Our sweet baby sister, Donna Kay Knox, was born in San Angelo, Tx, the morning of April 11, 1954, at the Clinic Hospital. She passed away at 5:29 AM on October 23, 2023. She was a precious baby sister and the third child born to our parents Robert L. and Lorene (Gilbert) Knox. She was a special child and grew up in a very loving and protective family who would forever be loving protectors. Although Donna never attended a formal school, she learned much through educational television programs such as Sesame Street, Captain Kangaroo, and Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. She loved all genres of music from rock ‘n’ roll to symphonic. She loved to watch television and all things from the Kentucky Derby to Nascar races, football, ice hockey, golf, westerns, and cartoons. She loved horses, particularly Clydesdales, and got to meet and pet one named Mike in 2009.
Donna was preceded in death by her father Robert, on May 9, 1999; her sister, Janice on December 5, 2020; and her mother, Lorene on February 5, 2021, all from San Angelo.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Jesse Stanford of San Angelo. Also surviving her is her special nephew and his wife Robert and Jo Fuller of Little Elm and her great nephews, Kyle Fuller of Fort Carson, Colorado, and Stephen Wallace, of Greenville, South Carolina, She is survived by a special cousin and his wife, Danny and Kathy Knox of Plainview, Texas as well as numerous cousins. She is also survived by Myrna Barrera, our very special care giver when Donna was still at home. Donna lived with her sister in a group home for several years and continued to live there until the time of her passing. The Staff became her family, and we extend our love and appreciation to Grace, Linda, Gina Marie, Priscilla, and Carolyn for their loving care. She dearly loved all of you. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Nurse Tammie who always took special care of Donna. Donna was truly a special angel for her family and extended family. We are most thankful to God for the blessing of her life. We shall miss her so much.
A funeral service will be held at Harper Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 28, 2023, with a burial to follow at Santa Anna Cemetery in Santa Anna, Texas at 2:30 PM.
