Gilbert Arteaga, age 30, of Ballinger entered his heavenly home on Monday evening, May 14, 2018 from injuries received in an accident near Tye.

He was born October 16, 1987 in San Angelo the son of Gilbert Arteaga, Sr. and Roselyn Flores Arteaga. He graduated from Lakeview High School in San Angelo and was working as a chemist for Buddy’s Plant Place in Ballinger at the time of his death.

He was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and listening to music. He was a people person who enjoyed being with friends and family. He will truly be missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Roselyn Arteaga of San Angelo, two sisters, Alison Arteaga and Ashley Arteaga both of San Angelo, his grandfather, Gilbert Perez and grandmother, Ignacia Arteaga both of San Angelo as well as several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Arteaga, Sr.

Visitation will be held from 5-9 pm on Sunday at Johnson’s Funeral Home with funeral services to be held at 2 pm on Monday in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Family has requested that condolences, contributions to help with expenses, or flowers in Gilbert’s memory be left at Johnson’s Funeral Home.

Adrian Montez Villanueva, 44, passed at 3:51 a.m., Sunday, May 13, 2018 in San Diego, California.

Adrian was born Dec. 18, 1973, in San Angelo, TX and was a lifelong area resident.

He is survived by his daughter Maggie Jewel Villanueva, of San Angelo, his mother and father, Frank and Margarita Villanueva, of San Angelo; two sisters, Sandra Lorraine Villanueva of Fountain Valley, CA and Kristina Renee Bowman and her husband, Cory, of San Angelo as well as many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother Oralia P. Montez and his grandparents Antonia and Francisco Villanueva, Sr.

Adrian was devoted to his daughter, sisters, mother and father and entire family. His faith was strong in the Lord. It is true: "A brother is a friend God gave you; a friend is a brother your heart chose for you." ̴ Proverb. To our brother... Happy memories of childhood, of our teens, with you by our side, our ultimate champion, so much happiness we owe to you, dear bro. Our friend, our support, our super hero, our heart, and now our angel. You will never be forgotten, you will live in our hearts forever.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 2 pm in Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home, San Angelo, TX.

Joyce Barnes age 83 passed from her earthly life on May 15, 2018 into her heavenly home.

Joyce was born on the family farm on May 11, 1935 to Robert and Christeen (Oakleaf) Morrison in Vancourt, Texas. She met and married Larry Barnes November 6, 1964 and they lived their married life in San Angelo.

Joyce worked beside her husband as his secretary, his right hand until she retired to help with her great grand kids, Devo and Arysta. She was a loving Momma to her two sons, and MeMe to her grandchildren and great grandkids. She was a 50 plus member of Johnson Street Church of Christ.

She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Waiting for her in Heaven was her husband Larry of 52 years, son Gerald Coleman and grandson Shane Coleman. Her parents Robert and Christeen Morrison. Brothers R.D. Morrison, Aubrey Morrison and Curtis Morrison, sister Robbie Shelton.

Joyce is survived by her son, Gary Coleman, Grandson Todd Coleman and wife Trixy and granddaughter Christy Nelson; Great grandchildren Justin Coleman of Abilene, Drew Barber of California, Devo Coleman of San Angelo and Noah Nelson. Great granddaughter, Arysta Coleman. Daughter-in-law Paulette Coleman. Sisters, Wilma Cunningham, Mary Nessmith and Peggy Morrison all of San Angelo and sister-in-law Dorothy Morrison. Joyce was blessed with a large family of nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Joyce will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, May 17, 2018 Harpers Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 19, 2018.

Don Richard Logan, 86, of San Angelo, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.

He was born to Homer A. and Honora J. Davis Logan on January 23, 1932 in Walton, Indiana. He served in the united States Navy for four years and then retired in 1974, after over 20 years service with the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He served during both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era and was stationed in the Philippines, San Antonio, Anchorage, Alaska, and Germany.

Don was a kind man with a great sense of humor, who enjoyed socializing with friends and family. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 0418 for 63 continuous years as well as a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church in Walton, Indiana.

Don married the love of his life, Janet Sue Copas on March 2, 1958 in Lafayette, Indiana.

Don is preceded in death by his parents (listed above); brothers, Dean Logan and Tom Logan; and sisters, Carole Zehring, Nancy Robinson, and Patty Walker. Survivors include his wife, Janet Sue Logan; sisters, Dina Gifford and Tonia Fisher; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

There will be a time of visitation from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo. Services and interment will follow in Galveston, Indiana at a later date.

Raymond Thomas Foster, Jr., 45, passed from this earthly world on May 12, 2018. He was a resident of Fort Worth, Texas.

Raymond was born on June 16, 1972 in San Angelo, Texas to Tommy and Barbara Foster. He attended Sterling City I.S.D. and completed high school at James Bowie High School in Austin, Texas. He attended Howard College and the Art Institute of Dallas studying culinary arts.

Raymond was an amazing chef. Whether he was cooking for a few or for many, he enjoyed sharing his talent with others. Not only was Raymond a great chef, he was quite the comedian. He could always make one laugh! Raymond could tell a story or a joke and have you on the floor laughing. He could make any situation better simply by adding humor to it. We will miss his wittiness, his spunk, and his stubbornness.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Foster Carter; sister and husband, Jeanie Foster McGinn and Ronny McGinn; step-brother and wife, Kris and Lily Carter; nephew, Matthew Hasty; niece, Jenny Hasty; aunt and husband, Marilyn and David Drake; uncles, Charles Abel, Barry and (wife) Becky Abel; cousins, Chris Gookin, Barry Abel Jr., Jessica Spann, Laurie Startz, Heather Stilwell, Heather Hirt, R.T. Mackie, and Leigh Jeter and numerous friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Tommy Foster; step-father, Jim Carter; grand-parents, Thomas and Georgina Foster and Al and Myrtle Abel; nephew, Thomas Blaine Hasty; and special friend, Rodney Weldon.

Ronald Gayle Shawn, age 65 of Lubbock, Texas passed away suddenly in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Tuesday, May 7, 2018 and now rests in the arms of his Lord.

He was born on September 26, 1952 in San Angelo the son of the late Milford Newton and Cleo Bell Clark Shawn. He attended San Angelo Central High School and later became a bus driver for the Houston City-Tran. He also drove for the Kerrville Bus Lines in Houston and San Antonio in the 70 and 80’s. He began driving for Core Tucking of Kansas City where he was working at the time of his death.

He will be remembered as a very nice person with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed music and liked to play drums and guitar especially 50, 60, and 70 rock songs. He will be greatly missed by his family which includes his brother and best friend, Jerry Newton Shawn of Lubbock, a nephew, Jerry Michael Shawn of Houston, nephew, Joshua Shawn and nieces, Miranda and Clarissa Shawn all of Houston, a good friend Roger of Austin and a companion, Lakey of Galveston.

A visitation will be held from 9am – 12 noon on Thursday at Johnson’s Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Fairmount Cemetery at 2 pm.

His funny jokes and great personality and so much more will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Olivia Resendiz, 79, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Olivia was born July 11, 1938 in Johnson City, Texas to Antonio and Petra Romero Gonzales.

She married the love of her life, Elpidio Nieto Resendiz on February 6, 1968 in Tulia, Texas and they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage together. Olivia was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother who devoted her life to her family.

She worked as a custodian at Tulia Independent School District for 22 years before retiring. In her spare time, she enjoyed being at home and with her family and drawing and taking pictures of anything and everything. Olivia also loved playing bingo and the lottery, cooking, chewing bubble gum and talking on the phone for hours with her sister Elizabeth. She also loved joking around with everyone and being very vociferous. However, her main passion was just being at home with her family. Olivia’s life and love will remain in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Elizabeth Alvarado. Olivia is survived by her husband, Elpidio N. Resendeiz, of San Angelo; her Daughter, Elvira Jhaliesann Pedro-Bartolo, of San Angelo; her brothers, Adam Gonzalez, of Tulia, TX., and Edward Gonzales, of San Angelo; her sister, Tomasa Huerta, of Brady, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Olivia requested that no services be held in her honor; just remember her fondly in your memories.

On May 11, 2018 Linda Sue Adams Carnes departed this Earth to join her beloved husband Clifton Lee Carnes, in God's kingdom. Linda was born on April 21, 1944 in Mitchell County, Texas. She was the 7th of 11 children born to James "Daddy Bill" Adams and Lenora Feaster Adams. Linda had a servant's heart and her generosity was felt by many. She had a gift for making those around her feel special. Linda married the love of her life, Mr. Clifton Lee Carnes on June 29, 1964 in Sweetwater, Texas. They would go on to raise both a daughter and a son, and enjoy a 42 year marriage. While Linda raised her children she was actively involved in the PTA, eventually becoming a lifetime member. Linda found true joy in baking and decorating cakes for friends and family, ever missing an opportunity to host a party or help with a wedding. Linda was a founding member of Grace Temple Baptist Church and served as their executive secretary. She later went on to become a secretary for McCammon Oil and for the late Judge Tom Massey. Linda was so proud of her son Steven as he chose his career in law enforcement and she quickly became an avid supporter, always looking for ways to make the law enforcement community feel loved, respected and supported. In her later years Linda lived with her daughter Leanne, they were always there for each other and they shared a very special bond. Linda was preceded in death by her husband Clifton Lee Carnes, her parents James and Lenora Adams, as well as her brothers Veril, Leon, James, Michael and Clay Adams and one sister Juanice Adams Vann. Linda is survived by her daughter Leanne Carnes huff, her son Steven Carnes and wife Jodi, and her beloved grandson Bradley Carnes all of San Angelo. She is also survived by her sister Elsie Gillilan of Sherman, Texas, a brother W.L. "Dub" Adams of Uvalde, Texas, a brother Randy Adams of Tom Bean, Texas, and a brother Tony Adams of Colorado City, Texas. Linda also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins that she adored. Dr. Jerold Robert McBride, age 85 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018.

Jerold was born September 20,1932 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. He attended public schools in Winnfield, Louisiana where his father was pastor of the First Baptist Church.

Jerold was called to preach at the age of fifteen. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Theology degrees.

On June 25, 1954 Jerold married Elizabeth Jane Basore who was a partner with him in ministry for forty-seven years. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2003. They are the parents of three children: Renee' McBride, Charlotte Young, and Todd McBride, as well as two grandchildren, Jessica Young and Jaclyn (Samuel) Parrish, all of whom grew up as members of the of First Baptist, San Angelo family.
Jerold served churches in Oklahoma and Texas. For thirty-one years he was pastor of the First Baptist Church of San Angelo. He received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Hardin-Simmons University and the George W. Truett Distinguished Church Service Award from Baylor University.

Jerold taught preaching in Russia, Ukraine, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Howard-Payne University, and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in San Francisco, California.
On January 1,2005 Jerold and Claudia Machen were joined in marriage in Winnfield, Louisiana where they both grew up. He is also survived by Claudia's children Mike, Mark, and Matt Machen as well as five grandchildren.

His first love in ministry was preaching, missions, and leading people to Christ. He believed the Bible to be the Word of God and rejoiced in God's calling him to proclaim its truths.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 14, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Winnfield with Reverends Steven Smithson, Danny Keyes and John Holland officiating with services under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, LA.

Family Visitation will be 7:00- 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16th at the First Baptist Chapel Building, 37 E. Harris Ave. Memorial service for Dr. Jerold McBride will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17th in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, San Angelo. A private burial service will be held prior to the memorial service.
