Joseph Lawrie, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 31, 2014. He was born on February 10, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts to Joseph B. and Helen G. Lawrie. Joe attended New Dorp High School on Staten Island, and then Quincy College in Quincy, Illinois. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1951, and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1953. He achieved the rank of Corporal. Joe married the love of his life, Janet, on November 17, 1956 in Quincy, Illinois. They were married for over 57 wonderful years.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Greenwell officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Janet M. Lawrie of San Angelo; children: Jenifer Musick and husband Paul and their children Jordan and Kacey of Madison, MS, Jill Groff and husband Edward and their children Clarie, Teresa, Benjamin, and Catherine of Houston, son Jeff Lawrie and wife Kim and their children Nicholas, Christopher, Michael, and Jacob of Dallas; siblings: Richard Lawrie and wife, Toni, of Harvest, AL, Douglas Lawrie of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, sisters-in-law Mary Jane Logan of Quincy, IL and Cindy Reed of Batavia, IL, and brother-in-law Russ Reed and wife, Brie, of Hurricane, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals For The Elderly or Holy Angels Catholic Church.
