Wilson Barnes Rink joined his sweetie Eva on June 14, 2022. He was born in Hamlin, Texas on July 29,1923 to Otho and Ela Rink. He left for World War II the day after his high school graduation at San Angelo Central High School with the 147th army infantry and fought at Iwo Jima. After the war he went to North Texas State and worked for Russell Newman. He met Eva in college and married in 1951. He is survived by his daughters Icy Donnelly, Wendy Barrows (Bryan), Tracey Duke and their children Francis Rink Donnelly, Miles Donnelly (Leslie), Will Ferguson, and Madeline Barrows. His sister Nancy Johnson (Jerry) and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Eva Jim McFarlane, son-in-law’s Frank Donnelly and Jim Duke, his parents Otho Edward and Ela Preccia, his brothers James, Jack, and Otho (Pat) Rink.  

Wilson never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Betty Joyce Jones Kinnard, 89, passed away on June 25, 2022, in San Angelo.

Betty was born on April 26, 1933 to Clyde and Birtie Lee (Whitely) Jones in Royalty. She was the eldest of four.

She attended school in Grandfalls-Royalty, Cottonwood, Cross Plains, Brownwood, and Zephyr. Betty never actually received her high school degree but continued her education non the less. She attended Cisco Jr. College and received her bachelor's degree from McMurry College. She later received her master's degree from Abilene Christian College.

Betty taught in many school districts including Eastland, Roscoe, Loraine, Trent, Robert Lee, Ozona, retiring in 1992. In 1993, she began and completed Dyslexic Training under Aylett Cox and worked for the James Phillip Williams Foundation until 1997. Betty then fulfilled a dream to teach at an Indian Reservation in Zuni, New Mexico.

Betty loved to travel. She was able to visit 39 of the 50 states. Some of her trips included Washington, DC., Disney, Seattle, Yellowstone, Alaska, Hawaii, NYC, Canada, Mexico, The Bahamas, and the Panama Canal.

Betty is survived by her three children, Clayton Kinnard of Canon City, Colorado.; Cindy Lewis of San Angelo, and Christy Kvapil and husband Ken of Ballinger; grandsons, Jason Lewis and wife Lyndi of Colorado Spring, Colorado, and Connor Kvapil of Lubbock; great grandchildren, TatumGrace Lewis and Johnathan and Sterling Murphy; her siblings; Roy Jones and wife Christine of San Angelo; Twila Walker and Clydene Olson both of Brownwood; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law, Dudley Walker and Byron Olson.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Grace Fellowship Church, 609 North 9th Street, Ballinger, Texas.

Charity Momilani Basques Dumas, 71, went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 16, 2022, in San Angelo.

Private family services will be in Hawaii at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Ms. Dumas was born April 15, 1951 in Maui, Hawaii to Richard and Laura Basques.

Survivors include children, Eric Dumas, Kevin Dumas, Deon Dumas, Nellieta Odoms, Tiffani Martinez; her siblings, Faith "Stephen Norman, Hope Robinson, Joy Basques, Patience Basques, Penny Basques, Richard Basques, Jr., and Rocky Basques; 13 grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Duane H. Keifer of San Angelo went to be with his Lord & Savior June 26, 2022. Duane was born April 25, 1926 to John & Nina Keifer in Floyd, Iowa. He attended school in Charles City, Iowa and Minneapolis, Minn. where his parents had moved to work in a defense plant at the height of WW2. 

He enlisted in the Air Force before they could draft him and was sent to Texas for training. He met and married the love of his life, Novaline Pruitt, in 1947 while he was stationed at Carswell AFB in Ft. Worth, Texas. They had three sons, Kyle, Darrell, & Carson. 

He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force. He flew on B-29s & B-36s – logging thousands of hours. In the early 50s Duane participated in Operation Ivy (First H-bomb Test) at Eniwetok Atoll. He survived a crash in 1955 when their B-36 landed short, burned and exploded on a Carswell AFB runway. When the B-36 was phased out he crossed trained into Air Traffic Control at Keesler AFB in Mississippi. He was stationed in Ft. Worth a short time and then sent to Yokota AFB, Japan for 3 years then to Whiteman AFB 2 years working with Radar Approach Control. He transferred to Carswell AFB and worked in the control tower. In 1963 he cleared Air Force 1 to land at Carswell AFB the day before President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. In 1964 Duane retired from the Air Force and worked with the Postal Service three years in Tyler, Texas. Missing his involvement with aviation he hired on as an Air Traffic Controller with Federal Aviation Agency in Alaska – working 2 years in Anchorage and 2 years in Fairbanks. The rest of his 2nd career was served in the control tower at San Angelo, Texas. He retired in 1986 with 42 years of Government service.  

His exemplary life was an example for his sons and grandchildren. He possessed a thoughtful caring nature – quietly & generously helping others in need. He worked with World Bible School for more than 20 years serving part of that time as deacon at Johnson St. Church of Christ where he was a member since 1972. His retirement years were happily filled with enjoying his family. His sons and grandchildren always included him on their excursions and he never passed up the opportunity to join them. They canoed down the Brazos River every spring spending nights on the river bank, backpacked & hiked in the mountains of Colorado and fished on the Kenai & Russian Rivers for salmon in Alaska. He and his three sons were computer buffs in the evening playing four way games together. His favorite past time was reading and fly fishing. He visited the library weekly bringing home a satchel of books each time.  

Duane was preceded in death by his father, John Keifer; his mother, Nina Keifer; his sister, Florine Day; his brother, Hillary Keifer. Survivors include wife of 74 + years, Novaline Keifer, his 3 sons: Kyle R. Keifer & his wife, Priscilla, of Grapevine, Darrell W. Keifer & his wife, Aileen, of Sterling, Alaska, & Carson J. Keifer & his wife, Dina, of Mansfield; 2 grandsons: Wesley Duane & Connor Duane; 5 granddaughters: Chelsea, Kristen, Madeline, Brianne and Kaley; 1 great-grandson: Blake and 4 great-granddaughters: Isabel, Bella, Brynn, and Hannah. 

The Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Johnson Street Church of Christ with Dr. Tommy King officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Duane will be available for viewing from 8:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Harper Funeral Home.

Steven Clark Hall, 54, passed away June 23, 2022 at his home in San Angelo, Texas.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 27, 2022 at Fairmount Cemetery with Pastor Lakan Mariano, Senior Pastor at College Hills Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Hall was born on February 17, 1968 in Bryan, Texas. He graduated from Round Rock High School in 1986 and attended Howard Payne University. Steven loved working with computers and manifested that into an over 30 year career in the information technology field at various organizations, including the Sitel Group, as well as, Desert Rose Manufacturing Company. He enjoyed all animals, especially his beloved dogs, Belle and Venus. Steven was funny, had a good sense of humor, and liked listening to music. He enjoyed attending church regularly and spending time with his family, cooking on the grill and being Uncle Steveo.

Survivors include his mother, Marcia Samuelson and her husband John of San Angelo; his sister, Stacey Hall Bain and her husband Kevin of San Antonio; his brother, Jeffery Scott Hall and his wife Angela of Bulverde; two nieces and two nephews, Olivia Bain, William Bain, Audrey Bain, and Rhettley Hall.

Donny S. Brandstetter, 66, of San Angelo, passed away at his home on June 22, 2022 in San Angelo. 

Donny was born to William and Ruby Shepard Brandstetter on August 4, 1955, in Haskell, TX. He met Brenda Daniels and they were married on February 28, 1991. 

Donny was a jack of all trades. His held many jobs in his life including bull riding, trading livestock and training horses and a mechanic. 

He is preceded in death by his daughter, LaVonda Brandstetter; stepdaughter, Lakendra Glass; and brothers, Pat, Royce, and Marvin Brandstetter. 

Donny is survived by his wife, Brenda; sons, William Evert Brandstetter, Jerry Dale Eckert, Jason Glass, Michael Glass, and James Glass; two sisters, Katie Pinkston and Frankie Susan Brandstetter; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

An open visitation will be held June 25-27, 2022 at Harper Funeral Home.

Chester Lee McCown of Miles, Texas passed away on June 21, 2022. Chester was born in Miles, Texas on March 11, 1943, to Wilson Avery McCown and Viola (Helmers) McCown. He was the oldest of four siblings, Clayton, Sidney, and Brenda. He attended Concordia University and received a bachelor’s degree in theology, and he furthered his study by receiving a Master’s of Divinity from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri.

He married the love of his life, Ollie Gleghorn, on June 11, 1966 in San Angelo, Texas. He began his career in ministry in Crosby, Texas, and worked as both a minister and a hospital chaplain at various churches and hospitals throughout Texas until retiring at Faith Lutheran Church in Sweetwater, Texas in 2016. Chester often volunteered for hospice programs to ensure that everyone received comfort and compassion until the very end of their life. His passions in life included photography, traveling, and anything related to pecans. He won many local, regional, and state awards for his pecans.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Viola. He is survived by his loving wife Ollie of Miles, his daughter and son-in-law Amy and Matt Rutherford of San Angelo, his son and daughter-in-law Brett and Celina McCown of Seguin, his brother Clayton of Orient, his brother Sidney of Robert Lee, and his sister Brenda Conley of Tuscola, his granddaughters Madison and Olivia Rutherford of San Angelo, his grandchildren Lanie and Emily McCown, Ben Alvarado, Bryan Valadez, and Kaylee Freeborn of Seguin, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all those who have reached out to share the ways Chester touched their lives. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Harper Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. There will be a celebration of life at Harper Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. Betty J. Lieber, 95, of Robert Lee, TX passed away on June 17, 2022, in Robert Lee. 

Betty was born to Floyd and Willie May Kelsey Pinkerton on December 29, 1926, in Norton, TX. She grew up in Littlefield, TX and graduated from Littlefield High School in 1944. Betty then entered Shannon School of Nursing on D-Day in 1944. While in training, she became known as Pinky. She graduated in May of 1947 and married Jack Lieber the following November at the Presbyterian Church with BO Wood officiating. Their son Frank (Rusty) was born in 1950 and daughter Beth Ann shortly after in 1953. 

Betty worked as a nurse at Shannon Hospital where she loved pediatrics and the newborn nursery. She worked with many community organizations such as Head Start before it was associated with SAISD, Planned Parenthood, Sick Baby Clinic and Meals for the Elderly. She had been stricken with polio in 1948 but considered herself blessed having survived and only experiencing post-polio symptoms later in life. After Jack’s passing in 2010, she moved to St. Angelus Assisted Living. In 2021, she moved to her “casita” in the country where she enjoyed the deer, donkeys, and the sunsets. 

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Jack and son, Rusty. 

She is survived by her daughter Beth Ann Buchholz and husband Don, of Coke County; her grandchildren, Col. Doug Buchholz and wife Kim of O’Fallon, IL, and Lt. Col Matt Buchholz and wife Stephanie of Beavercreek, OH; granddaughters, Stefanie Taylor of Sonora and Amber Jansa and husband Clay of Abilene. She was also the proudest great-grandmother to Madyson, Makenzie, Abigail, Jack, Dylan, Lane, Peyton, Daisy, Fletcher and Claire. 

A private burial was held at Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo per her request. The family would like to say “Job Well Done” to Kindred Hospice and Robert Lee Care Center.
