Last year, 47 state parks reported 141 heat-related illnesses in humans and pets. Since January 1, 77 heat-related incidents have already been reported, compared to 64 reported by this time last year.
Commuters across San Angelo were stranded on the road or had to find alternative routes around flood prone low water crossings. The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for the city as between 1.5. and 2.5 inches of rain fell in places.
Last year, wardens issued 1,560 citations and 1,976 warnings for various boating safety law violations. Forty-nine individuals were also arrested for Boating While Intoxicated.
The experts say Saturday's high of 100 degrees will be the last triple digit this streak of 100+ days. Sunday's high will only be 95 with a slight, very slight, chance of rain.
The Excessive Heat Warning currently in place for West Texas will be replaced with more seasonal temperatures and a slight chance of rain by the weekend.
