Brandi Renee Wright

Brandi Renee Baker Wright, 30, lost her long battle with Cystic Fibrosis on February 2, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family, holding her mother’s hand.

Viewing will be10:00am to 8:00pm Thursday, February 4, 2016 with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 to receive friends at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, February 5, 2016, at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel, with Bill Dooley officiating. Burial will take place in Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

She was born on May 26, 1985 to Bobby and Sharon (Guest) Baker in San Angelo, TX. She graduated from school at Central High School in 2003. She later married Dustin Wright.

Brandi was always a happy soul. She could light up a room with her radiant smile and humor. She loved unique items, collecting all kinds of things, a trip to the store and always enjoyed visiting her Granny and Papa’s place at the lake. Drawing and animals had a special place in her heart which was full of gold and she was willing to help anyone in need.

Pallbearers will be Brent Baker, Salvador Martinez, Steve Wilha, Jerry Guest, Dalton Simmons and Chad Wright.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Rowdy Shackelford who left the day before to prepare Heaven for her.

Survivors include her husband, Dustin Wright, daughter, Scarlett Wright both of San Angelo, parents, Bobby and Sharon Baker of Big Spring, brother, Brent Baker of Denton, grandmothers, Helen Shackelford and Anna Baker both of San Angelo, grandfathers, Jerry Guest of Big Spring and Robert (Donna) Baker of Klamath Falls, OR, her Bestie, Nicole Schaefer of Puyallup, WA., numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, a very special niece and nephew.

Special thanks to all of the caregivers who assisted our family during her lifetime.

Loleta Davis

Loleta Dempsey Davis joined her Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Bryan Texas.
Loleta was born to Albert T and Lola Bullock Burleson April 14, 1928 in Ft. McKavett in the Long building. Loleta married Tom Dempsey December 29, 1945 and raised their four children in Eldorado Texas.
Loleta was resilient, loved to have fun and devoted to her family. Loleta taught her children to care for others, work hard and appreciate all the blessings they were given. Because of her example her Christian heritage will continue for generations. She will be loved eternally because of her love and faith in God.
Loleta is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alberta and Beverly; two husbands, Tom Dempsey and Horace Davis; son, Dwain Dempsey and grandson, Scott Dempsey.
She is survived by brother, Jim Burleson and wife Bettye of Bangs, Texas; son, Tom (Mike) Dempsey and wife Leesa of San Angelo Texas; daughter, Tommye Nance and husband Jeff of Tahoka Texas; daughter, Elaine Smith and husband Edward of Bryan, Texas. In addition, Loleta has six grandchildren, Trey Nance and wife Trista of Allen, Texas, Michael Nance of California, Misty Nance of Lubbock, Texas, Dustin Dempsey and wife Shana of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Edward Smith and wife Marcy of Austin, Texas, Jonathan Smith and wife Amber of Richmond, Texas and nine great grandchildren.
Loleta will be interred with graveside services in Eldorado Texas Friday February 5 at 1:00 pm

LaDelle Ayers Carter

LaDelle Ayers Carter, 91, passed peacefully away on Saturday February 1, 2016, at Shannon Hospital. She was married to Lonnie L. Carter on April 23, 1943 in Ballinger Texas, and is survived by her children Patricia Ann Burditt (Kip), Cynthia Martin Baker (Cary) and Joe Mark Carter (Carrie), all of San Angelo and Ron Carter (Deena) of New Braunfels, Texas. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sisters, Mary Ann Hill, Lelia Pate and sister-in-law, Bettye Ayers, and many nephews, nieces and friends who loved her. She had two sons precede her in death, John Alton Carter (Marissa) of San Angelo, Texas and Larry Dale Carter of Medford , Oregon, along with brothers, John Alton Ayers of San Antonio Texas, Harold Ray Ayers and Lansford Earl Ayers Jr., all of San Angelo, Texas. LaDelle Carter was the widow of a United States Air Force veteran, Lonnie Carter, and was a member of the Disabled American Veteran Auxillary in San Angelo. She was a very large part of the San Angelo Levi Strauss Company plant operations for over 18 years. After retiring from Levi, she became extremely active in changing the lives of hundreds of children in San Angelo over the years by volunteering and caring for all of them at the San Angelo Day Nursery for over 17 years. The love she provided to all these children was as deep as the love she gave to all her children and grandchildren who knew her only as Gaga. Mom's lasting legacy to her children and grandchildren was her immeasurable capacity for unconditional love. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Meadowcreek Nursing Home and Pat Clay, Virginia, Jonie and Tulia for their love and care for mom.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Johnsons Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2016 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the chapel of Johnson's Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the West Texas Boys Ranch, 10223 Boys Ranch Rd, San Angelo, TX 76904.

Janet Kay Reeves

Janet Kay Reeves, 69, of San Angelo, Texas, joined the Lord on Jan. 29, 2016. She was born on the 13th of November, 1946, in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Janet's world travels began in 1954, when she lived in Panama and attended an elementary school in Balboa in the Canal Zone. In 1957, she was living in Wichita, Kansas, with her grandparents, and by 1958, she was in school in Wichita Falls, Texas. She and her sister practically lived on the beach and in Bedwood Forest when the family moved to Riverside, California. From there, Janet found herself in the Taipei American School in Taiwan, and taking trips back to California to visit friends and family and Disneyland. In 1961, Janet moved to San Antonio, Texas, and worked with her sister in a bakery while in school. She graduated from Radford High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1965. Janet lived on campus until she received her degree from Eastern New Mexico University, then moved to San Angelo, Texas, with the rest of her family returning from Hawaii. She was married to Robert Glenn Reeves on the 13th of April, 1968, and enjoyed immensely her career in childcare for over four decades. She cherished her experiences and memories with the countless children, and then their own children, over her many years of dedicated service and tutelage. She was an avid sports fan, dedicated member and leader of ARCCH and the Gideons, and had an incomparable passion for Christ. She is survived by her husband, Robert Glenn Reeves of San Angelo; sons Charles Reeves of Denver and Don Ray Reeves of San Angelo; sisters Paula Ackerman, Terri Meyer, Kathy Taylor; her father, Melvin Meyer; and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Meyer of San Angelo, Texas. There will be a public viewing from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at Glen Meadows Baptist Church with a graveside service to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made in Janet's name to Gideons International.

Rowdy Lynn Shackelford

Rowdy Shackelford, 85, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 1, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Rowdy was born March 18, 1930 in Marathon, Texas to the late Lyndell and Merle Gulihur Shackelford. He was a heavy equipment operator in San Angelo for over 40 years, even returning to it after his initial retirement. He met and married the love of his life, Helen Morton, on July 23, 1983 here in San Angelo.
Rowdy served in the US Army, 1st Calvary Division, during the Korean War Operation Commando and was wounded in action on October 3, 1951. He was a longtime member of the Purple Heart, Chapter 740, and a lifetime member and former Commander of VFW Post 1815. He was also a longtime member of the Business Men's Bible Class at Rio Concho Manor and was a member of the First Methodist Church in Marathon.
Rowdy loved his family and spending quality time with them, especially his grandkids and now walks hand in hand in Heaven with his granddaughter, Brandi. He was an extremely avid story teller and would tell story's to anyone who would listen.
Rowdy was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Lois Farris and Janie Lindsey.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Helen Shackelford of San Angelo; step children, Sal and Linda Martinez of San Angelo, Jerry and Jody Guest of Big Spring, Sharon and Robert Baker of Big Spring and Kathy and Steve Wilha of Haltom City; brother, Mackey J. Shackelford and his wife Marilyn of Marathon, brother in law, Dewayne Lindsey of Rankin; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation, remembrance and "story telling" will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday at Johnson's Funeral Home. Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday at Johnson's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Darrell Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be members of the Purple Heart and honorary pallbearers will be his sons in law and grandsons.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Purple Heart Chapter 740, 325-227-2051 or can be sent c/o the family.

Jose Joe Juarez Zapata

Jose "Joe" Juarez Zapata, 88, of San Angelo, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 31, 2016. He was born to the late, Donicio and Jesusita Juarez Zapata on May 22, 1927 in Del Rio, Texas. He married Andrea Jasso also in Del Rio. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Joe was known as a hard working man, that always put others before himself. When he spoke, everyone listened. At the age of 35, he gave his life to Christ. He was dedicated to his faith and even when he got to the point in which he could barely walk, he always managed to get to church. He was a member of Eglesia Casa De Restauracion. Joe also enjoyed fishing with family and friends. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Ernest Zapata, Jr.; and siblings, Pablo Zapata, Teresa Ruiz, Delores Rodriguez and Otelia Cruz.
Survivors include his children, Jose Zapata, Jr., Maria Castaneda, Elodia Rios, Maria Herrera, Pablo Zapata, Diana Zapata, Ernest Zapata, Cynthia Zapata, and Robert Zapata; 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in the Johnson's Funeral Chapel with a time of visitation to follow. Pastor Alex Tenorio will officiate. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 3, 2016 also in the Johnson's Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Valerie Hubbard Taylor, 60, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016. Visitation will be held all day Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Shaffer Funeral Home in Robert Lee. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2016 in Robert Lee Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
Valerie was born in Coleman, TX on August 1, 1955 to Dole and Ettie Hubbard. She graduated from Bronte High School in 1973 and participated in the Longhorn Band and lettered in Basketball. She studied at American Commercial College in Abilene, in the area of Secretarial Science. She worked at the Sterling County Hospital and Robert Lee Care Center. She also worked at Sun Oil/Orynx at Silver, TX as a Secretary.
She was preceded in death by her son, William Tray Taylor, who died on August 9, 2010; parents, Dole and Ettie (Windham) Hubbard; siblings, Sheila Hubbard, Tonja Hubbard and Gary Hubbard.
Valerie is survived by her nieces and nephew, Aaron and Maranda Hood (Braylee, Brewer and Brennen), Sandra Flores and her dad Jessie Flores of Robert Lee, Kassey and Dean Lay (JayCee) of Mertzon and Misty and Rob Ferguson (Chloe) of Hamilton, Ohio.
She had many friends and was always willing to lend a hand. She had a natural caring spirit to help others. Her son Tray was her whole world and she had an aching heart ever since she lost him in 2010.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Robert Lee Care Center. Many blessing to all of you who cared for her since June of 2014. She always hoped and prayed that there would be a cure one day. Please pray for a cure and for the families out there suffering with the curse of Huntington's Disease.
