John David Liles

John David Liles, 63, passed away in his San Antonio, Texas home on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. He was born to Jerald Dell Liles and Mary Lynn Gonzales Liles on April 14, 1954 in Galena Park, Texas. He married Ginger Blaha on January 21, 1984 in Mertzon, Texas. John always wanted the best for his family; his children and grandsons were the light of his life. He was a man of Christian faith and strong will, who was competitive and proud of his accomplishments. John worked many years in construction before earning his Associates and becoming an electronics technician. John was extremely outgoing and never met a stranger. He was a very humorous person who loved to laugh. John enjoyed spending time with those he loved: playing board games, darts, and sports with family and friends. John also enjoyed riding his motorcycle whenever possible, and never went a day without listening to his classic rock music collection.

Survivors include his wife, Ginger Liles; daughters, Kristen Paige Tomblin, Kimberly Sue Liles, and Kayla Diane Liles; son-in-law, Gary Lynn Tomblin, II; grandsons, Gary Lynn Tomblin, III, and Mason Scott Tomblin; mother, Mary Lynn Gonzales Liles; father, Jerald Dell Liles and his wife, Cary Liles; sister, Linda Ann Mack and her husband, Ron Mack; nephews, Chase Mack and Colton Mack; and a host of other relatives and friends.

There will be a time of visitation from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Johnson's Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories, send condolences and sign the online guestbook at www.johnsons-funeralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the National Kidney Foundation , www.kidney.org . Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo, Texas.

Mary Ann Sherrod

Mary Ann Sherrod, 74, passed away May 16, 2017 in San Angelo, TX, released from the shackles of Parkinson's disease. She was born on November 21, 1942 in Hobbs, NM to Andy and Mary Lee Nixon. Mary Ann graduated from Eldorado High School in 1961; she continued her education at North Texas University. She married Hilton Sherrod on December 16, 1995. Mary Ann loved spending time with her pride and joy, her 3 children, she was always on the road and never missed a basketball or football game, band concert or 4-H event her kids were involved in. She enjoyed her kids, even more her grandkids. She was a member of Southgate Church of Christ and loved cooking, sewing and taking care of others. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Mary Lee Nixon and her sister, Judy Kay Lomax. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Hilton Sherrod; one sister, Linda Scroggins; sons, Randy Runge and wife, Robyn and Art Runge and wife, Shannon; daughter, Lisa Brown and husband, Michael; step-sons, Steve Sherrod and wife, Karen, Mitchell Sherrod and wife, Laura and Nick Sherrod and wife, Kindra; 13 grandkids and 7 great grandkids. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 in the chapel of Johnson's Funeral Home with Paul Shero officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank Inez Gonzales, Hannah Wright, Rachel Brown and all the staff at Sagecrest for taking such good care of mom both at home and at the Tally House. Edward J. Roper

Edward J. Roper, 86, of San Angelo, passed away at his home on Monday, May 15, 2017. He was born to the late, Bessie Mae and Lee Jackson Roper on September 6, 1930 in Oakgrove, Florida. Edward married JoNell Wood on December 24, 1954 in Greenville, Alabama. They were married 55 years and 5 days at the time of her death. He served in the United States Army for 3 years and then with the United States Air Force for another 22 years until retiring as a Master Sergeant. Edward served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era. He was a decoder for many of his service years, which led to his love of puzzles in general. Ed was a man of great integrity, often telling his children things like "never trust a liar and never become one yourself". It has been said that Ed always did the right thing, even when it wasn't the easy thing to do. He was a member of Green Meadow Church of Christ and maintained a strong faith throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed playing dominoes with his group of friends weekly. He was a jokester, always teasing those close to him and ready for a good, clean laugh. He was an inspiration to those around him and will be missed greatly. Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife, JoNell; and daughter-in-law, Patty Roper. 
Survivors include his children, Jerry Roper, Margie Jorden and her husband, Anthony, and Dallas Serumgard and her husband, Will; grandchildren, Eric, Lana, Jeff, Joe, Dara, Elinor, and Sophie; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. 
There will be no visitation; however the guestbook will be available for those wishing to stop by the funeral home to sign. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 19, 2017 in the Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Sally Stevens

Sally Naomi Stevens, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 15, 2017 in San Angelo. Sally was born May 25, 1931 in Hillsboro, Ohio to Delbert and Mary Kier. She married the love of her life, Marvin Douglas Stevens and they shared 54 beautiful years together. Marvin preceded her in death in 2002. Sally was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to the Lord and her family. She was an incredible woman of faith who loved the Lord and loved her church home, Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member. In her spare time, she loved sewing and crocheting, joking with friends and most of all cooking. Sally was known for her famous peach cobbler, which she loved to cook anytime there was a gathering. She was so full of life and so very loving and caring towards others. Sally’s life and legacy of love will remain in our hearts forever! She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, her son Michael Wayne Stevens and one brother, Roger Kier. Sally is survived by her children, Sandra Stevens, of San Angelo, Gary Stevens, of San Antonio, Robert Stevens, of San Angelo, Mary Montelongo and her husband Edward, of San Angelo and Charlie Stevens, of San Angelo; 6 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren, with 2 Great Grandchildren on the way; her Brother, Dave Kier, of Jacksonville, FL; her sister, Jean Kier, of Alabama; and numerous other family and close friends.

Robert Clifton "Clif" Cauthen

Clif Cauthen, 58, of Dallas, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. He was born to Jack and Janet Cauthen on May 18, 1958 in San Marcos, Texas. Clif was active at Park Heights Baptist Church as a youth, a 1977 graduate of Central High School, where he played Bobcat football and then later a 1981 graduate of Texas A&M University. Clif enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The mountains were his "happy place", especially when skiing, mountain biking or driving his Jeep. Clif worked for The Arrangement in Dallas where he was an Interior Design Consultant and Sales Associate for over 15 years. His love of life and outgoing spirit will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Clif is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Valeria Rylander, and Jack and Robbie Cauthen. 
Survivors include his parents, Jack and Janet Cauthen; sister, Valarie Look and her husband, Dave; brother, Scott L. Cauthen and his wife, Stephanie; nephews, Jon, Bobby and Matthew Look, and Ryland Cauthen; and a host of other relatives and friends. 
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at The Heights Church, San Angelo. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Meals for the Elderly, The Heights Church or the giver's charity of choice.

Emmitt W. Johnson

Emmitt W. Johnson, 76 of San Angelo, Texas rode off into the sunset on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. He'll gallop to that corral in the sky and will be riding horses and motorcycles along with son, Sean who preceded him in 2010. He'll also be joining his mother, father and brother to stir up the dust and raise a little 'or a lot" of ruckus up there! Emmitt was born to Emitt M. Johnson and Juanita Smoot on December 3,1940 in Snyder, Texas. He attended San Angelo public schools and then in 1957 he joined the Army where he had served for 3 years. Emmitt was one heck of a cook; give him a pot and he would cook up the best beans y'all ever tasted and nobody out did him when it came to cooking a mean brisket. He loved his guns and was an excellent marksman. We can't leave out his dogs, Dawn and Lucy who were always by his side whom he loved very much.. they'll miss him as well! Emmitt is survived by his sons, Ricky Johnson of Norman, Oklahoma, Kevin Johnson of Providence, Rhode Island, Kenneth Johnson of San Angelo and Becky Pardo, Kenneth's fiance, who played a huge part in taking care of Emmitt during his lengthy illness. Also surviving is his daughter, Tammy Dumolt of Brush Prairie, Washington, his ex wife and good friend Sue Johnson of San Angelo, sister-in-law Dorothy Johnson of Ladson, South Carolina, sister Vicki and brother-in-law Oscar Pettit of Leander, Texas and sister Marilyn Pettit of Leander, Texas. Emmitt is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2017. The funeral service is at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 both at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas.

Georgie Ann Meeks

Georgie Ann Halfmann Meeks passed away peacefully in her home on May 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. A rosary and viewing will be held a Johnson's Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 16th at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 17th at 10:00 A.M. with burial and lunch to follow in Olfen at the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. Georgia Ann was born September 19, 1938 at home to Charles and Ela Halfmann. She was the youngest of five children which included two brothers, Earl Halfmann and wife Mary Ann, David Halfmann and wife Shirley, and two sisters, Flora Wellberg and husband Frank, and Elvie Ahlert and husband Denny. Georgie Ann was raised by her loving family on their farm in Olfen where she also attended the Catholic School until the age of thirteen. Due to her father's illness, the family moved to San Angelo and she graduated from San Angelo High School in 1956. Georgie Ann married the love her life, Albert Meeks on September 13, 1958. Georgie and Albert traveled the world raising five children, four boys each one year apart in age and one girl. The moved from one Air Force base to another growing their family and making sweet memories along the way. Paul was born in Wichita Falls, TX; Mark was born in Albuquerque, NM; Chris and John Al where born in Oklahoma City, OK; and Elaine was born in Belgium, France. In 1970 the family settled in Paint Rock, Texas. Her final move was to San Angelo in 1980. Through her traveling adventures, Georgie Ann enriched her family with love and laughter. After raising her children, Georgie graduated from American Commercial College with a degree in Accounting and Automation and then worked for San Angelo National Bank for 18 years. Her retirement years were spent making quilts for her grandchildren, and serving the Lord by being a Eucharist Minister and volunteering at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Georgie always worshiped our Heavenly Father and passed her passion for Christ to everyone especially her children and grand-children. Georgie Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert, and sister Elvie. Survivors include her sons, Paul Jr. and wife Tracey, Mark and wife Sherry, Chris and wife Karen, John Al and wife Kim, and daughter, Elaine. Also Surviving are 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Chad, Colby, Ryan, and Trey Meeks, John Ahlert and Johnny Beach will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to express a special thanks to Comfort Keepers, Maria Guadarrama, Hospice of San Angelo, Debbie Bishop and Shirley Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or a favorite Charity. "Rest in peace, Mom. We love you!"

Barbara Faye Nutt Reed

Barbara Faye Reed, 75, of San Angelo, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 13, 2017. She was born to the late, Elbert Carlton "Corky" and Cora Maxine Odom Nutt on Thursday, May 22, 1941 in San Angelo. Barbara Faye attended school in Mertzon and Odessa. She was of Christian faith. Barbara Faye married Theodore Luther Reed in Orange, Texas on September 23, 1976. She owned and operated a nail salon but was most proud of being a homemaker, mother, wife and sister. She was always willing to help others. Barbara Faye enjoyed her naps, reading and crafts, especially painting, crocheting and leather work. Her loving nature and kind heartedness will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert Carlton "Corky" Nutt and Cora Maxine Odom Bilbo; and husband, Theodore Luther Reed. 

Survivors include her children, Patricia Ann Lowe of North Carolina, and Randy Brown of Maricopa, Arizona; several grandchildren; siblings, Nola Kaye Baumann and husband, Richard of Mertzon, Carolyn Gaye Hamilton of Mertzon, Karla Daye Curry and husband, Keith of Hamilton; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends, including her caregiver, Hilda Ruiz, of whom the family is eternally grateful for her love and care. 

There will be a private, family celebration of her life at a later date. Memorials may be made to the giver's favorite charity. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and sign the online guestbook at www.johnsons-funeralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo.

Joan McBee Bruton

Joan McBee-Bruton, 81, went to be with the lord on May 6, 2017. She passed peacefully at her daughter's home surrounded by family and a few close friends.
She and her twin sister were born at home to Roylene and Wayne McBee of Brady, Texas on June 11, 1935. She married William "Bill" Bruton, Jr. on January 6, 1967, in San Angelo, Texas. He had preceded her in death. Joan retired after 50 years of nursing as an LVN. She was a member of Word of Life Assembly of God Church in San Angelo.
Survivors include her sister Dorothy Jo Conley of Diana, Texas; her sons and their wives, Lewis Whitten and Larresia of Dripping Springs; Clay Whitten and Gina of Wylie; her daughter, Yvonne Tinney of San Angelo; 4 grandsons, five great grandsons; and three great granddaughters, nieces and nephews, plus a host of friends that she loved as family.
The person Joan missed the most was June who passed away shortly after their 54th birthday in Sherman, Texas.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at 1:00 PM at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the Doctors and medical staff for all of their special care. Funeral Arrangements are with Johnson's Funeral Home.

Louise Barnes Gorman

Graveside services for Louise Barnes Gorman, 86, of San Angelo are 10 am Tuesday at the Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Johnson's Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Hays, Nicholas Hays, Benjamin Hays, Brent Barron and Hondo Hays. 
Mrs. Gorman passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 in San Angelo. 
She was born August 4, 1930 in San Angelo to Clinton P. and Hertha Feil Barnes. She taught school for many years. Mrs. Gorman was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Louise was a member of the Southgate Church of Christ where she also taught Bible School. She loved to read and travel but mostly enjoyed her family.
Mrs. Gorman was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Barnes and a great grandson, Isaiah Garza.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Don Gorman; daughters, Amy & Glenn Hays and Tami and Brent Barron; brother, J.P. Barnes; grandchildren, Nathan and Yvette Hays, Nicholas and Beth Hays, Benjamin and Christine Hays, Katharine and Doobie Sims, Rebecca Barron and Carolyn Barron; great grandchildren, Amerah, Kaylie and Madelyn Hays.
Services have been entrusted to Johnson's Funeral Home.2
