Hermelinda "Linda" Sanchez Hinojosa

09/15/2021 - 09:07 , by TKing09

It is with great sadness that the family of Hermelinda "Linda" Sanchez Hinojosa announces her call to Heaven on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the age of 74.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving family, husband, Gus Hinojosa of San Angelo; brother, Lazaro Sanchez and wife Judy of Aspermont; two daughters, Janda Castillo and husband Joe of Austin and Manda Klein and husband Todd of Lubbock, and the pride and joy of her life, grandsons, Jacob Michael Castillo and John Francis Klein.

Linda was born on May 18, 1947 to Margarito and Irene (Perez) Sanchez in Menard.

Linda was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was strong in her faith and enjoyed attending mass. She was an active participant of Adoration and volunteered each year at the church festival. Linda was also a member of the ACTS and Emmaus Communities, De Colores!

Linda's sweet smile and loving nature will be greatly missed by all those that knew her, especially her Ya-Ya Sisters - a sisterhood that met regularly to worship Jesus and celebrate each other. Their friendship spans decades, and one of the last memories she talked about was her dear friends. She is survived by Rhonda Legg, Becky Callan, Doris Fox Clarke, Gail Harris and Sandy Caves.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Herlinda, and her parents, Margarito and Irene.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with the Rosary recitation at 6:00 PM Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 17, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Adam Droll, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers include family members, Paul Castillo, Tom Klein, and Gabriel Hinojosa; nephews, Brent Sanchez and Kevin Sanchez; close family friends, Jesse Fitchett and Gary Hardegree; and godson, Mario Esteban Luna.

Everyone should find a friend like Linda in this life. When reflecting on her life and spirit, Corinthians 13:4 - 7 is perfect, as she was synonymous with LOVE.

Linda is patient. Linda is kind. Linda does not envy or boast; she is not arrogant or rude. Linda does not insist on her own way; she is not irritable or resentful; she does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Linda's love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

God bless Linda Lu. May she rest in His arms.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Linda's giving nature to the San Angelo Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign War, 125 S Browning St., San Angelo, TX 76903 or a non-profit of your choice.

Phillip Farwell Templeton

09/15/2021 - 09:04 , by TKing09

Phillip Farwell Templeton, a lifelong San Angelo resident, died peacefully on September 7, 2021, at the age of 91. He was born in San Angelo, Texas, July 25, 1930.

Phillip attended San Angelo Jr. College in 1947 and studied pre-engineering. He received his BA degree in Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. In 2001, he was honored to receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Angelo State University. Phillip served his country during the Korean war as a company commander in the Engineering Aviation Scarwaf Battalion providing air base construction. In 1960, Phillip married Sharon Hall, a marriage that spanned sixty-one years.

His civic contributions include: President of the West Texas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America, also serving on the State Legislative Committee for that organization. He was Board Chairman of the Salvation Army; member of the Foundation Board of the School of Architecture at the University of Texas; served on the Board of Rio Concho, Angelo Civic Theatre, the Girl Scouts, the San Angelo Historical Commission and the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce. He served for seven years on the City of San Angelo Variance Commission and was a lifelong member of the Rotary Club.

Phillip was a devoted and faithful parishioner of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, which his father, H.F. Templeton, helped build in 1929. He served as vestry member, Sr. and Jr. Warden, Stewardship Chair, and volunteered for 20 years as a choir member and in the Education Program. On the Diocesan level, he served on the Executive Committee.

In his professional life he retired at age 70 after a lifelong career in the construction business with his father H.F. Templeton and brother Stuart Templeton. Among the many projects completed by the company were: numerous homes in the city; the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts; Southland Baptist Church Sanctuary; Emmanuel Episcopal Church; Good Shepherd Episcopal Church; Hemphill Wells department store; the Convention Center; Rio Concho East and the East Wing of the Rio Concho Retirement High Rise; Tom Green County Jail; Holy Angels Catholic Church; Lake View High School; Angelo Community Hospital, and numerous buildings at Goodfellow and Angelo State University. Templeton Construction doubled the size of the Rio Pecos power plant in McCamey and had projects in many other cities including San Antonio, Austin, Del Rio, Sonora, Ozona, Midland, and Fort Stockton.

Phillip and his brother Stuart were born with a natural gift for music. They enjoyed this throughout their life, beginning with their band, The Twin Mountain Boys. Phillip's original song, "Why Doesn't it Rain?" was often sung in performances at the University of Texas. He was honored to have been invited to play at a small gathering for Lady Bird Johnson's 80th birthday.

Phillip embraced the joy of life and challenges of life with grace. He took great pride in his family, was always eager to greet each day, and appreciated friendship. He loved his garden, relaxing with friends, and enjoying the golf course at San Angelo Country Club. At home, the love of walking in the door with a newfound plant or flower (or animal!) was an enthusiasm he never lost. Living with the joy of his music, his beautiful smile, his zest for life, his optimism, his integrity, enriched the life of his family.

The ravages of dementia were confusing for him and earthshattering for those of us who loved him so. It is said that dementia is "the long goodbye". How hard and how true. Goodbye, dear husband, father, grandfather, friend, as we release you to this beautiful mysterious world.

Phillip Templeton was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Roxanna Templeton, brother Stuart Templeton, sister Anne Molloy and infant daughter Julianna.

Phillip is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters, Rebecca Strout, Jackson, Wyoming, Susan Kinney and husband Craig Kinney of San Angelo; grandchildren, Phillip Garrett McClure, Dr. Sarah Frances McClure, Nathaniel Hall Kinney and Helen Clare Kinney; nephews Dr. Stephen Templeton, wife Beth; Scott Templeton, Attorney, wife Gracie; Paul Molloy, wife Maria; nieces Dr. Peggie Molloy; Marianne Beckwith, husband Marc and sister-in-law, Betty Templeton; brothers-in-law Stephen Hall and David Hall, and a wonderful group of nieces and nephews.

With the community's COVID crisis, our family has decided to hold a private memorial service and hopefully our friends can join us by livestream on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11am with Father Matt Rowe and Father Bill Wright. https://youtube.com/c/EmmanuelSanAn…;

Thank you from the family to our dear friends including Amparo Rodarte, José Trejo, Rick Harvey and the courageous medical team at Shannon Medical Center. Phillip loved this town. If you would like to give a memorial, some of his favorite local causes were the Salvation Army, the House of Faith, Drew Thieman Music Scholarship Fund at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, West Texas Counseling & Guidance, and Ballet San Angelo's Joy of Movement.

Charla June "Mame" Northcutt

09/15/2021 - 08:58 , by TKing09

On Sunday, September 12, 2021, Charla June Northcutt (Mame), 79, went to be at the feet of Jesus from Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, where she was surrounded by her girls.

Charla was born on August 21, 1942 in Orange County, California to Pete and Virginia Reese Warren. She was a long time resident of Colorado City and graduated from Colorado High School in 1960. After high school, she attended Sul Ross, Texas Tech, Texas Christian University, and Hardin Simmons University. She was a strong Christian woman and a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Colorado City in which she was very involved. Her career was in the Cotton Gin Industry as a Bookkeeper and Manager. She worked hard her whole life and in whatever she was doing, she was giving it her best. She was always so full of love and grit.

Charla was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Bobby Joe Northcutt, her father and mother, Pete and Virginia Warren, and her best friend, Clay Mann Smith. She is survived by her daughter Jody and Richy Womack of Colorado City, TX and daughter Becca George of San Angelo, TX. She has six grandchildren; Ramzi and Chandler Caddell of Abilene, TX; Huntyr Messick of Charlotte, NC; Talyn and Kyler Billingsley of Lubbock, TX; Kazdyn Womack of Colorado City, TX; Megan Smith and Garrison George of San Angelo, TX; and two great grandchildren, Spade Messick and Brazos Caddell of Abilene, TX. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn Creager of Kermit, TX; Skip and Colleen Warren of Spring, TX and numerous nephews, nieces, and a whole lot of friends.
Growing up, Charla was a dancer, twirler and an acrobatic. She also had a passion for horses and agriculture. Whether it was exercising and training thoroughbreds for the race track, roping and barrel racing in the rodeo arena, on the ranch working cattle or helping out on the farm, she was the hardest worker and excelled at anything she did.

Charla was the most kind, giving and loving woman who lived life to the fullest and loved every person she came across. She never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything. She was the most selfless person and would give the shirt off her back to anyone. She never let you leave her house empty handed and if she had something you liked, she was going to give it to you and make you take it home.

Charla was an “all in” kind of person, in everything she did; from hard work, to various activities for her grandchildren. For her, if you're going to do something then do it right and be the best you can at it. She was hard on you but the most fun Mother and Grandmother and never missed any of her kids or grandchildren’s events. She was at every single ball game, an hour early, because she was never late to anything. She adored her kids and grands more than anything in this world and instilled her love for God in each of them and taught her family to put the Lord above all else.

Visitation will be at the Womack residence Friday evening, Sept. 24th from 6 to 8pm.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Spade Cemetery at 11 o’clock a.m. All family and friends are welcome to this celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the West Texas Boys Ranch in San Angelo, TX or a charity of your choice.

Her legacy will live on in our hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with, as well as those she reached but never met.

Bruce Ian Foreman

09/13/2021 - 09:01 , by TKing09

Bruce Ian Foreman, 82, of San Angelo, Texas, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

Bruce was born September 10, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, to Maurice and Marcelle Foreman. He and his family relocated to Falls Church, Virginia. It was there that he and his younger brother helped his father clear their thickly wooded homestead property with only hand saws so their home could be constructed. He attended high school in Annandale, Virginia, where he enjoyed participating in the drama, chess, yearbook and photography clubs. After high school graduation, he studied engineering at Virginia Tech, before joining the United States Air Force.

While in the military, Bruce was selected to study Mandarin Chinese at the Institute of Far Eastern Languages at Yale University. His military enlistment with the Air Force Security Service took him to numerous locations throughout the United States, as well as foreign assignments including Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Vietnam, and Taiwan. After a distinguished military career, Bruce retired from the USAF in 1978 with twenty years of active-duty military service.

While stationed at Goodfellow AFB, Bruce met Marilynn Marshall, a student at Shannon School of Nursing; and they married in San Angelo in 1965. They raised two children and settled in San Angelo after Bruce’s retirement from the USAF. Upon retirement, Bruce owned and operated his own photography studio in San Angelo, earning a reputation as an accomplished portrait and wedding photographer. He later returned to civil service at Goodfellow AFB and served as a staff photographer until his civilian retirement in 2000.

Bruce was involved for many years in the Concho Valley Vietnam Veterans Association, San Angelo Gun Club, and the Concho Valley Photography Club, earning their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. His gift as a lifelong teacher was most recently expressed in working with others to learn and enjoy the art of photography - a craft he loved throughout his military career as well as his civilian life and a legacy that will live on through the many moments, people, and places he lovingly and expertly photographed.

Bruce was preceded in death by parents, Maurice and Marcelle Foreman; brother, Vance Foreman; and brother-in-law, Paul Zeek. He is survived by his wife, Marilynn Foreman, of San Angelo; daughter, Laura Washington, of San Angelo; son, Jeff Foreman, and wife, Julie, of Round Rock, Texas; sister, Marcella Palmer and husband, Fred, of Tallahassee, Florida; brother-in-law Steve Marshall, and wife Phyllis, of Odessa, Texas; sisters-in-law Phyllis Zeek, of Burleson, Texas, and Sue Bowers, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and grandsons, Jason Foreman, of San Angelo, and Ethan Foreman, of Round Rock, Texas. Bruce is also survived by nieces and nephews, Scott Foreman, of Little Rock, Arkansas; Doug Shaffer, of Tallahassee, Florida; and Kelly Shaffer, of DeLand, Florida; and many extended family members, very special friends, and extremely kind neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions kindly be made in support of a favorite charity, especially one serving veterans or animal welfare.

Bruce was a fiercely devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a proud veteran. Although he retired from the Air Force, he continued to live by his oath of service – to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against enemies, foreign and domestic. He shared his kind, generous, and humorous spirit with others every day and taught by example, with his motto “Be a good American.”

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at a future date.
