Salmon Pamela Eubanks

Pamela “Pam” Eubanks Salmon, 73, of San Angelo went to be with her Father in Heaven on December 11, 2019 surrounded by friends and family. Pam was born June 16, 1946 in Fort Worth to Elma Lee and Lennie Leo Eubanks. The daughter of a Major in the U.S. Air Force, Pam spent her youngest years in schools in Japan, Scotland, and across the U.S. She graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1964 and went on to earn her Bachelors In Education and later a Masters in Education from Angelo State University. Known to her students as Mrs. Livensparger and later, Mrs. Salmon, she taught Sophomore and Junior level English for over 30 years, almost all of those at Central High School. She was the first girls golf coach at Central for many years and was awarded “Teacher of the Year.” Pam was also a member of “Who’s Who Among American Teachers” during her tenure. She retired in 1999 to travel and pursue other passions.

Pam was a member of First United Methodist Church and both Bentwood and San Angelo Country Club.

She was an avid golfer and loved being outdoors with her girlfriends on the golf course. She was an extraordinary artist, painting flowers, abstracts, and sights from her world travels. She shared her time and talent with various organizations including Hospice and the West Texas Rehab Center. Pam co-sponsored the Salmon Sculpture Competition for which she received a Special Merit Award from the Chamber in 2015 and appreciated art in many forms. A natural lover of books, she always relished in quiet time to read.

Pam will be remembered for her quick wit, beautiful smile, compassionate nature, and selfless devotion to her family and others. She loved fiercely and whole heartedly and felt so fortunate for the good life with her husband, daughter(s), grandchildren, and cherished friends who loved her deeply in return.

Pam chose joy. She displayed boundless affection for all who were lucky enough to be on the receiving end, particularly her beloved grandchildren who called her “Gigi.”

Pam Salmon is survived by her husband of nearly 30 years, Richard Salmon of San Angelo. Her daughter, Aimee Livensparger French and husband Michael French of Austin, stepdaughter Jennifer Herring and husband Brad Herring of San Antonio, stepdaughter Julie Carcanagues and husband Jeff Carcanagues, also of San Antonio. Pam’s precious grandchildren include Chad Ponder, Lauren French, Dawson French, Jack Carcanagues, and Kendall Pinson. Pam was close to her uncle Sid Eubanks and wife Johnnie of Bronte and will be missed by her rescue cat, “Lucky.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Leo Eubanks.

The Visitation will be on Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at Harper Funeral Home. A Celebration of Pam’s Life will be held at First United Methodist Church on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be private following the service. Arrangements are by Harper Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Linda Carpenter, Janie Delaney, Marilyn Drake, Annetta Gray, Debbie Grissen, Billie Halbert, Donna Heard, Judy Morgan, and Vicki Neace.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials or donations in the name of Pam Salmon are welcomed by Hospice of San Angelo, West Texas Rehabilitation Center, or Meals for the Elderly.

The family wishes to thank the generosity and outpouring of support from cherished friends.

Wales John Robert

John “Johnny” Robert Wales passed away December 10, 2019 at his residence.

Johnny was born to Robert and Mary Beth Wales on January 28, 1939 in San Saba, Texas. He grew up in Eden, Texas before moving to Mertzon. Johnny loved ranching, taking care of the land and his “Girls”. Johnny also enjoyed meeting his friends at the coffee shop in the morning to talk.

Mr. Wales is preceded in death by his Daughter Mae Marie Wales-Elliott, and his parents.

Johnny is survived by his son Baron Lee Wales, of San Angelo; sister Grace Marie McIntyre, of Dallas; Son-In-Law Roger Elliot, of Brady; Grandchildren Brody Mertz, of Holland, TX, Kylie Mertz, of Cyclone, TX, Bailey Mertz, Academy, TX; Six Great Grandchildren; and many close friends.

An open visitation will be held all day Friday, December 13, 2019 at Harper Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be held at Mertzon Cemetery at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 14, 2019.

Melendez Roy Gabriel

Roy Gabriel Melendez, 46, went with the Lord on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.

Roy was born on June 1, 1973 in Dallas, Tx to Roy and Diana Melendez. He was the oldest of three sons. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1992. Roy was a longtime employee at Shannon Medical Center at the St. John’s Campus. He enjoyed his job, especially working with the elderly, helping them with life/ daily skills. He was a jokester and loved making people laugh and he had a generous heart. One of his many past times was playing Bingo and watching the Los Angeles Lakers. Family time was very important to Roy and his greatest role in life was being a father to his two sons.

Roy is survived by his two sons Cameron and Caleb Melendez along with his parents Roy and Diana Melendez. He has two brothers, Daniel (Angie) and Keith (Nely). He has three nephews, Keith Jr., Evan and Daniel Jr., and one niece, Alexis.

Viewing will be 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Friday, December 13, at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd, in San Angelo. Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 14th at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the San Angelo Down Syndrome Association in his honor.

Suzanne Davis Slate, 92, passed away Monday, December 9, 2019, in San Angelo surrounded by her family.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends form 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM and from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, December 13, 2019, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the First Baptist Church Leavell Chapel with Pastor Vince Smith, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Slate was born December 30, 1926, in Waco to Guy Franklin and Frances Davis. She married Kenneth Morton Slate on March 4, 1950, in San Angelo. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2019. Suzanne has been a lifelong resident graduating from San Angelo High School, and she attended San Angelo Jr. College for two years. She was active in Angelo State University Alumni Association. Suzanne was a member of the First Baptist Church where she worked with high school students and in the children's department. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Republic (D.A.R.) and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

Survivors include her two sons, Douglas Franklin Slate, and Stanley Morton Slate and wife, Jeanie, all of San Angelo; two grandchildren, Anita Christene Paulin of Duluth, Georgia, and Hannah Michelle Slate of San Angelo; three sisters, Louise Miller, Nancy Kennedy, and husband, Fred and Linda Nolen and husband, John all of San Angelo; several nieces and nephews. Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents and a baby sister.

Armanda “Mandy” Flores Korn, 52, of San Angelo, TX, passed away December 10, 2019. She was born in San Angelo, TX on May 5, 1967. Mandy graduated from San Angelo Central High School. She was married to Michael Anthony Korn on June 1, 2011. Mandy had a career as a LVN working in the Nursing field. She had a passion for cooking, nursing and helping others. She is survived by her mother, Hilda Lennox Vasquez, father, Jose Manuel Flores; brothers and sisters, Michelle Flores of Odessa, TX, Anthony Lennox and wife Cassie of San Angelo, TX; son Gage Littlefield; step-sons, Anthony Korn and wife AnDreyuh (Andi) of San Antonio, Jeremy Korn and wife Alexis of San Antonio, TX, Michael James Korn of San Angelo, TX; her fur babies, Sonya, Little Bit, George, Sunshine, Sox and Grasshopper; nieces and nephews, Bryn Barnes of Winter Springs, FL, Daron Barnes and husband Bradley Frazier; great niece, Noryanne “Nory” Jo Barnes-Frazier of Midland, TX, Dusty Frasier and wife Sami Frasier of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren, Zane Korn, Ava Korn, Jeremias Korn, Belle Korn and Luke Korn all from San Antonio, TX; aunts, Cecilia Ford of San Antonio, TX, Betty Mensch of San Angelo, TX; uncle, Armando Vasquez Jr. and wife Yvette; brother-in-law, Larry Korn and wife Louise and mother-in-law, Betty Jane Korn. Smith Ray Lewis

Ray Lewis “Sonny” Smith, 77, passed away at his residence in San Angelo on Tuesday morning, December 10, 2019. Sonny was born in Brady, Texas on October 4, 1942 to Maurice and Nyla Lewis Smith. Sonny was the only son and had two sisters, Linda and Sandra. Sonny married Eileen Beuchump on January 5, 1963 in San Angelo, Texas. Sonny and Eileen were married for 56 years, 25 days short of 57 years.

They had two sons, Clay, wife Amy, and Cory, wife Stephanie; four grandsons, Hayden, Brady, Kendall and Kade.

Sonny graduated from Central High School in San Angelo in 1962. Sonny worked for Gandy’s Dairies for 35 years and retired. He was then self-employed and worked with his sons for 10 years. Sonny’s interests were hot rods and camping with his family.

He is survived by his spouse, Eileen Smith; children, Clay Smith (Amy) and Cory Smith (Stephanie);his grandchildren, Hayden Smith, Brady Smith, Kendall Smith and Kade Smith;; siblings, Linda Westbrook (Bill) and Sandra Peace (Jimmy) and his beloved pet, Thor. He was predeceased by his parents, Maurice Raymond Smith and Nyla Lewis Smith.

Viewing will be 8:00am - 7:00pmThursday, December 12, at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo. Funeral Service is at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 13, at Johnson Street Church of Christ, San Angelo, Texas. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, San Angelo, Texas.

Zakrzewski Jozef

Jozef Zawrzewski, also affectionately known to many as Tato, Pops and Dziadek, passed away on December 7th, 2019 at 9:05 pm in his home in San Angelo, Texas surrounded by his loving family.

Jozef was born in Baginskie, Poland and was 86 years old at the time of his passing. Growing up in Poland during World War II, at the age of 8, Jozef started his fight for humanity as a letter carrier delivering information to members of the Polish resistance which he stored in his bicycle frame. In his adult years he continued his passion while working as a foremen for the PKP Railroad and continued to rise through the ranks as a Lieutenant in the Polish Solidarity movement. He was an extremely instrumental figure in the downfall of the Polish Communist Government.

Jozef moved to the United States with his loving wife Gabriela and three of his six children on September 11, 1983. Jozef immediately embraced the patriotic spirit of the United States and was so very proud to be an American.
In life he was well known for his strong family values and always putting family first, something he instilled in all of his children. Along with his family values he was known for adopting friends and incorporating them as though they were blood. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral community and served as an usher for 28 years and is a 3rd degree Knight with his local Chapter of the Knights of Columbus.

Jozef is survived by daughter Eva Salvato and husband Barrett Salvato, daughter Ula Drozdzowska and husband Norbert Drozdzowski, son Roman Zakrzewski and Asia Sztajner, daughter Bernarda Walek, son Wojciech (Wojo) Zakrzewski, son-in-law Shymon Kasek, 8 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, 2 great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, Babcia Gwen Hopkins, and Martha Dosiek and family.
Jozef joins his loving wife and soulmate Gabriela Zakrzewska, eldest daughter Bogumila Kasek, and first born granddaughter Dagmara Kasek in heaven, who were proceeded by his parents Romuald Zakrzewski and Anna Zakrzewska, in-laws Walenty Rogalski and Karolina Rogalska and his 2 sisters.

The Zakrzewski family would like to extend a thank you to Martha Fleming, the Menchaca family, Chaplin Mike, Saint Gabriel’s Hospice and their amazing staff; Jenny Price-Fiero, Jennifer Coleman, Nicole Hernandez and a very special thank you to Cindy Baca and Crystal Collard.

Vigil service will be held at Harper Funeral Home located at 2606 Southland Blvd. San Angelo TX, 76904, Friday December 13th at 6PM.

Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral located at 20 E Beauregard Ave. San Angelo TX, 76903, Saturday, December 14th at 10 AM with burial service following immediately after at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his honor.

Flanary Kenneth Dale

Kenneth Dale Flanary was born on August 7, 1939 in San Angelo, Texas. He passed away peacefully in his home on December 8, 2019. Ken served in the Navy from 1956-1963 on the USS Midway CVA 41. He then made his home in San Angelo where he became the owner of Ken's Plumbing Company for the past 45 years. He met the love of his life, Sherry, and married her on August 25, 1995. Ken was a loving husband, father, and friend of many. He always knew how to make you laugh and had a heart full of love all of the way until his very last day. He was dedicated to making sure everyone close to him was taken care of. He will be missed by so many. We know he will no longer be hurting and will now watch over all of us.

Ken was preceded in death by his father, Roy Flanary; his mother, Clemmie Flanary; and brothers: JC Flanary, Lonnie Flanary, Norman Flanary, and William Flanary.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Minzenmayer Flanary; his children: Gary Flanary (Trish), Tammy Flanary (Cody), Kelly Haggart (Kevin), Stacy Stagman (Mark), and Thomas Wilson (Laura); eight grandsons; sister, Doris Mills; and brothers, Jody Flanary (Ethel), and Randy Flanary (Lona).

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday, December 11 at Harper Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2 PM on Thursday, December 12 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, San Angelo, Texas.

The family would like to thank all of the amazing care and love provided by all of the staff at the Hospice of San Angelo.
