Capps Grady

Grady Madison Capps, 92, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully at his home on April 28, 2014. 

He was born in Bedias, Texas on May 26, 1921 to Claude Madison Capps and Minnie Mae Miller Capps. 

Grady moved to Veribest when he was seventeen and graduated from Miles High School. He joined the Navy in January 1942, and served aboard the U.S.S. Wingfield DE194, during World War Il. He also served aboard the U.S.S. Dixie AD14 during the Korean War. He attained the rank of Chief Metalsmith and was honorably discharged in 1952. 

After being discharged from the Navy, he returned to San Angelo where he was employed by Mustang Chevrolet and later Jim Bass Ford as body shop manager. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, J.C. Capps and Ira Capps, one sister, Twylah Sims and a son, David. 

Grady was a longtime member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church and is survived by his wife of fifty years, Joanne Capps, his son, Kenneth Capps and wife Karen of Kaufman, daughter, Connie Lou Estes of Burleson; nieces, Linda Kovac and Gracie Dowdy; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Special friends surviving Mr. Capps are Joe and Lou Fields, Don and Judy Burney, Mark and Jackie Stevenson and the Bass Bunch. 

Honorary pallbearer will be Grady’s dear friend, Joe Fields, whom he loved as a son and was his constant caregiver the last years of his life. 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home. 

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Vaughan Mary Ann

Mary Ann Vaughan, 83, passed away on April 29, 2014 after a courageous battle with dementia . 

She was born on December 20, 1930 and left on the steps of the local Sweetwater Hospital and later adopted by Edith Bethany. She attended school in Sweetwater and graduated from North Texas State University. Mary Ann worked as a journalist and a photographer for Standard Times. 

On July 6, 1959 she married Jack Vaughan. In the next three years they had two sons; Ross and Grant. During their formative years, she spent many hours attending sporting events and coaching several teams. Later, Mary Ann took up the game of golf, playing at the San Angelo Country Club. She traveled across the state of Texas playing in various women’s tournaments. She was a past SACC Club Champion. She was also an avid bridge player belonging to a number of clubs in San Angelo. Mary Ann was an avid walker and will enjoy being laid to rest at Fairmount Cemetery where she walked daily for many years. 


Mary Ann is survived by her loving spouse of 54 years Jack Vaughan of San Angelo; two sons; Ross Vaughan and wife, Molly of Houston, Grant Vaughan of Lubbock; grandsons; Henry Vaughan of Austin, Pete Vaughan of Houston, Ben Vaughan of Houston, Michael Vaughan of San Angelo and granddaughter; Ashley Vaughan of Austin; brother in law; Bill Vaughan of Houston. 

She was preceded in death by parents. 

Memorial services will be held 3:00pm Friday May 2, 2014 at Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd with The Reverend June Smith, officiating. Following her wishes, inurnment will be at Fairmount Cemetery and on the Vaughan Ranch in Crockett County. 

Memorials are suggested to the Tom Green County Library, West Texas Boys Ranch and a charity of your choice. 

The family wishes to thank the staff at Baptist Memorial retirement center and the Baptist Memorial Hospice Dr.’s and nurses.

Perez Sesario

Sesario “Chalo” Perez, Sr., 70, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at a local hospital. 

Viewing will be from 8:00am to 8:00pm today at Robert Massie Funeral Home. 

Rosary will be held at 7:00pm on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel 
under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. 

Sesario was born on January 2, 1944 in San Angelo to Concepcion and Sara (Huizar) Perez. 
He was a carpenter for most of his life and continued to make birdhouses, dog houses and other projects after retiring. Chalo enjoyed fishing in his younger days and as the days grew longer he really enjoyed watching his favorite old westerns and Judge Judy on TV and spending time with his friends in the barrio. 

Chalo was the most generous friend anyone could ever hope to meet. He would help anyone and everyone never expecting a thing in return. A handshake was all he needed to make his day. No matter what he was in need of, he would never ask, but he would give anyone in need the shirt off his back. 

Chalo was preceded in death by four brothers and a grandson, Sesario “Spanky” Perez, III. 

He is survived by his Daughter, Rosalie (Daniel Ubando) Perez of Odessa; Son, Sesario Perez Jr.; Son, Adam (Edna) Perez; Son, Rudy (Dolores) Perez; Son, Danny (Margaret) Perez; Son, Korky (Rachel) Perez; Son, Sesario Chalo Perez; Brother, Concepcion Perez Jr.; Mother of their children, Virginia Perez all of San Angelo; Eight Grandchildren; Fourteen Great-Grandchildren with numerous Nieces and Nephews 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Shannon Hospital on 5 South.

Fiveash William

On April 30, 2014, William Elbert Fiveash, age 94, entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ. Elbert was born on October 21, 1919, in Coleman County, Texas to John and Ruth Fiveash. As a young boy, Elbert moved with his family to the Dry Hollow Community in Concho County, Texas where he grew up, later raised a family and lived a long and fruitful life.

During World War II Elbert served his country as a Medic in the U.S. Army, serving in the European and
Pacific Theaters. At the end of the war, he received an Honorable Discharge and returned to Concho County in 1945. In 1946 Elbert met the love of his life, Ruby Bridges from San Angelo and they were married in September 1947, spending 66 wonderful years together, farming and ranching, and raising their family.

Elbert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Fiveash, his brothers Ed, Wayne, and J.B. Fiveash, his sisters, Ima Ray Lester and Vera Hedden, and his granddaughter, Cheyenne Marie Fiveash.

Elbert is survived by his wife, Ruby, son’s William J (Bill) Fiveash and his wife Patrice and Roy Fiveash and his wife Donna, his brother A.L. Jack Fiveash, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. As our family’s patriarch and leader, he will be greatly missed until our reunion in Heaven.

The family wishes to thank Doctors Charles Jones and Gene Sherrod for the years of medical care, the entire nursing staff at Shannon Hospital for excellent care during the many hospital stays, and the San Angelo Hospice staff for their care over the past few weeks.

Funeral Service is scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with internment following at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Pallbearers for the service are Michael Fiveash, Christopher Fiveash, Billy Fiveash, Jeremy Gregg, J.B. Fiveash Jr, and David Finley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the local Children’s Miracle Network in memory of Elbert and Cheyenne Fiveash, or the charity of your choice.

Josefina Reyna, 71, of San Angelo, passed away on April 22, 2014.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North. Services are under the direction of Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North.
Mrs. Reyna was born November 14, 1942 in El Paso.
Survivors include her brother, Johnny Vasquez of El Paso and two sisters, Lourdes Vasquez and Anastacia Loya both of El Paso, TX.
