J.D. Parker, 77, of Mertzon passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at his residence.
Viewing starts at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Robert Massie Funeral Home with Family Present 600 pm to 7:00 pm.
Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Mertzon with Rev. Steve Fox officiating.
Graveside Services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.
J.D. Parker was born on October 13, 1936 to John Dee and Pleasant Ethel (White) Parker in Paris, Texas. He joined The United States Army at age 19 for two years. He was raised in Lamesa most of his young life, where he was a policeman and a butcher. He married Bettie Owens November 5, 1959 in Lamesa then moved to Sundown to follow the oil field, where he ended in Mertzon.
Preceded by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bettie; children, Marva McWilliams and husband Steve; James Parker of Mertzon; Paul Parker and his wife Jonnette of Merton; three grandchildren, Jon Paul Parker and his wife Jessica of Mertzon; Shannon Ferrill of Abilene; and Alicia Parker of Mertzon; four great grandchildren; Scarlett, Presley; Brynlee; and Jillian. Numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
The family would like to thank their many friends and the staff at Gentiva Hospice especially nurse and aide.
