, 1956 in Lansing, Michigan. Lee lived many places growing up as a military child including Japan, Alaska, and Florida but would return to San Angelo to plant his roots after graduating high school. While working together at St. John's Hospital he met the love of his life and wife of 43 years, Judy Bullion Woodworth. Later due to his special ability to connect with people he found his knack for salesmanship but would eventually find "vintage trailer rescues" as his calling.

He was known for his unwavering humor, dedication to family and friends, love for travel (especially with his long time furry companion, Lizzy), his interest and ownership of motorcycles and old cars, most notably Volkswagens, and maybe most of all, his passion for classic rock music, the louder the better. "Caution; hearing protection must be worn" is a sign that literally rings true in his house.

We find comfort knowing Lee led a fulfilled life complete with love and laughter. His absence from this earth will truly be felt by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to a loving Husband, Lee was also a father to children; Brandi Brown, Krista Woodworth, Brant Woodworth and Audrey Suarez. He was grandfather to many beautiful grandchildren including Gage, Virginia, Willow, Sierra, Sidney, Hazel, August, Stayley and Rowan. Sibling to Kathleen Reynolds, Robert Woodworth, Laura Burrus and Marilyn Hudman and devoted friend to so many.

A private celebration of life with his friends and family will be held at a later date in lieu of a funeral.

"If the sun refused to shine

I would still be loving you

If mountains crumble to the sea

There will still be you and me

Cold drops of rain whisper of the pain

Tears of loves lost in the days gone by

My love is strong

With you there is no wrong

Together we shall go until we die

Happiness, no more be sad

Happiness, I'm glad

And so today, my world it smiles

Your hand in mine, we walk the miles

Thanks to you it will be done

For you to me are the only one, yeah"

-Thank You by Led Zeppelin

RD Barron

12/31/2024 - 10:05 , by TKing09

RD Barron, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 25, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Abilene, Texas, on January 21, 1938, to Clyde and Gladys Barron. The Barron family moved to San Angelo in 1940 and then to their family farm, located three miles east of Wall, in 1941. RD worked alongside his family, raising cotton and milo, and developed a deep love for the land that lasted throughout his life. However, the severe drought of the 1950s made a lasting impression on him.

RD attended Wall schools, where he served as president of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). At that time, Wall did not have a senior high school, so he moved in with his aunt in San Angelo to finish his high school education, graduating from San Angelo High School in 1956. He then attended Tarleton College (1956-1957), followed by San Angelo College, where he studied until 1960.

In 1958, RD met the love of his life, Mary Dell Eubank. The two were inseparable, and their love story began at a Dairy Queen. RD often said that meeting Mary Dell was the best thing that ever happened to him. The couple married in 1960, and they continued to celebrate their love at Dairy Queen for many years. Together, they built a life full of love, hard work, and shared memories.

While attending college, RD worked as a plumber’s helper and eventually took on leadership of the crew he worked with. By 1962, he earned his Master Plumbing license and founded Barron Plumbing, which remains a family business to this day, now operated by his son, Kevin. Over the years, RD became a respected leader in his industry, serving as president of both the San Angelo Plumbers Association and the Home Builders Association of San Angelo. He was also a director of the Home Builders Association for many years.

In 1975, RD built and owned Alamo Village Apartments, managing the property for 43 years before selling it in 2018. Additionally, he was a successful partner in the oil and gas business, contributing to several ventures over the years.

RD was an active member of Southland Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and usher for more than 40 years. He and his family joined the church in 1980 after sponsoring it for several years. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he deeply valued his church community.

A lover of the outdoors, RD enjoyed fishing (which he often mentioned more than once), hunting, and sports—especially football, basketball, and baseball. He also loved ranching on his property between Christoval and Eldorado. His passion for animals, particularly “good” dogs, was well-known—he often spoke fondly of his loyal companions: Freckles, Charlie, Jethro, Magnum, Lady, Duke, and Jake (and, in fact, mentioned them before his boys).

RD was also a familiar face at the Monday morning breakfast group at the bowling alley, where he cherished his time with friends.

RD was a devoted father to two sons, Rick (Paula) and Kevin (Lisa), whom he always considered “great guys.” He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Tyler Barron (Desiree), Madison Barron, Kanyn Barron, Miah Pullen (Ronnie), Coltyn Wagnon (Briana), Miriam Wagnon, Jessie Lloyd, and Sawyer Lloyd. He was especially proud of his four great-grandchildren: Leah, Rollins, Kit, and Will.

RD also had the privilege of working closely with a dedicated and loyal secretary, Heather Wilson, who was a true asset to both him and the family business.

RD was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde (1990) and Gladys (1983); his brother, Clyde Jr. (1990); his sister, Doris (2022); and his brother, Weldon (2024).

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Dell; his sons, Rick (Paula) Barron and Kevin (Lisa) Barron; daughter-in-law Michelle Barron; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many cherished friends from all walks of life—whether through fishing, hunting, sports, church, or his many business ventures. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, faith, and love for his family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M., Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 30, 2024 at Southland Baptist Church. The burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers for the service will be Tyler Barron, Randy Barron, John McCabe, Darrell Eubank, Glenn Eubank, Donnie Lee, Coltyn Wagnon and Zach Bronkhorst. The Honorary Pallbearers for the Service will be Johnny Duncan, Joe Henderson, Gus Alexander, Ted Hume, Gail Flood, James Herbert, Norvell Holveck, Phil Cates, Ron Partusch, Billy Wegner, Tommy Neal, Bob Hicks, Gilbert Gonzales, Joe Favor, James Maedgen, Denver Marsh and Hayden Hatfield.

The family requests that donations may be made to the Elias Garcia Go Fund Me fund, or Water For All International.

Victor M. Garcia, Sr.

12/31/2024 - 09:56 , by TKing09

Victor M. Garcia Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, in San Angelo, Texas.

A Life Well-Lived

Victor was born on February 10, 1937, in Marfa, Texas, to his loving parents, Bernardino Garcia, affectionately known as “Tata,” and Jesusita Molinar Garcia, lovingly called “Mama Chita.”

Victor lived a rich and fulfilling life. He cherished solitude but had a deep passion for the arts. A talented musician, Victor also had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He was especially proud to have been part of a trio with his brothers Robert and Oscar, creating cherished memories through their shared passion for music, especially boleros, which held a special place in his heart. As a skilled artist, he handcrafted sculptures from root wood and dedicated much of his time to creating stunning Catholic-inspired paintings and sculptures.

Victor also contributed to the community through his art. One of his most notable works is a painting of Apache Chief Victorio, proudly displayed in Fort Davis, Texas. He also spent two years crafting a magnificent 6-foot crucifix from a mesquite tree, which has been used in numerous Catholic retreats in Eagle Pass, Texas. Additionally, Victor donated a remarkable portrait of President Abraham Lincoln to Angelo State University (ASU) Fine Arts Department. Saddened to have parted with the original painting, he felt compelled to recreate it as a testament to his dedication and talent.

Victor worked many jobs throughout his life, one of them being a painter. He worked at Angelo State University (ASU), where he painted doors and carried out various painting projects needed by the university. He also took on independent painting jobs and worked alongside his son Raphael, showcasing his dedication and skill in his craft.

A devout Catholic, Victor regularly attended Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and made his faith a cornerstone of his life. He frequently went to confession and encouraged others to deepen their connection with God. As he grew older, his love for his family flourished, and he often reflected fondly on the cherished moments he shared with his children. He particularly treasured his experiences with his daughters Victoria and Desiree in New York and his admiration for Niagara Falls—a place he deeply hoped his son Fernando would visit in his honor after his passing.

Family Legacy

Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardino and Jesusita Garcia; his brothers, Oscar Garcia and Robert Garcia; and his sister, Estella Villarreal.

He is survived by his children: Victor Garcia Jr., Gustavo Garcia, Alfredo Garcia, Raphael “Boi” Garcia, Fernando Garcia, Felipe Garcia, Sarah Villa, Victoria Garcia, and Desaree Garcia; as well as his beloved baby sisters, Socorro Munoz and Catarina Wright. Victor’s legacy includes 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

A Celebration of Life

The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, San Angelo Texas. Burial will take place January 18, 2025 at Merced cemetery in Marfa Tx. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Victor’s life and legacy.

A Heartfelt Thank You

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Gentiva Hospice—Kayla, Kim, Danielle, and Sam—for their compassionate care during Victor’s final days. Special thanks also go to the staff at Shannon Medical Center for their dedication and support during Victor’s journey. The family would also like to express heartfelt appreciation to Gladys Vallejo, who became a cherished part of the family. For the last 10 years of Victor’s life, Gladys helped and celebrated alongside Fernando to care for him with love and devotion. Additional thanks go to the owners and staff of Casa Jalisco, who always treated Victor and his family like their own. Victor greatly enjoyed his time there, especially the beer margaritas and menudo, which brought him so much joy.

Victor’s artistry, devotion, and love for family and faith will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
