Deanna Gilmore Mayfield died September 16, 2014, at her home in San Angelo, Texas surrounded by her family.
She was born September 3, 1943, in Beaumont, Texas to Floyd and Anna Gilmore.
Growing up in the small town of Dayton, Deanna learned the definition of volunteerism. Deanna graduated from Dayton High School and entered Southern Methodist University in 1961. She met Stanley Mayfield when she stepped on the Mustang Band practice field. She knew then and there he was the man she would marry one day. They married August 22, 1964, recently celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
After graduating from SMU in 1965, she was employed with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The couple lived in Big Spring, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada while Stanley served in the United States Air Force. After moving to San Angelo in 1971, Deanna became busy in community activities.
She served as chairman of The Concho Cadre, Baptist Memorials Silver Tea, Mayor’s Drug Task Force, Junior American Citizens of The Daughter’s of The American Revolution, 3 year chairman of the Texas High School State Gymnastic Championships, Green House Project at Baptist Memorials Center, Sagecrest Alzheimers Center and co-chairman with Stanley of the 1979 Fiesta del Concho. Deanna served in leadership positions in the Bobcat Booster Club, San Angelo Symphony and Symphony Guild, Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, Charter member of the National Prayer Breakfast of San Angelo, Civic Ballet, Junior League, Crime Stoppers Board of Directors, San Angelo Area Foundation, Trustee of Howard College Foundation, and the first woman president of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce. Deanna was appointed by Governor George W. Bush to serve on the Texas Real Estate Commission. She served as a volunteer on the George W. Bush Presidential Exploratory Committee and then on his Presidential committee in Tom Green County. Deanna served as Treasurer of Mike Conaway’s congressional campaigns.
Deanna was a member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church and served as a member of the advisory council of the International Mission Board. Her greatest joy was attending her grandchildren’s numerous activities.
Deanna was the proud mother of three children: Lisa Anne, married to Robert Chandler, John Edward, married to Debbie Marlett, and Julie King, married to Brian Barker. She was proud of all twelve grandchildren: Bill and Anna Pickett, Rebekah Chandler, Joseph and Savana Mayfield, and Ashley, Victoria, Sterling, Annalaura, Major, Cooper and Colt Barker.
Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Anna Gilmore, two brothers, and in-laws, John C. and Evelyn Mayfield.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley, sister, Patricia Puckett and husband Ron, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 5-7pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held at 10am Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Glen Meadows Baptist Church with Pastor Mack Roller, officiating. Burial will be follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
