Aubrey Russell Conner, known as Butch, passed away on December 2, 2023, at the age of 61. Butch was living in Del Río at the time of his death.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 2021 Pulliam St., San Angelo, Texas.
Butch was born on July 1, 1962 in San Angelo. Butch grew up in Ballinger where he went to school and at a very young age started helping at the family business, Conner Bumper Works. After the closing of that business, the Conner family moved to San Angelo and started Conner Steel Products located on Highway 87 N. Butch was a major part of the success of the company and in 2004, he took over Conner Steel and later opened other manufacturing steel companies, making him one of the most successful business owners in his industry, in the United States and Canada. Despite all his success, those that knew him well in his latter part of life knew that in his real joy and contentment came from serving his God, Jehovah, and sharing with others God’s future blessings, including that of the resurrection. (John 5:28,29)
Unfortunately, in 2019, Butch suffered a head injury that impacted his health and faced ongoing challenges as a result. One of Butch’s greatest qualities was self-determination. Despite remaining resilient and determined to get himself better, he lost this battle.
Butch was an active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He was preceded in death by his brother Steve Conner.
He is survived by his wife Sonya Conner; parents, Aubrey and Neva Conner; his sister Carolyn Wilhite; 3 children, Kristin Churchwell, Preston and Pierce Conner. He has three grandchildren and multiple nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to a charitable organization of their choice.
May Butch’s memory be cherished by all who knew and loved him!
