"MeeMaw" Porter Jo Ann

Jo Ann " MeeMaw" Porter, of Santa Anna, passed away on June 16, 2019. 

Jo was born in Santa Anna to John and Edith (Shields) Gilbert on March 19, 1941; the oldest of 5 children. She married Jack Porter on September 17, 1960 and they shared 58 wonderful years together. 

She was an office manager for automobile dealerships, including, Mustang Chevrolet, Lynn Alexander and Jim Bass Ford, but her greatest accomplishment was always her family. 

She is preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Patricia Stapleton and son Don Woodrow Gilbert. 

She is survived by her husband, Jack Porter, daughter; Sandra Warner and husband, Gary; sons; Randy Porter and wife, Jane, Danny Porter and wife, Debbie, sister in law; Lynda Gilbert, sister, Wanda Bailey and husband, James Bailey, brother, Dale Gilbert, 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. 

The family of Jo Porter wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Hospice off San Angelo for the loving care shown to our family. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of San Angelo. 

I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. 

I though about you yesterday and the days before that too. 

I think of you in silence. I often speak your name. 

All I have are memories and your picture in a frame. 

Your memory is my keepsake, with which I'll never part. 

God as you in His keeping... I have you in my heart.

Henderson Ballard Betty Ruth

Betty Ruth Henderson Ballard, of San Angelo, went to be with the Lord peacefully on June 15, 2019 in San Angelo. 

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM and the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Fairmount Cemetery with Brother George Cooper, formally of Grace Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. 

Betty Ballard was born in Cisco to Lula Irene Gage & Mark Henderson on November 11, 1926. She married George Melvin Ballard, Jr. on September 6, 1943 in Mertzon. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1981. Betty owned her own business and worked as a beautician for 55 years. Betty found joy in talking to everyone and was not shy to share stories and bring laughter to those around her. Betty loved her children and grandchildren and loved being involved their lives. She spent much of her free time outside working in the yard. 

Betty Ballard is preceded in death by her parents, and a son K.C. Ballard on October 18, 1992, a brother and three sisters. 

Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Large and husband Speedy of Orange, and Georgia Carr and husband Dwaine of San Angelo; her son, Kye Ballard of San Angelo; seven grandchildren, Venessa Shannon, Gennie Large, Pam Constance, Jason Carr of Wall, Tammy Dunn and husband Mike of Rowena, Kristie Herring and husband Tripp of Miles, and Dillion Ballard and wife Rachel of San Angelo; 13 great grandchildren. 

The family of Betty Ballard wishes to extend our sincere thanks to her loving family at Sagecrest.

Rosalina P Flores, of San Angelo, passed away on June 16, 2019.  Viewing will commence at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, June 18,2019 with at Rosary being read at 7:00 pm at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North.  Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church with interment following at Calvary Cemetery.  Survivors include her husband, Ismael Flores and children.

Hamilton Aaron

Aaron D. Hamilton, 93, passed gently from this world on June 15th, 2019. Aaron was born January 29,1926 in Ballinger, Texas to Aaron and Verna Lee (nee Dean)Hamilton. The family moved to San Angelo in 1928 following the death of his father. After attending San Angelo Central High, Aaron joined the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1944 and served proudly until his honorable discharge in November 1945. Aaron returned home and worked at a local grocers while studying bookkeeping. During this time a friend told him about an opening for a mail carrier at the local U.S. Post Office. Aaron was hired and he worked there for the next 35 years until his retirement. Aaron enjoyed woodworking for many years and was always generous with his creative projects. There was very little that he couldn't make. He loved NASCAR and had an encyclopedic knowledge of the drivers, owners, and crews of the various cars. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Leroy Hamilton, sister Betty Lynn Autry Smith, and his beloved wife of 48 years, Paula Smith Hamilton. Aaron is survived by his sister Margie Mae H. Scarborough, children Aaron T. Hamilton (Gilda), Nancy H. Kneupper (Edward), Sherill Wood, Jeff Havard (Keren Harris), Perry Havard (Carla Horn), and Randy Havard (Leah); grandchildren Austin Hamilton, Bryan Hamilton, Brandon Kneupper, Stephanie K. Miller, Shawna Wood, Lauren H. Somers, Heather Havard, Sabrina H. Atkins, Perry Havard, Derian Havard, and Caden Havard as well as 11 great grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 20th at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the staff at Shannon Medical Center for their exemplary care of our father/grandfather. Their skill and compassion are greatly appreciated. McDonald Fred

Our beloved father, Fred E. McDonald, passed away peacefully at his home on June 12, 2019. 
Fred McDonald was born on November 27, 1932, to Charles and Pearl McDonald. He graduated from San Angelo High School in 1950. After high school, Fred worked as a Draftsman at Malden Ballard. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and continued serving in the Army Reserves until 1958. The military gave Fred the opportunity to continue his education. He dreamed of becoming an architect and was able to do so through the GI Bill. He attended San Angelo College for 2 years and finished his education at Texas Tech University and The University of Texas. While at Texas Tech, he worked as a draftsman for Page, Sutherland, Page Architectural Firm. Fred also taught drafting classes for a brief time at San Angelo College. 
Fred married the love of his life, Sue Watson, on August 18, 1956. Sue and Fred spent many wonderful years together, traveling the world and raising their family. Together, Fred and Sue had three children, Melodie McDonald, Jeff McDonald and Genny McDonald Henderson. 
Throughout his life, Fred worked for many architectural and engineering firms. He went on to become partners with Jack McDermott, forming McDermott, McDonald Architectural Firm. Fred’s talent in architecture can be seen in buildings throughout all of San Angelo and West Texas. 
Fred was also heavily involved in the San Angelo community. He was a member of the Freemasonry where he was raised as a Master Mason with Lodge 570 of San Angelo, Texas on January 13, 1961. As a Master Mason, he obtained his 32nd Degree Mason and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He also devoted his time to Shriners, Rotary Club, Elks Club, City Planning Commission, Industrial Developers of San Angelo and the Home Builders Association. 
Fred and his wife Sue were always ready for an adventure. They enjoyed numerous trips around the world sponsored by General Electric. When Fred was not on a trip with his wife or working hard as an architect, he enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his many close friends and family. 
Later in life, Fred found the most joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He loved taking them on adventures and sat front row at all of their school and sporting events. He was their biggest fan and present for all of their achievements.

Elkins Guy

Guy Elkins, 87, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019, in San Angelo. 

Graveside Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton with Rev. Steve Ramirez, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Fort Stockton, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo. 

Mr. Elkins was born October 6, 1931 in Nixon to Robert and Corine Elkins. He moved to San Angelo in 2019 to be near his daughter after being a long-time resident of Fort Stockton. Guy married Mary Taylor in 1954, she preceded him in death on February 17, 1971. He later married Verna Mayse in 1975, she preceded him in death on May 27, 2016. He was a contract pumper for multiple companies before retiring in 1995. Guy was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church 

Guy is preceded in death by four brothers, Scott Elkins, Joe Elkins, Noel Elkins, and Earl Elkins; a sister Barbara McCracken; a step-daughter, Judy Puckett; and a grandson, Sonny Puckett. 

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Leavelle and husband James of San Angelo; a son, Robert Elkins of Fort Stockton, two step-sons, David Mayse and wife Cindy of Houston, Martin Mayse of Magnolia; a step-daughter, Jeannie Northcutt and husband Ricky of Fort Stockton; a son-in-law, Milton Puckett of Fort Stockton; 10 grandchildren, Taylor Leavelle, Mollie Leavelle, Marty Northcutt, Cody Northcutt, Allen Mayse, Julie Martinez, Mike Mayse, Terah Hogan, Natalie Roberts and Chris Puckett; and ten great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 54, Fort Stockton, Texas 79735.
