Born 12 July 1932 in Caddo Mills, Texas, the 9th child and 3rd son of Samuel T. Tawater and Hattie Alma Burts Tawater. Buddy passed away Saturday, 27 February 2016 in San Angelo, Texas. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday 2 March 2016, at Johnson Funeral Home. Having been ill the past several years, Buddy left this life peacefully in his sleep with his wife, Annabelle by his side at the Senior Care Meadow Creek Center on Oak Grove Blvd., where they resided. Buddy is survived by his 4 children, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandson: Daughter: Laura Tawater, her husband Erik Hille, daughter Becka Hille- Tawater of Boston, Mass. Grandaughter Elizabeth Tawater, and her husband Sanjay Krishnan of Sudbury, MA. Son: Lance Tawater, his wife Sandy of Boyd Texas; their son Jeremiah Tawater, his wife Lindsey and their son Triston Tawater of Kaufman Texas. Daughter: Andrea Tawater Robbins and her husband Scott Robbins of Eagle, Colorado Son: Eric Tawater of Mont Eagle, Tennessee His only living sister: Mary Louise Tawater Roberts of San Angelo
His 2nd wife Annabelle Tawater Numerous nieces and nephews Buddy attended school in several places while growing up. He graduated from high school in Grand Saline Texas, where he met and married the mother of his children. Buddy was a champion boxer in school and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Buddy who enjoyed camping and singing was fun loving and enjoyed good company. He and a couple of friends decided they would camp out at the cemetery and serenade the dead people. However, some classmates hid behind some tombstones scaring the boys thus ending their musical campout adventure. As a young man Buddy was resourceful developing many talents from architecture to marketing. He was mechanically inclined and learned quickly hard work paid off. Serving in the air force he learned he had a knack for engineering which he used after he got out of the Air Force, while employed at Collins Radio in the Garland Dallas area. With a couple of friends Buddy opened a business of their own in the electronics field. While collaborating with other companies in that field Buddy met Dave Packard. A mutual respect and friendship developed between Buddy and Dave that resulted in a successful lifetime career with Hewlett-Packard. Upon retirement he was encouraged by his sister, Mary Lou, to check out San Angelo as the place to live. After two days of looking around he and Annabelle were signing on the dotted line. They made many friends in their new hometown and their new church San Angelo First Baptist. Buddy Joe Tawater is preceded in death by his parent, Sam and Hattie Tawater and 7 of his 8 siblings.
