Betty Lou Snider

Betty Lou Snider, 87, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday November 17, 2016. 

She was born on November 21, 1928 to Joseph and Ellie (Veazey) Hale in Hay Valley, TX. On May 21, 1946 she married Otha Snider in Jonesboro, TX. Betty worked for GTE for 38 years, where she started as an Operator. She held various positions during her career and retired as an Associate Engineer.

She was a member of Edmund Blvd. Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otha Snider; brother, Harvey Hale; sisters, Ailene Morgan, Ruth Beck and Quillie Moore.

Betty is survived by her sons, Jim (Kathy) Snider of Bryan, TX, Joe Snider, Jesse (Nancy) Snider and daughter, Jerri (Lynn) Halfmann all of San Angelo, grandchildren, Jessica (Steven) Atkinson and Kimberley Higginbotham of Bryan, Brian Fox of Austin, Trent Fox, Jason (Royal) Snider, Jeremy Snider, Amanda (David Luna) Plummer and Aaron Plummer all of San Angelo, Marcus (Amy) Halfmann of Garden City, Marla (Jesse Cooper) Halfmann and Michelle (Chase) Chastain of Greenwood, 12 great-grandchildren and sister, Judy Freeman of Brownwood.

Visitation will be held 10:00am to 2:00pm Monday November 21, 2016 at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel, with Pastor Tony Valdez, of Edmund Blvd. Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Ruth May Dalton, 91, of San Angelo, passed away on November 12, 2016 at home in Justin, Texas. 
Ruth was born on February 28, 1925 to Benjamin and Dosha (Chapman) Jackson in Anton, Texas. Ruth was a homemaker, raising her three children. On December 4, 1941, she married Jess Dalton in Anton. She was an avid bowler and loved cooking all the many vegetables Jess grew in his garden. 
Ruth is survived by her two sons, Eddie Theron Dalton of Garland, TX, Gregory Lynn (Valerie) Dalton of Bay Point, CA; Daughter, Debbie May (Randall) Haire of Justin, TX; Three Grandsons, Mike Dalton, Ted Dalton, Brian Dalton; Three Granddaughters, Amanda Parmelly, Monica Dalton, Dianna Aufderheide; eight great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Lawrence and Dosha Elizabeth Jackson, husband, Jess C Dalton along with seven brothers and sisters.
Family visitation will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 18, 2016, at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Chaplain Mike Andress, officiating. Burial will take place in the Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to her caregiver, Ben Reeves; along with Cheri Pinchback, Becky Greathouse and numerous neighbors for all the love and care shown to mother. Words can not express our gratitude.

James Edward Gray Sr.

James "Jubal" Edward Gray Sr., 75, of San Angelo, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather ascended to his home in Glory Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his home. 

He was born on March 14, 1941 to Willie and Bessie (Alexander) Gray in Paris, TX. 
On January 1, 1960, he married the love of his life Stella Mae Ellis; to this union, nine children were born. James worked in meat packing for many years until he retired. He loved to BBQ.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Stella; daughter, Yolanda Gray; son, Tyrone Gray and a sister, Alma Gray.

Survivors include; daughter, Bessie Ruth (James) Phillips of De Soto, son, Willie Earl (Sylvia) Gray of San Angelo, son, James Edward (Jennifer) Gray, Jr. of San Angelo, daughter, Sheila Gray of San Angelo, son, Victor Dwayne (Mary) Gray, Sr. of Weatherford, son, Leandro Rafael (Ylia) Gray, Sr. of Gail, daughter, Teresa Diana (Avery Lamont) Foster of San Angelo, brothers, Donald (Bobbie) Gray of San Diego, CA. and Troy Wilbur (Annie Fay) Gray of Paris, TX, 

Pallbearers will be John Newton, Danny Hicks, Earl Turner, Rodney Johnson, Lamont Foster, Tyrun Gray, Sr., Jerry Gray, James Phillips, Jesse Lewis and Charles Mitchell

Viewing will be 10:00am to 8:00pm on Friday, November 18, 2016, with family present from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm to receive friends at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, San Angelo. Burial will take place in the Delta Memorial Park under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral. Home

Jim Grady Garmon

Jim Grady Garmon of Wall, Texas, age 73, took his last breath here on earth and his first one in Heaven on November 15, 2016. Surrounded by his loving family, Jim peacefully went to be with his best friend and Savior, Lord Jesus Christ at a local nursing home.
Jim was born in Wall, Texas on May 15, 1943 to Fred and Mary D. Garmon. Jim attended Baptist Bible College in Springville, Missouri and Sul Ross University campus location in Uvalde, Texas.
He married his loving wife of 37 years, Betty Sue Roberts on June 8, 1979. Jim lived most his life in Uvalde and Wall, Texas. Jim was a licensed Baptist minister. He was an active member of the Veribest Baptist Church. Jim loved learning Spanish and made several mission trips to Honduras.
He loved his Lord and enjoyed listening to Gospel music, especially the Gaither Homecoming videos. Jim enjoyed listening to and watching his favorite preachers including Lester Roloff, WA Chriswell, Adrian Rogers, and Charles Stanley. Jim was a prayer warrior, a devout reader of the Word of God and spent much time talking to his Lord.
He loved to hunt, drive around on the family farms, and loved spending time with his dog Buddy. Jim loved football and was a Dallas Cowboy’s fan. He loved to read, with the Bible being his favorite book to read. He also received many blessings from his favorite author, Watchman Nee. 
Following in his dad’s footsteps, Jim was a water well driller. He was appointed and served several terms as a board member of the Texas Water Development Council.
Jim is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Garmon of Wall, son, Travis and his wife Kaci, their sons, Jarrett and Jensen of San Angelo, son Clayton Garmon and his wife Brittany, their children Kenzie and Klaytin Grady of Wall, Texas, niece Donna Garmon, numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Martha Roberts, and brothers Donald and Ralph Garmon.
Pallbearers will be W.C. Smith, Jr., Les Duncan, Dan Reed, Brian Halfmann, Norman Dierschke, and Charlie Ray.
The family offers heartful thanks to Geri, LaChieale, Elise, Kim and all the staff of Regency House. Thank you also to Greta and staff of Kindred Hospice.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas. Celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home with Reverend Joe West and Reverend Chad Leutwyler officiating. Burial will follow in the Wall Cemetery.

Hunter Daniel Griffin

Hunter Daniel Griffin of Eldorado, TX was born and passed away on November 8, 2016 at 9:35 AM.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, November 12th at Eldorado Cemetery Chapel with Pastor McBride of Eldorado First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be followed at Eldorado Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Hunter Daniel Griffin was born at Shannon Women and Children's Center to Kathryn Dena Griffin on November 8, 2016. Hunter was Kathryn's first and was always considered to be a miracle from the start. Although his heart never had the chance to beat outside the womb, he will continue to live on through the hearts of the many others that loved him. 

Hunter Daniel is survived by Kathryn Griffin (mother), Kristopher Barham (father), Grandfather/Grandmother Craig and Cyndi Griffin, Grandfather Kieth Barham, Tera and Ricky Plata (aunt/uncle), Clayton Griffin (uncle), Great-Grandparents Judy and Larry Robinson, Alene and Leon Sexton and Don and Shirley Mitchell.

Memorials may be given to The White Rose Support Group at Shannon Women's and Children's Hospital.

The family of Hunter Daniel Griffin wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Kelly Wilson and all of the wonderful nurses and various other staff with Shannon Women's and Children's who helped us through this heartbreaking time.

Diana M. Cadena, 45, of San Angelo, passed away on November 7, 2016 at her residence. 

Diana was born on January 5, 1971 to Estevan and Carolina (Gutierrez) Montez in San Angelo. She worked as a Travel Agent for numerous years in Texas. Diana was an avid traveler, having visited many locations in the USA and several abroad. On April 30, 2016, she married Hector in San Angelo. She was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, where she was baptized and received her sacraments. Diana and Hector enjoyed going kayaking together, spending time with their pets and she loved scrap booking and sewing.

Diana is survived by her loving spouse Hector, parents, Estevan and Carolina Montez, brother, Jim Montez, sister, Alicia (Joe) Parrish, brother, George (Elizabeth) Montez all of San Angelo, sister, Maria L. (Armando) Sosa of San Antonio, brother, Richard (Debbie) Montez of Arlington along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents, Jesus and Tiburcia Gutierrez, Paternal Grandmother, Vicenta Gutierrez and Paternal Grandfather, Santiago Montez.

Rosary will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at the St. Margaret Catholic Church, with Father Santiago Udayar, officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to Kindred Hospice, 112 W Concho Ave, San Angelo, TX 76903.

Donald Lee Hughes

Donald Lee Hughes, 78, of San Angelo, passed away on Saturday November 5, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on November 25, 1937 to Louie and Mae (Evans) Hughes in Joplin, MO. On March 3, 1955, he married Nadine Parker in San Angelo, TX. Donnie worked as a truck driver for most of his life. Donnie was a foster parent of approximately 150 children over the span of 22 years. He loved to hunt and fish, loved to play practical jokes and tease everyone he came across, as well as spend time with his family. 

He was a member of Full Gospel Assembly Church. 

Donnie is survived by his loving spouse of 61 years, Nadine, three sons, Andy of Dallas, David of San Angelo, Rendon of Wichita, KS; his in-laws, Don and Maxine Whitesell, Beryl, Bobby, and Jerry Parker all of San Angelo, TX; a sister, Sharon K. Barnett of Pittsburg, KS, and host of nieces, nephews, grand children, and great grand children.

He was preceded in death by parents, siblings, Ronald, David, Nancy, and Jackie; and a daughter, Debra Ann Hughes.

Memorial services will be held 11:00am Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Full Gospel Assembly Church with L. C. Messer and Shirley Cheesman, officiating, under the direction of San Angelo Funeral Home

Special thanks to all of the nurses and staff of Hospice of San Angelo for their dedicated and loving care provided to Donnie.

Argelia Lira

Argelia Lira, 56, of Lewisville went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, November 3, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born October 15, 1960 in Brady, TX., to Tomas Rosas and Antonia (Perez) Lira Sr. 

Argelia was a proud member of the San Angelo Central High School Band, class of 1979. She loved baking. During the Christmas season, she would bake cookies and goodies to give as Christmas gifts. Argelia loved sports; her Dallas Cowboys, she would go to Thanksgiving Day games when possible; her Texas Rangers, she went to as many home games that she could and attended all the home games of the 2010 and 2011 World Series; her Dallas Stars, she went to games when possible, especially New Year’s Eve ones.

To honor her you are more than welcome to wear her team colors or your team colors or purple. She loved purple.
Argelia loved Country music, especially George Strait and Brook and Dunn and all kinds of Tejano music. 
Argelia worked for Sears in her early working years. Later, she was called to work for Red Wing Shoes. She used to be a “floater” manager. That position took her to travel the country. That lead to her being able to travel with her sister and brother to the locations she worked. She finally settled down to manage a store in Carrollton.

Family visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with rosary at 7:00pm on Saturday, November 12, 2016, with Jessie Aguirre, officiating at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

She is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, her father and numerous aunts and uncles.

Survivors include her mother, Antonia P. Lira, sister, San Juana Lira and brother, Tomas Lira Jr., 
all of San Angelo, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Central High School band at http://www.chsbobcatband.org or to your local high school band, The National Kidney Foundation at https://www.kidney.org/support or to a charity of your choice.

Dwight William Thacker

Dwight William Thacker, 36, of San Angelo formerly of Bellville, TX., joined the Lord on Sunday, November 13, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Dwight, affectionately known as Dub, was born August 4, 1980 in Houston, Texas to Sharon Eileen Perry Thacker and Larry Thomas Thacker. He graduated from Bowie High School in Austin in 1998. Dub lived and worked in Bellville but had recently moved to San Angelo to attend Howard College. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, father and friend to everyone. Dub was revered by peers and coworkers as a loyal, hardworking and dedicated person. Dub never met a stranger and had the most incredible giving spirit and heart. In his spare time, he loved fishing, cook-offs and grilling for family and friends. He also loved baseball and football. The pride and joy of his life was his son Trent. Dub will be dearly missed and his life and love will live on in our hearts. He is survived by his Mother, Eileen Cook, of Bellville; his Twin Sister, Karen Fishbeck, of Bellville; his Father and Step-mother, Tom and Belinda Thacker, of Jones, Creek; his Brothers, Jim Thacker and wife, Becky, and Steve Thacker and wife, Maurie; his Grandparents, Dwight Thacker, of Angleton, Bill and Jerry Perry, of San Angelo, and C.W and Lynda Hunter, of Jones Creek; his Son, Trent Thacker, of Tucson, AZ; Trent’s Mother, Loralye Fiscus, of Tucson, AZ; his nieces and nephews, Callie, Tyler and Eli Fishbeck, Jake, Sydney, Baily and Ben Thacker; his Aunts and Uncles, Allen and Vicki Perry, Connie and Mark Moore, Marsha and Dan Mathis; his Cousins, Perry and Colin Moore and Bryan Perry. He is survived by a host of friends who dearly loved him. A graveside service will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Fairmount Cemetery. There will be a Memorial Service and Celebration of Dub’s Life at 10:30 A.M., on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Bellville United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Young Life Program of Bellville, Bellville - TX383, 208 Lisa Ln Bellville, TX 77418-3402.
