SAN ANGELO, Texas – Residents across the southwestern counties of the Concho Valley should remain vigilant today as near-critical Fire Weather conditions are anticipated through early this evening. Southerly winds are predicted to sweep through the area at speeds ranging from 15 to 20 mph, with occasional gusts reaching up to 35 mph. Wind intensity is expected to ease off as the evening progresses, dropping to approximately 10 to 15 mph. Overnight temperatures will remain relatively mild, hovering in the mid to upper 50s, accompanied by an increase in cloud cover across much of the area.
As the day progresses, southerly winds are forecasted to intensify, peaking from late morning into early evening. Relative humidity (RH) levels are anticipated to range between 15 to 25 percent across the area. The combination of low RH values, gusty winds, and above-average temperatures will elevate the risk of fire, particularly in the western Concho Valley and Northern Edwards Plateau where fuel conditions range from dry to critically dry.
Similar weather patterns are expected to persist through the weekend, with only marginally higher RH values providing slight relief. Residents are urged to exercise caution and adhere to any fire safety advisories issued by local authorities. Stay informed and prepared as we navigate through these challenging weather conditions.
