Kenneth L. Welch

06/19/2016 - 13:14 , by johnb
Kenneth Leo "KL" Welch, 77 dearly loved husband, daddy and "Pappy" went to a better place on June 16, 2016 where he is now complete and healthy. A life-long resident of San Angelo, he attended school at Lake View High School. He was a member of Lake View Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Though saddened by the loss, we cherish our memories of the kind, sweet and funny man that enjoyed nothing more than being with his family. He was talented in wood and metal working. Most say there was nothing he could not make with his hands. He even crafted a pair of spurs, in which he proudly displayed on Coach Mack Brown's wall. He also crafted other items such as two knives, crosses and his daughter's earrings. Pappy was adored by and the hero to his grandchildren who will never forget the wisdom he shared, or the stories he told of hunting and fishing and the adventures of "Pork of Chop Hill. "Survivors include wife of 60 years and the love his life, Barbara; son- Jimmy Welch; daughters-Lisa Friend(Zane), Christy Scandolari (Ron) and Kala Pfingsten (Brent); grandchildren- Brady Whitaker, Bryce and Macy Pfingsten, Bailey Welch, and Haze Friend; sisters- Gwen Duncan and Pat Foster. He was preceded in death by parents Leo and Evelyn Welch. Special Friends and "partners in crime" include Jimmy "J.O." Lane , Lyn Garnett, the late Clyde Owen, Tommy Nasworthy, J.B. Self, and Fred Ellis, Galen Moeller, Gardner Wiseheart, Jim Howell, and his dog, Snuffy, the staff at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. We smile as we remember the, "breaker 1-9" days, our "Copper Man" is over and out. Graveside services will be Monday, June 20, 10:00 A.M. at Fairmount Cemetery, Rev. Bob Beaver officiating.

Dewey Wayne Braddock

06/19/2016 - 13:12 , by johnb

Dewey Wayne Braddock, 64, of San Angelo, passed away at his home, surrounded by loved ones after a long fought battle with MDS and Leukemia on Thursday, June 16, 2016. He was born to the late, Edward Dewey and Minnie Moore Braddock on June 20, 1951 in San Angelo. Dewey married the love of his life, Dianne McCoulskey on October 4, 1974 in San Angelo. They often fought over who first loved the other. Dianne truly showed her love in caring for him, as his "private nurse" in his last days. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Grape Creek. Dewey worked as a Diesel Mechanic for over 40 years. Many said that he was a "workaholic". He was a true gentle giant, always being a giving and loving man. He was a believer in living up to expectations and standards as well. Dewey had a talent for making everyone feel special. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, tinkering with anything he could get his hands on, and watching old westerns when he had free time. He was a sports fan of all kinds. Dewey was a fighter through the grace of God. He often said "God is great" when speaking of the trials in his life and how he was brought through them. Dewey will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him, but especially his grandbabies who he enjoyed fussing with him over who loved the other more, as they enjoyed Coke floats together. Remember him when you eat his favorite foods in the days to come, many of which he requested in his final days from his family and friends, who faithfully prepared and brought to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Jonathan Braddock.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Braddock; daughters, Jennifer Braddock and Amy Odell and her husband, Josh; granddaughters, Khloe and Klaridi Odell; brothers, Stephen Braddock and his wife, Mary, Robert Braddock, Jerry Braddock, and Mark Braddock; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends, including his mother-in-law, whom he was very close to and now feels like she lost a child herself, Roena McCoulskey.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff members of MD Anderson, Shannon Medical Center, Methodist Hospital of San Antonio, Hospice of San Angelo and especially his sister-in-law, Traci Salvato and all of his brothers for the loving care and support given not only to Dewey, but to the whole family during his journey home.
A celebration of his life will be held on his 65th birthday, Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Johnson's Funeral Chapel with a reception to follow. Family and friends are encouraged to wear orange to the celebration and share memories and photos.
Memorial donations may be made to Somebody's Rusty, MDS, or Leukemia foundations as well as donate blood or platelets in his honor. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo.
