Tankersley Jackson

Jackson Tankersley, 85, of Mertzon went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2020 in San Angelo. Jackson was born September 4, 1934 in Texon, Texas to Claude and Mae Dell Tankersley. He grew up in Mertzon and graduated from Mertzon High School. He attended colleges in Bryan and Sul Ross and would eventually graduate from San Angelo College. He served his country honorably in the United States Army following WWII, in Okinawa. He met and later married the love of his life Vennie Lou Bryant. They were married for 51 years. He was a loving husband father and grandfather who devoted his life to his family. He was a rancher and great steward of the land. He loved all things great and small in nature. Jackson adored his wife and family and especially enjoyed dancing with his lovely wife Vennie. He also loved fishing as well. His tremendous love for family and animals and nature will live on in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Vennie. He is survived by his daughter, Becky Lange and her husband Kyle, his son, Doug Tankersley and special friend Jaqueline Pickard; his grandchildren Cagnie DuPree and Chance Tankersley; his brother, Fayette Tankersley and his wife Marie and Loye Tankersley and his wife Lynn; his Sister, Annette Williams and her husband Roy. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, January 24, 2020 at Harper Funeral Home. The graveside service will be 10 A.M., Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Mertzon Cemetery in Mertzon, TX. Pallbearers for the service will be Mike Bryan, Bill Armstrong, Jr., Dr. Steven Coates, Leamon Tankersley, Rod Williams, and Eddie Westbrook. Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Barbara “Bob” Watson and Steve Wayne Coates.

Reyes Armando

Armando Reyes, age 61 of San Angelo died January 19, 2020 at home.

Vigil service will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Holy Family Catholic Church of Mereta. Burial will follow in the Mereta-Eola Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Armando was born July 1, 1958, in Acuna, Mexico to Antonio & Rosalva Reyes. He married Nancy Ann Delagarza November 20, 1983. Armando worked at Guardian Building Products as Warehouse Manager for twenty-five years. He was always working with wood and enjoyed making doors and windows.

He was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mereta. Armando was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Armando was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother, and his wife, Nancy in 2018.

He is survived by his sons, Mark A. Reyes and Mario L. Reyes and his wife, Jovanna Torres; his siblings, Gloria Bermudez and her husband Gabriel of Modesto, CA, Juan A. Reyes and his wife Alicia of San Angelo, TX, Maria Elena Talamantes of San Angelo, TX, Rosalva R. Maldonando of Del Rio, TX, Luis F. Reyes and his wife Wanda Gayle of Grape Creek, Maria Torrez and her husband Oscar of San Angelo, TX, Jose J. Reyes and wife Christina of Fort Worth, TX and Gillermo (Memo) Reyes and his wife Vicky of San Angelo, TX; his grandchildren, Nicholas X. Reyes and Nathaniel Reyes and Ava R. Reyes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pullen Tyrone Ty

In loving memory of Tyrone "Ty" Pullen

Tyrone Pullen was born November 2, 1970, in Alexander City, Alabama to Jimmy and Lillian Pullen. Tyrone went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2020. Tyrone was raised in San Angelo, Texas where he attended Central High School. He was one of the original San Angelo Poppetters. He loved fixing and riding his low rider bikes throughout the neighborhood. Tyrone loved many and many loved Tyrone. He was a loving son, father, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He was a gentle giant.

He was proceeded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his mother Lillian Pullen.

Tyrone leaves to cherish his memories, his father, Jimmy Pullen; his daughter and grandson Sharleta "Star" Pullen and Camryn Pullen; his brother, Timmie Toler, his sisters, Sharon Miller and Shannon Toler Patterson; three nephews, Terrance Samuels, Christopher "Boot" Miller and Marcus Miller; his niece Jacori Stokel; and a host of aunts, uncle, great nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Tyrone will be truly missed by everyone.

Memorial services are pending at this time.

Young Tommy Clarence

Tommy C. Young, 79, of San Angelo, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, in a local hospital. Tommy was born in Boyd’s Chapel, Texas, on Nov. 4, 1940, to John and Zana Young. Tommy graduated from Trent High School. He married Judy Janet Harlow Nov. 27, 1959, in Abilene, Texas. Tommy enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as a Specialist 4. Following his military service, Tommy worked for NCR as a computer service technician for 33 years. A loving husband, devoted father, dedicated brother, doting Pampa and beloved friend, Tommy held family and friendship above all of his other interests. He loved wildlife and nature, photography, hunting and fishing, western folklore and culture, and a good story. Tommy will be truly missed.

Tommy was preceded in death by his wife Judy, his parents John and Zana, brother John and sister-in-law Loretta, brother David, and sister Zana Beth Scott.

Tommy is survived by his son Corby and daughter-in-law Dawn; granddaughters Kendall and Mackenzie of The Colony, Texas; and step-grandson Alex DeBacker and step-great-grandchildren Tommy and Sydney DeBacker of Huntsville, AL. He has a brother, Bill and his wife, Mary, of Livingston, Texas; a brother-in-law, Joe Scott of San Angelo; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with inurnment to follow at 1 p.m. in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

The Young family would like to thank all the staff at Shannon, especially the ICU staff and Dr. Cheruku.

Aguilar Juan Antonio

Juan Antonio Aguilar, age 76, went to be with the Lord January 18, 2020 surrounded by his family

A prayer Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 22 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with burial at Miles Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Juan was born January 14, 1944 to Juan and Esperanza Aguilar in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. He met the love of his life, Catarina “Chana” Alvarez and later married on January 4th, 1965.

He worked as a ranch foreman for many years where he became part of the family to John and June Scott and Maggie Brown.
Juan was a hardworking, loving man who was always so supportive of his family. He taught his family many life skills that will be forever cherished. Juan was also an active member of his church, serving his almighty God.

He was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Esperanza Aguilar, son Jose Aguilar and brother Armando Aguilar.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Catarina Aguilar.

His children, Maria (Erasto) Arteaga, Marta (Armando) Contreras, Jesse (Geneva) Aguilar, Patricia (Frank) Chappa and Carmen Aguilar. He also has two special grandkids whom he raised as his own, Tresint and Gissele Everhardt. He leaves behind numerous grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins and his extended family, the Scott’s. Siblings; Luis Aguilar, Romelia Martinez, Natalia Garcia, Esperanza Aguilar and Artemio Aguilar.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Aguilar, Erasto Arteaga, Frank Chappa, Armando Contreras, Domingo Aguilar, Art Arteaga and Preston Arteaga.

The family would like to thank the Shannon Medical Center ICU staff for their care and the Scott family for their gracious generosity.

Donald Ray "Donny" Johnson, 66, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020, in Menard.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 21, 2020, and also from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Burial will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Cox Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Mr. Johnson was born August 6, 1953, in San Angelo. Donny was originally from Menard living most of his life in San Angelo area. He married Sandra "Sandy" May Milan on December 1988, she preceded him in death on July 22, 1997. Donny was a pipeline inspector for Republic Services since January 2019. For most of his career he was a maintenance supervisor for Apartments.

Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Bishop and husband Brandon of Colorado City; three brothers, Tony Johnson and wife Cathy of San Angelo, David Johnson and Terry Johnson and wife Sheryll of all of Menard; a sister, Margaret Beyer of Menard; two grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Marie Johnson; a sister, Joyce Freeman.

Willis Edgar Lee

Retired Police Officer Edgar Lee Willis passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Joann Willis. He is a Veteran of the United States Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 17, 1962, Academy Class #26. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Patrol Bureau, Narcotics Division, and Southwest Division. Officer Willis retired on January 31, 1977.

Elma DeLaCruz, 77, went to be with the Lord January 16, 2020, in Austin.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, January 24, 2020, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. DeLaCruz was born April 3, 1942, San Angelo where she was a lifelong resident until moving to Austin to live with her son, Anthony. Elma married Mardoquo “Mack” DeLaCruz on November 6, 1965 in San Angelo. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2007. Elma worked for Angelo Community Hospital, formerly Clinic Hospital, as a lab technician for 55 years; retiring in 2016. Elma was well loved by her family and friends. She loved to bake for weddings and parties and continued to do so after retirement. She was a member of the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart.

Elma is survived by her son, Anthony DeLaCruz and wife Angela of Austin; grandsons, Nick and Jared DeLaCruz; stepchildren, Richard DeLaCruz, Sally Sotelo, Larry DeLaCruz, Sandra Wurtenberg, and Mack Jr. DeLaCruz; siblings, Ernest Perez, Harry Perez, Manuel Ortegon and Josie Ortegon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Primo Gonzales, Mack Jr. DeLaCruz, Robert Perez, Roy Cox, Rick DeLaCruz and Albert Perez.

Honorary Pallbearers include, Ernest Perez, Harry Perez, Manuel Ortegon, Sam Feazell and Chris Querino.

Lanty Michael

Michael "Mickey" Lanty, 71, of San Angelo passed away on January 18, 2020. He was born on October 14, 1949 in Queens, New York, to Raymond and Josephine Lourita Lanty. He was married to Rosalie Ann Lanty in Springfield, Massachusetts on December 26, 1960 and began a 20 year career in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1990 in San Angelo, Texas. Mickey then worked for Wal Mart and taught at Lakeview High School over a period of 20 years. Mickey had a passion for photography, especially nature subjects like wildlife and scenic scapes that were often published in the local newspaper. This started while in the service and continued until his death. He also pursued square dancing with the vigor and vitality that was his nature and travelled to local and distant square dance festivals as far away as Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Indeed, he was attending a square dance event in San Antonio where he passed from this life. He and Rosalie undertook to rescue and provide shelter to any roving creature that sought a home. He will be interred at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens where a graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 2 PM in the care of Johnson's Funeral Home.
