Sally Ione Reed, 89, went to meet her maker on Saturday, March 5, 2016 in San Angelo. She was born December 19, 1926 to Robert & Maude Fortson of Abilene, Texas. Ione married the love of her life, John Lee (Buster) Reed on July 2, 1948 in San Angelo. As a young woman, Ione began a career as a colorist with Wallace Moritz Studio, where she became, at a very young age, the manager of the department overseeing 20 other women. With this as her primary career, she became interested in art and soon became a very accomplished artist; something she was always very proud of. She and her husband, Buster were always a large part of the cultural arts in San Angelo. After 20 years with Wallace Moritz she retired and started her own colorist business which she ran out of her home for over 10 years. Ione, never one to sit still for very long became interested in her husband's hobby, bench rest rifle shooting. Together they traveled the United States in competition, meeting and enjoying many friends that she still kept in touch with throughout the years. Later in life she decided she needed a change and started a new career as a Nanny. She helped to raise an untold number of children in San Angelo of which they all loved and adored as their "Omie". When she reached the point in her life to just stop, she began a canasta card group which met every week for a game of crazy canasta!!! In her final years, reading was her utmost passion... She lost herself in the beauty of her books and there she stayed until God saw fit to welcome her home.
