Bingham Richard

10/03/2019 - 16:07 , by zoey@hydeinter…

Richard “Corky” Paul Bingham, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on October 1, 2019 after a life well lived.

Richard was born in Lubbock, TX but was raised in Redfield, South Dakota (making him a native Texan even if it took him 24 years to get back). Known more commonly as Corky (because he was such a little “corker” as a baby), he grew up in the farmlands of the midwest and attended South Dakota School of Mines. In March of 1964, he joined the Air Force and in July 1964 he married his wife of 55 years, Karen Marie Goeres. That was a good year — he made two of the best decisions of his life.

Corky went on to have a long and storied career, first in the Air Force and later as a civilian working for the Department of Defense at Goodfellow AFB. Corky began his career as a morse code operator stationed in Misawa, Japan, where he and Karen welcomed their son, Scott. Next, he trained to be a Russian linguist at Syracuse University which resulted in his assignment to a remote post in Shemya, Alaska for a year. While stationed at Chicksands in England, Corky and Karen added daughter, Stacey, to the family. After a short time at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas, Corky found himself stationed for two years in Heraklion, Greece before returning to Goodfellow AFB for good.

After retiring from the Air Force as a highly-decorated Senior Master Sergeant, Corky embarked on his second career as a civilian employee. He spent another 21 years working for the Department of Defense at Goodfellow AFB with many of his long-time friends and colleagues.

Following his retirement, Corky remained active in the military community with the Freedom Through Vigilance Association. He also played a lot of golf, entertained his grandchildren, and hunted rocks every year in the Arizona desert.

Corky is survived by his loving wife, Karen Marie Bingham (nee Goeres); son Scott Bingham; daughter Stacey Bingham Doyle and husband Joe Doyle; sister-in-law Pam Bingham and family; as well as four grandchildren, Stormie Bingham (19), Ashlie Bingham (16), Katie Doyle (12), and Patrick Doyle (12). He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Maxine Bingham, and his brother Frank Bingham II.

A Memorial service will be held at Harper Funeral Home on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM.

One of Corky’s proudest achievements was the 41 years he spent serving his country. He loved his time in the Air Force and the friends that he was stationed with often felt more like family. To honor that, in lieu of flowers, the Bingham family asks that you make a contribution to Meals for the Elderly or to a charity that is near and dear to your heart.

Nason Ronald Richey

10/03/2019 - 16:06 , by zoey@hydeinter…

Surrounded by family and friends, Ronald Richey Nason, 82, of San Angelo, went to be with his Lord and Savior after a courageous and hard-fought eight-month battle with heart failure and esophageal cancer.

He was born in San Angelo on July 21, 1937 to Corine Marie Masters and James Henry Nason. As a young boy, Ron loved the outdoors, fishing, hiking, and hunting on his grandmother’s farm outside of town. During high school, he helped his single mother raise his two sisters, and, in 1954, joined the United States Air Force, serving as a fighter jet mechanic until 1960. After returning home, Ron met Hilda Yvonne Beaver, and in 1962, they were married at Temple Baptist Church. In 1964, the young couple moved to the DFW area, where Ron worked as a supervisor at Rockwell International. Five years later, Ron and Yvonne welcomed their only child Christopher Marc, into the world. In 1971, the Nason family relocated to Lewisville, Texas, where they would spend the next 33 years. In that same year, Ron began to work as a freight supervisor for Texas Oklahoma Express, later accepting a management position at Yellow Freight Lines in Dallas. After Retiring in 2004, Ron and Yvonne moved back to San Angelo, where they both became active in ministry through Glen Meadows Baptist Church. Over the years, Ron served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, a church deacon, and an active participant in the “Through God Comes Justice” jail ministry. While he was known to be a no-nonsense straight shooter, Ron also had a sense of humor that was frequently on display, and he loved giving those who knew him best a hard time. After returning to San Angelo, Ron’s relationship with God continued to grow, manifested in his deep and genuine concern for his family, friends, and church. Even in his last days, his concern was not for himself but his wife, his son, and the members of his Sunday School class, who over the years, became his extended family. A voracious reader, a lover of sports and a true believer, Ron was a man of integrity, perseverance, and commitment, and he lived his life accordingly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Corine, his sister Rosie, and A.F. Nored, his stepfather.

He is survived by Yvonne, his wife of 57 years, Chris, his son, Barbara, his sister, Judy Rippetoe, cousin, of San Angelo, Freddie Rippetoe, cousin, of Houston, Kelly Vittum, cousin, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Grant Rippetoe, cousin, of London, England. He is also survived by other family members and a host of very dear friends.

The Nason family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Shannon Hospital, particularly Candy Molina, Brittany Manuel, and Keegan Gollihar, who went above and beyond in providing Ron and his family with both physical and emotional care when it was needed the most.

A memorial service will be held at Harper Funeral Home Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Glen Meadow Baptist Church, 6002 Knickerbocker Rd., San Angelo, TX 76904 or the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org

Flanary Nora Mae

10/03/2019 - 15:42 , by zoey@hydeinter…

On October 1, 2019, Nora Mae Ainsworth Flanary went home to be with her Lord and Savior and to receive her heavenly reward as promised by Him. She left behind her pain, suffering and loneliness.

Nora Mae was born in San Angelo, Texas, on October 7, 1928, to Robert Lee Ainsworth and Beulah Mae O’Kelly Ainsworth. Beulah Ainsworth passed away from TB when Nora Mae was only two years old so she, her sister Ruby Marie, and father moved in with Grandmother Mary Jane Ainsworth. Several years later, her father remarried and had another girl, Pearlie Lee Ainsworth.

Nora Mae met Lonnie Loyd Flanary when she was 14 and he was 16, at the roller rink where he worked. It may have been love at first sight. They married when they were only 16 and 18. Nora Mae’s dad passed away one week after the wedding from a lengthy illness.

Nora Mae and Lonnie were blessed with two children: Barbara and Robert. Nora Mae was a wife and homemaker; Lonnie was a welder. They decided that in order to make a better life for their young family, Lonnie would join the Boilermakers Union and follow the construction trade. They had to move where the jobs were, so from 1957 to 1985, they lived in numerous towns in Texas, Louisiana, and Arizona.

Nora Mae enjoyed all of her new friends who were wives of the men Lonnie worked with. She was an avid letter writer and stayed in touch with many of them over the years. Nora Mae enjoyed sewing and embroidering and she made most of Barbara’s clothes. Most of all, Nora Mae loved Jesus and always found a church to attend in each town but her church home was Harris Avenue Baptist Church in San Angelo, TX.

Nora Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lonnie of 71 years, her sister Pearlie Lee Ainsworth Ditmore, and a special niece, Nancy Gallemore Young. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Flanary Murray Wilson (Don), Robert L. Flanary (Jo Ann), sister Ruby Marie Ainsworth Gallemore; grandchildren Margie Murray-Seebock (Eric), Robert Murray (Jennifer), MIchael Murray (Brenda), Sean Flanary (Beverly), Amy Flanary Norris; great grandchildren Preston, Michael, Jasmine, Michaela, Morgan and Madison. Nieces Beverly Gallemore Heisler and Estelee Ditmore Benoit; nephews Jimmy Gallemore, Robert Ditmore, Tommy Ditmore, and Mike Ditmore. Nora Mae is also survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Flanary Mills, and brother-in-laws Kenneth Flanary, Jody Flanary, and Randy Flanary.

The family would like to thank Dr. Carl Anderton and staff, Shannon Memorial Hospital, New Haven Assisted Living, and Kindred Hospice for their kindness and support during this difficult time. They also ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals for the Elderly, Harris Avenue Baptist Church, or your favorite charity.

A funeral service will be held at Harper Funeral Home, at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2019 with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
