Frances Block Kocich, 96, of Wall, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in San Angelo. Frances was born March 22, 1927, in Olfen, TX to Paul Block and Hattie Matthiesen Block. She grew up in Olfen where she attended elementary school. She then attended Ballinger High School and graduated in 1944. Frances met and later married the love of her life Weldon Kocich on December 30, 1946. They shared fifty years of married life together. She and Weldon soon moved to Wall, Texas where they raised four children and attended to their farm. In her spare time, Frances loved gardening and keeping her yard, making rosaries, and cross-stitching quilts.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the St. Helen’s Alter Society and a member for many years of the St. Ambrose church choir. She also enjoyed being a member of a local social group known as the Golden Girls.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Weldon Kocich, her parents, Paul and Hattie Block, Wilbert Block, Sister Pauline Block, Andrew and Carmen Block, Gladys and Howard Gray, Bobby Mask and Ricky Robertson. She is survived by her children, Jocille Roberts and her husband Jerry, Dolores Mask, Marcus Kocich and John Kocich and his wife Lucy; her grandchildren, Jenny Aldridge and her husband Chace, Heather Robertson, Ryan Mask and his wife Meghan, Eric Mask and his wife Chelsea, Joshua Kocich, Matthew Kocich and Paul Kocich; her great grandchildren, Carter Aldridge, Will Aldridge, Lucas Mask, Shane Mask, Georgia Robertson, Jessica Robertson, Tristan Robertson and Bobbi Mask; her brother, James Block; and numerous nieces and nephews other family members and close friends. The rosary vigil will be 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be 10 A.M., Thursday, December 14, 2023, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Joseph Choutapalli as celebrant. The burial will follow at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Joshua, Matthew and Paul Kocich, Ryan and Eric Mask and Carter Aldridge.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Matthiesen Seminary Burse in care of St Ambrose Catholic Church, P O Box 228, Wall, Texas 76957.
