Fincher Clara Delma

01/21/2014 - 13:39 , by johnb

Clara Delma Fincher,76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at her home.

There will be viewing from 8:00am to 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 22nd at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Family visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, January 22nd at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, January 23rd at Belmore Baptist Church with Pastor Toby Irwin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Clara was born on December 30, 1937 in Coushatta, LA to James and Dollie (Van Dielle Jones) McGuyer. She played basketball for Simsboro High School where she graduated in 1955 and later that same year married the love of her life, Huey Lee Fincher on June 9, 1955 in Ruston, LA. Clara worked for GTE for 14 years before retiring in 1991.
She was a loving wife and mother; she loved going to church and spending time with her family and friends. Clara was an outstanding cook and enjoyed preparing meals for them. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing until her accident in 1997, which did little to slow her down. Despite being confined to a wheelchair her spirit and zest for life was unquenchable, she was never one to complain about her situation. She always had a smile and never met a stranger.

Clara was preceded in death by her father, James Allan McGuyer; husband, Huey L. Fincher; mother, Dollie McGuyer and son, Edwin A. Fincher and a brother Leon McGuyer.

She is survived by her son, Robert Fincher of San Angelo; brother Robert McGuyer of Red Oak, TX; twin-brother Clarence McGuyer of Muscle Shoal, AL; sister Maxine Billet of Lake Gaston, NC; sister Glenda Rector of Virginia Beach, VA; sister-in-law Shirley McGuyer of Choudrant, LA; daughter-in-law Donna Fincher of San Angelo; granddaughter, Mandy Archer and husband, Eric of San Angelo; granddaughter Rakah Dominguez and husband, Johnny of San Angelo; grandson Edwin A Fincher, Jr. and fiancée Christy Gentry of San Angelo; grandson Kenneth A. Zawicki of San Angelo; granddaughter Cheyenne Fincher of San Angelo; eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Thanks for 17 years of loving care and support from a very special person more like a sister than a caregiver, Merle Cuellar. Thanks to our church family at Belmore Baptist Church for their prayers, love and support. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and all the staff of Shannon ICU and 4th Floor and Odyssey Hospice.
God Bless
