Barney Melton Floyd was born on Sept 28, 1930, near Miles, Texas, to Lucious Marshall Floyd and Lodusky Irene Paramore Floyd, the next-to-last of eight siblings. He grew up in San Angelo and attended Lake View schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was in Germany.
He passed away Feb. 22, 2016.
Barney married Francis Carolyn Adams on Dec. 23, 1954, in Sterling City and lived in San Angelo for their 58-year marriage. Until retirement, Barney spent his career as a salesman, including co-owning a business with his son, Mark Floyd.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; both parents; stepfather Jimmy Welburn; and all of his siblings.
He is survived by his children, Jeanie Shelton (Kent), Linda Klonz (Ralph), Mark Floyd and Duskie Marceau. He has five grandchildren: Bonnie Holder (Greg), Jeana Owens (Lance), Casee Flood (Andrew), Jarod Sims, and Lilly Hartgraves; seven great-grandchildren; and a myriad of precious nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016, in Fairmount Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of your choice.
