#COVER1 Mix Preview: The Story Long Before Christoval's 11-Man Era

CHRISTOVAL, TX -- Well before the Christoval Cougars were making noise as 11-man team in West Texas they were known as one of the best six-man programs throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. An era that's still remembered throughout Texas today.

Buddy Luce the Cougars head coach from 1979 to 1988 was instrumental in elevating Christoval to statewide status leading the program to two state championship games. Luce, a 2015 inductee into the Texas Six-Man Coaches Hall of Fame finished his career with an impressive record of 88-19-1.

Luce talks about his time in Christoval, the players that were part of an unforgettable era, his late assistant and fellow six-man hall of fame coach Billy Barnett, and the excitement of seeing Christoval striding into a new era of Texas high school football.
