Concepcion Ramirez, 84, passed Monday, February 24, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM Thursday, February 27, 2020, and from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2020, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Father Josh Gray, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ramirez was born November 22, 1935, in Villa Union, Coahuila, Mexico. She has been a resident of San Angelo since 1975. Conchita married Juan Jose Ramirez, Sr. on October 30, 1959. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2013. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member Los Guadalupanos Society. Conchita was a homemaker.

Survivors include her three sons, Juan Jose Ramirez, Jr. and wife Shirley of San Angelo, Jesse Ramirez and wife Rebecca of Austin, and Jose "Pepe" Ramirez and wife Maria of San Angelo; three daughters, Cecila Ruiz and husband Oscar of San Angelo, Maria G. Ramirez and fiancé Brent Eller of San Angelo, and Ana Palacios and husband Manuel of San Angelo; five brothers, Ignacio Garcia, Jose Garcia, Nazario Garcia, Leonardo Garcia, and Jesus Garcia; and a sister, Dora Gaona; 17 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be: Francisco Porras, Juan Ramirez III, Manuel Palacios, Michael Ruiz, Daniel Wilkins, Francisco Palos, Kevin Z. Wilkins, and J.J. Wilkins.

Victor Estrada, Sr., 90, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 26, 2020, and from 8:30 AM until 8:00 PM Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, February 28, 2020, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Church under the Direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Estrada was born June 15, 1929, in Juno. Victor was a veteran of the US Army. Victor married Ramona Trevino on September 17, 1966, in Cuidad Acuna, Mexico. He was resident of San Angelo since 1967. Victor worked for Angelo Glass and Mirror for 30 years retiring 1993. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Southside Lions Club. Victor was a volunteer at the Light House for the Blind.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona Estrada of the home; four daughters, Elizabeth Strain of Georgia, Leticia Ybarra and husband Armando, Sr. of Big Lake, Narsie Rodriguez and husband Santos of San Angelo, and Sandra Echeverria and husband Saul of San Angelo; two sons, Victor Estrada, Jr. and wife Rita of San Angelo, and Joe Estrada of Gatesville; a sister, Elvira Castaneda of Del Rio; 2 brothers, Serapio Ramirez and wife Martha of El Paso, and Hunter Quartermane and wife Amanda of El Paso; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Escobedo of San Angelo; 19 grandchildren, Kuno, Dalia, Irma, Natalie, Maribel, Melissa, Michael, Andrea, Myra, Rosalynn, Victor, III, Adrienne, April, Sonya, Ynez, Lety, Armando, Jr., Laya, Madilia, Jolette, and Ditto; numerous great, and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews including, Argentina Perez, Dora Gutierrez, and Edna Sanchez. Victor was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Diana Avila; a son, Hector Estrada; a sister, Carolina Gutierrez; and a brother, Roman Ramirez.

Sherry Denise Martin, 44, of San Angelo, TX, passed away February 25, 2020. She was born in San Angelo, TX on January 23, 1976. Sherry had a passion for singing, dancing and arts and crafts. She is survived by her father Marion Edward Martin, mother Esther Dean Martin, brother Edward Dean Martin and nephews Chad and Chance Martin. A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Henry (Boogie) Soto went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. He was born in San Angelo, TX on May 16, 1955 to Henry and Emma Soto.
He is preceded in death by his mother Emma, sister Jeanette Holguin, father Henry G. Soto, brother Vidal Soto.
Henry is survived by daughter Tyesha Marie Duke and her three children; siblings Diana Ramirez of Ft. Worth, Bernice Cardenas, Debbie Soto of San Angelo, Opie (Yvonne) Soto of Little Elm, Frances Alcocer, Orlando Soto of San Angelo, John (Andrea) Soto of Dallas; 10 nephews and nieces and 9 great nephews and nieces; along with several Aunts and Uncles; and many cousins.
A rosary service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2020 at Harper Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 29, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. There are no words adequate enough to say THANK YOU to Dr. Rodrigues, Dr. Jastrow, Dr. Artnak, Dr. Zarate, Dr. Hubble, and the nurses at Shannon 5th floor and ICU for the care they provided for our bother.
Our loving brother was a hard worker and a fan of Western movies. We take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with our parents and siblings. He will be greatly missed.

Jason Keith Schwartz, 44, of Wall, TX passed peacefully in his home on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. He was born in San Angelo, TX on September 30, 1975 to William R. and Betty Schwartz.
Jason was a graduate of Wall High School. He enjoyed his years in FFA raising swine and participating each year in the livestock show. Jason was a devoted son who loved farming with his dad, helping his mom with the garden and selling vegetables at the Concho Valley Farmers’ Market. He was also often found in the barn working on a project. His projects included fire pits, deer blinds and garden carts. Jason was a master on the BBQ pit. One could usually find him at an auction or farm sale looking for a good deal (usually a trailer). He was also an avid gun collector. Jason loved spoiling his nieces and nephews with gifts, teaching them how to hunt, hauling them to the bowling alley, treating them to lunch and his favorite – cleaning up after them when they went home.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Stella Schwartz and Frank and Mary Havlak. He is survived by his parents; his sisters Tisha Schwartz (Alex Rylance), Jill (Allen) Brown, Bridget (John) Mullin; his brothers Neil Schwartz, Todd (Kim) Schwartz; nieces and nephews Austin and Laken Miller; Dylan (Brittnee) and Cody Schwartz; Brett and Drake Mullin; Davis, Parker and Sterling Schwartz; great nieces Layton Schwartz and Marley Miller. The Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 2 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with burial following at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery. Milton Ray Pierce died Monday, February 24, 2020 in San Angelo, Texas at his residence with his wife Sharalee by his side.

Milton was born in Brewton, Alabama on September 5, 1936. His parents who preceded him in death were Charlie Lowery and Esther May Evans. After Esther's divorce from Charlie, she married Thurman Clark Pierce who adopted Milton at age 12. Thurman gave Milton his name, and proudly used it throughout his life.

Milton attended Fort Concho Elementary, Edison Junior High, San Angelo High School (Central High), San Angelo Junior College (SAC), and the University of Texas at Austin.

He was athletically gifted playing football in high school and was an avid handball player, runner, and golfer in his adult years.

He proudly served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment during the Korean conflict.

Milton was married to Vera Jean Olsen and had two daughters, Catherine (Cathy) Highsmith (Bobby) and Suzen (Suze) Pierce Angle (Bryan).

He married Sharalee Rose Arvedson, and they celebrated 59 years of marriage in October 2019. Two children of this union, both deceased, were Milton Ray Pierce, Jr. who died at two months of age and Carla Pierce, who died at 31 years of age.

Milton founded Western Shamrock Corporation and Pierce-Western, Inc., businesses engaged in finance, oil and gas, automobile, and retail sales. These businesses with his management created multiple jobs for many individuals. He was very proud of this accomplishment. He was a philanthropist who treasured his city of San Angelo and did actions that promoted the community. His philosophy was to remain in the wings to encourage and mentor others.

Milton was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, brothers Larry Hayne and Thurman Clark Pierce, Jr., children Milton Ray Pierce, Jr. and Carla Pierce, two aunts and an uncle.

He is survived by his wife, sister Martha Bruton, brother R. Garland Haynes, nephews Tyler (Christa) and Bryce (Emily) Haynes and great nieces Averie, Hadley, and Blakely Haynes; nephew Jonathan (Jon) Arvedson; niece Amy Faith Arvedson Anderson (Jeff) and great nephew Wyatt Levi Anderson, and brother-in-law Richard Stephen (Steve) Arvedson (Marsha Ann), along with several cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of memorial made to the Carla Pierce Memorial Scholarship administered by the San Angelo Area Foundation, West Texas Rehabilitation Center, Hospice of San Angelo, and Emmanuel Episcopal Church (San Angelo).

Visitation will be Monday, March 2, 2020 at Harper Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 3 South Randolph, San Angelo. Celebrants are The Reverend Matthew Rowe, Rector of Emmanuel and The Reverend James T. Horton. Pallbearers are Sam Davenport, Homer Gray, Roy Green, Al Shea, Albert Valadez, and Ronnie Walcott. Honorary pall bearers are Scott Wisniewski and Polo Boisse.

Special recognition and gratitude are given to the wonderful nurses of Hospice of San Angelo: Elena M., Miranda, and Elena along with the remarkable supportive staff of Hospice.

Thelma McMurtrey, 99, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord Friday, Feb. 21, 2020. Thelma was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Cimarron, New Mexico, and grew up in Wichita Falls, where she first worked as a child, collecting rent at her mother’s boarding house. After graduating from high school, she moved to San Angelo where she married A.L. “Mack” McMurtrey in 1943, and they shared many years of happiness, raising three children. Thelma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was always devoted to her family. She had tremendous love and faith in the Lord and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in San Angelo, where she taught religious-education classes for many years. Thelma was a pioneering businesswoman in San Angelo and had a distinguished career. She became a licensed real-estate broker and she and Mack opened The McMurtrey Agency, which enjoyed many decades of success. Thelma served as president and vice president of the San Angelo Real Estate Assn., served on the City’s Board of Realtors, in addition to the Board of Housing and Urban Development and Habitat for Humanity. She also was a longtime member of the San Angelo Republican Women’s group and the local Order of the Eastern Star. Over the course of her career, she received numerous awards and citations, and in 2009, was honored by the Texas Association of Realtors for 45 years of service. Thelma’s love and strength will live on in our hearts forever and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mack, and her brother and sister-in-law James and Frances Rutledge and one grandson, Sankey McMurtrey. She is survived by her children: Joel McMurtrey of Austin; and Mickey McMurtrey and Cherry Lynn Rizzo, both of San Angelo; Belle and Joe Paul Bramhall of Bryan; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Belvedere Memorial Park on Arden Road with the Rev. Joel Moore officiating.
