Montez Jesusa Duran

01/27/2020 - 14:00 , by zoey@hydeinter…

Jesusa “Susie” Duran Montez, 93, of San Angelo, passed on to her eternal home on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at her home.

Wake service will be at 6pm Sunday, January 26 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10am Monday, January 27 at the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart with Fr. Josh Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.

Susie was born June 10, 1926 in Colorado City, TX to Jose and Paula Duran. She married Frederico Montez in August 1953 and lived their married life in San Angelo, TX. Mrs. Montez was a lifetime Catholic Christian, a member of the Guadalupana Sociedad of Sacred Heart Cathedral and a Cursillista.

Susie retired from San Angelo ISD, finding retirement absolutely boring after just 6 months. She found her place in the lives and hearts of the Rio Vista Head Start Program by volunteering through the Foster Grandparent Program. For 20 years, she enjoyed being around all the little children that called her Grandma Susie, sometimes being recognized by their parents (former students) who knew her as the Cafeteria Lady who always gave a little extra food on their tray. Missing “her kids” during her last days was especially difficult for her. She loved them all like her own grandchildren especially one special little man named Ismael who grew very attached to Grandma Susie because Mom just loved those eyes of his ~ full of love for her!

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings and her oldest grandson, Christopher.

Left to remember her love and memories are her children: Leroy D. Montez (Mary Ann); Lorena D. Montez; Wilfred “Willie” D. Montez (Tina); and Brenda M. Collier. Her bundles of joy, grandchildren: Jessi Rae, Caleb (Casey), Michaela Montez and Matthew Collier. Her pride came with Christopher’s son, her great grandson, Hunter Montez. Her husband’s children: Fred H. Montez (Alma) and Leroy H. Montez (Gloria) and their children, Leslie, Amanda, J. Antonio and their children Grant, Desirae, Damian and Ethan. Her sisters: Dominga, Emma, Ofelia, and Consuelo (Ismael). Her adopted daughter, Linda V. Young (Robert). Special hugs to 5North Nurses at Shannon and Kindred Hospice.

Mom will be busy dancing with Dad so please consider sending donations to Sacred Heart Building Fund; Kindred Hospice or Operation Smile. Phil 1:20

Killgore Hedy

01/27/2020 - 13:54 , by zoey@hydeinter…

Hedy was born to John and Marie Nowak on December 8, 1953. She grew up along-side her sisters, Lydia and Anna, and brother, Johnny, in San Angelo. After school she took a job at St. John’s Hospital. There she met Robert Killgore. They were wed in August of 1974. Hedy passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones, on January 26, 2020.
Robert and Hedy moved to Socorro, New Mexico, to attend the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. After college, Robert’s job led them to Del City, and then home to San Angelo where Hedy took a job at Webb, Stokes, and Sparks law firm. She retired from the law firm in 2013, after 33 years.
Hedy was mother to Bridgette, Johnathan, and Christopher. It was truly a miracle she let any of them live past their teen years. If you ask any of them, she was the best mother anyone could ever hope for.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, 5 months, and 2 days, Robert, daughter, Bridgette, sons, Johnathan and Christopher, and siblings, Lydia Manning of Brownwood, Johnny (Donna) Nowak of Bertram, and Anna Satterwhite of San Angelo. Also left to cherish her memory are a whole host of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Harper Funeral Home on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Hedy’s memory to Hospice of San Angelo.
If we could save time in a bottle, we’d spend it with her.

Masterson Margaret Louise

01/24/2020 - 10:21 , by zoey@hydeinter…

Margaret or Peg as she was known, was born January 15, 1950 in Iraan, Texas to Marshall (Tex) and Anne Masterson. She left this earthly world on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 while residing at Sterling County Nursing Home. Peg graduated from Midland Lee in (1968) and from Rice University in (1972). She worked in various clerk and bookkeeping capacities over her life: for the U.S. Army in Germany, for Borg Warner in Austin, for a large law firm in Midland, as well as Phillips Gas in Odessa for many years. It was during the period of her employment with Borg Warner in Austin that she decided to pursue a lifelong dream of working in film and she entered the University of Texas Radio-Film-College. Sadly this was during the time she was beginning to deteriorate and she was forced to withdraw. She was always an avid reader, especially of Shakespeare and Mark Twain. She had an enduring love of the arts, took voice and piano in high school. As she got older, Peg would often bemoan the loss of her wonderful voice. She was especially fond of her cats, especially Yoda and Lilly who she had for many years. Those who knew Peg well were aware that she had a long fight with mental illness. Her many years of employment attest to how well she managed her illness. During an especially bright time in her life, Peg was able to purchase and maintain her own home in Midland. She also lived with her mother, Anne Masterson for many years, after a decline in her health. She lived for many years at Langtry Village in Midland, which allowed her to continue to live independently, with support from staff and friends. She was able to make and keep appointments with health care professionals, and to consistently and maintain her apartment. She was preceded in death by her parents Tex and Anne Masterson, and is survived by her older brother Robert (Donna) Masterson of San Angelo and her younger brother Eric Masterson of Tomball. Also, by niece Michelle (Donald) Salinas and children Madison and Nicholas of Seabrook, and Cousins David Holmes and Laura Holmes, and several cousins and nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 in the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Family and friends may sign an online guestbook at www.johnsons-funeralhome.com
