Raymond Truitt Deweber

03/30/2015 - 16:09 , by johnb

Raymond Truitt Deweber, 58, passed from this earth to his home in heaven on March 29, 2015.

He was born December 31, 1956 in Bowie, Texas and speaking of his New Years' Eve birthday, he always said "they saved the best for last". Yes they did.

He married Teri Gee on June 30, 1979 in Henrietta, Texas following an almost 4-year courtship while she finished high school. They truly had a special bond that they shared with their son, Jeremy Truitt Deweber. Raymond and Jeremy lovingly referred to their relationship as being "two peas in a buddy", a phrase Jeremy coined for them as a young boy.

Raymond was a cowboy in the truest sense. He wasn't a Stetson-wearing, horse-riding cowboy, but a person who truly loved the business and loved the animals he cared for so meticulously. He had a gift for the business and was able to calculate weights, cost of gain and profit margins at lightning speed without the use of a calculator. When his health caused him to leave the business years ago, it took a massive emotional toll on him. As his health continued to decline, his son surrounded him with cattle figurines and drew and painted bulls for his hospital and bedroom walls as a measure of comfort.

Raymond was known for his dry wit, loyalty and generosity to family and friends. He loved people with everything he had to give. He was a member of Grape Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Nell Deweber of Jacksboro.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Teri, and son, Jeremy, both of the home in Grape Creek; his father, Truman Deweber of Jacksboro; a brother, Randy Deweber of Jacksboro; and his special father- and mother-in-law, Jerry and Darlene Gee of Gainesville, who made the long trip so often and faithfully to see him.

Family visitation is set for 6:00-8:00 pm at Johnson's Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Grape Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Grape Creek Cemetery under direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.

Special thanks to Judy and Franz Zwaschka, wonderful friends; Vanessa and Kavana, his caregivers; the wonderful people of Gentiva Hospice; and Dr. Ty Hughston who guided us through the process. Dr. Hughston, he is basking in full sunlight right now.
