Carolina G. Gallegos, 96, died peacefully on April 07, 2018, with family by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved sewing and crocheting, cooking, gardening, but most of all her husband, children, and grandchildren. Carolina was born January 09, 1922, to Jose and Ignacia Gonzales in San Angelo, Texas. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday April 12, at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel, 435 W. Beauregard, San Angelo, Texas 76903. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 pm Thursday in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel, following the visitation. Carolina's funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. Friday April 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9 West Avenue N, San Angelo, Texas 76903. Following the funeral mass, the Burial will be held at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, 4989 FM Highway 1223, San Angelo, Texas 76905. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral home. Carolina is survived by her children Grace Settell and Ruben Gallegos, of San Ang lo, TX; Danny Gallegos of Phoenix, AZ; Jose Varela of Sacramento, CA; James Gallegos, and Viv Bailey. Carolina was preceded in death by loving husband Roberto O. Gallegos, son Robert A. Gallegos; nephew Gregory Attila Szatmari; her brother Juan Arambula, and sister Juanita Hernandez, and many other loving family members. As a young woman Carolina worked as a farm laborer in various parts of the country including Texas, Colorado, Califo nia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, ,Idaho, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, North Carolina, North and South Dakota, Illinois and Iowa. She also worked as an aide for Shannon Hospital, in San Angelo, Texas. After World War II Carolina married her special friend Roberto Gallegos, in 1948 in Sonora, Texas. They had a blissful marriage for 62 years, living in Texas and California. While in Sacramento, CA, she worked for the Sacramento Unified School District, first as an instructional aide at Maple Elementary school, and then as a teacher's aide and translator at Fremont School for adults (Parent and Preschool Education). While working as a teacher's aide Carolina received many citations for Outstanding Service. Carolina is also survived by 12 Grandchildren; 19 Great-Grandchildren;9 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Grandchildren: Gina Parks of Carmichael, CA; Genelle Mendza of Ozona, TX; Marci Gallegos of Las Vegas, NV; Jayna Casanova of Phoenix, AZ; Anthony Andreotti of Santa Rosa, CA; Jon Andreotti of Englewood, CO; Kimberlee Harwood of Sacramento, CA; Jared Gallegos, Carolina Varela, Josh Gallegos, and Kristen Andreotti. Great-Grandchildren: Greg A. Szatmari Jr., Natalie Hurtado, Eddie Romo, Lleland Mendoza, Adrian McClintock, Ashley McClintock, Aliyah Choyke, Amiya Johnson; McKyla, Devin, Tai, Jayna Jr, Keaonie, Alexis, Roberto, Timoteo, Eliseo, Ismael, Carolina, Miguel, Jasmine. Great-Great-Grandchildren: Daniela, Vincent, Isaiah, Adrian Jr., Gianna, Blake, Eliseo Jr., Ana and Giovanni. She is also survived by her sister Margarita Langford, and niece Mary Gonzales, of San Angelo, TX; Mary Grove of El Paso TX; Niece and Nephews: Otilia Daniel of Refugio, TX; Mercedes Ornelas of San Angelo, TX; Chele Moteavaro of Estancia, NM; Eva and Ismael Perez of Thornton, CO; Beto Hernandez of San Angelo, TX; Elizabeth and Larry Bley, and Kerry Hocker of Union City, CA; Rosa De Lima Oseguera, Ramon and Anita of Hamilton City, CA; Nina Gehring of Chico, CA; Jose Luis Gallegos of Paradise, CA; Special friend Elizabeth Tafoya of San Angelo, TX; Celia Cardenas of Stockton, CA. She is also survived by many, many, loving nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends in Hamilton City, and Paradise, CA, and numerous cities in Texas, Arizona, Nevada and Wyoming. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the Shannon Clinic and especially Drs. Grant Taylor, Stephen W. Coates, David A. Cummings, Elisa K. Brantly, Wael Richeh, Matthew A. Goldman, and Gary Nussey. The family is thankful for all gestures of kindness, calls and extended friendships. The family would also like to thank Carolina's neighbors for all their help and thoughtfulness. Her pallbearers are her sons, Ruben Gallegos, Daniel Gallegos, her nephew Ruben Reyes, son-in-laws David Walters, Nick Settell and Mario Mendoza, and honorary pallbearer Hector Gonzales.
