Margaret Louise Whitten was born on July 12, 1929 and passed away on May 25, 2020 and is under the care of Johnson's Funeral Home.

Maria Navarro Talamantes, age 84, passed away peacefully at Texas Health Harris Methodist in Ft. Worth, TX on May 22, 2020. She was born on May 30, 1935 to Felix Sr. and Ernesta Navarro in San Angelo, TX.
Maria always had a servant’s heart that was full of love, compassion, and forgiveness. She was a strong prayer warrior that never turned anyone away or passed up a chance to pray for you.
Maria devoted the first part of her life to her community by being involved in politics including being a LULAC member, an Election Judge, and other organizations. The second part of her life was dedicated to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She started an Outreach program and Children’s Ministry in her own backyard, which grew into a fulltime ministry. She also opened up her own church El Buen Pastor Fellowship.
Maria is survived by her five children and their spouses: Belinda & Jesse Hopper, Jr., Roy & Mary Urias, Ernie & Anna Urias, Eddie & Olga Urias, and Frank Dominguez, Jr.; 27 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her four siblings: Frances Casarez, Pauline Reyes, Joe Navarro, and Paul Navarro.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her 4 brothers and 1 sister and husband Leonardo Talamantes, Sr.
A Celebration of her life will be held 6:00pm, Sunday, May 31st at the Harper Funeral Home Chapel. The Graveside service is to be held 11:00am, Monday, June 1st at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for the service include Casianna Limon-Soto, David Espinoza, Jacob Urias, Matthew Dominguez, Josh Urias, and Eduardo L. Urias. Honorary Pallbearers are Alec Pena, Priscilla Limon-Soto, Jesse Hopper, Jr., and Frankie Dominguez III.

Alice Luna Reyes, 73, went to be with the Lord Monday morning, May 25, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones.

Alice Reyes was born October 19, 1946, in San Angelo, to Lily Samarripa and Fidel Luna. She was five years old when her mother, Lily, died of tuberculosis. Shortly after, her second mom entered her life. Eunice was very special and dear to her. Alice was a 1966 graduate of Central High School and received her associate degree in accounting from American Commercial College. She married Juan Reyes, Sr. on July 30, 1966, in San Angelo. Alice was a florist until her retirement on November 1, 2019. She loved working with flowers, reading books, and spending time with her grandchildren. Alice had the warmest heart and was a loving friend to many.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Juan Antonio Reyes, Jr.; a daughter, Susy Castaneda and husband Eddie of Abilene; son, Juan Reyes, Jr. and wife Alicia of San Angelo; six grandchildren, Alisha and husband Corey, Emma, Luke, Nicholas, Alison, and Alina; two great granddaughters, Adalynn and Brynlee; two sisters, Mary Ellen Jones and husband Ernest of San Angelo, Rosemary Martinez and husband Elizar of North Richland Hills; one brother, Fidel Luna, Jr. and wife Rachel of San Angelo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Alice is preceded in death by her mom, Lily Samarripa; her parents, Fidel and Eunice Luna; her infant son, Ricardo “Dickey” Reyes.

Family and friends are invited for a time of come and go fellowship from 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM Saturday, May 30, 2020 followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 2:30 PM Saturday at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Rev. Eddie Castaneda. Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Connie Rae Probst Grimes, born October 9th 1936 in San Angelo, daughter of Raymond and Ruby Probst, passed away on Friday, May 22 from natural causes at the age of 83.

Connie leaves her daughter Patricia Susaraba Strunk and son Charles Susaraba along with grandchildren Stephen Bergman, Charlene Bergman, Charles Bergman, James Bergman, William Strunk, Amanda Strunk Miller and Justin Susaraba.

Connie was a Lakeview HS and ASU graduate and survived three husbands, Henry Susaraba, Bill Blake and Glen Crimes along with her daughter Suzan Susaraba Bergman and youngest grandson Chaz Susaraba.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, June 1st at 10:00 AM at Lawnhaven Memorial Garden.

Emidio Ralph Wayne Greg Ramirez “Boogie” age 20 of San Angelo, TX earned his angel wings on May 22, 2020. Emidio was born August 4, 1999, the son of Emidio and Samantha Ramirez. He was the third of four kids. He attended SAISD Schools and graduated from Lake View High School in 2017.

Boogie enjoyed playing baseball throughout his childhood years and then went on to help his dad coach his little sister’s softball team. He was an expert fisherman. He spent countless hours throughout his life on the banks catching fish from the time he was just tall enough to cast his own pole out. He spent many holidays and summers camping with his family. During racing season, he spent almost every weekend working on cars and cheering on his favorite racers on the track.

Emidio is survived by his parents Emidio and Samantha Ramirez, his brother, Brandon Ramirez and girl friend Zuly Blanco and unborn nephew; two sisters Alura Flemming and Jennie Ramirez; his maternal grandparents, Melton and Jennie Watson; his paternal grandmother, Paz Ramirez; maternal great-grandmother, Rosie Fuson; his uncles, Frank Ramirez and his wife Jenny, Lee Watson, and Melton Watson; his uncles, Thelma Walker, Anita Ramirez, Angie Wright and her husband Tony, and Margaret Planytnt and her husband PR. He is also survived by numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins and special family friends. Emidio will be joining in heaven his grandfather, Emido M Ramirez Sr.

Viewing will be held at Robert Massie Funeral Home on Thursday, May 28th from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until service time. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

A reception for family and friends will immediately follow the graveside service at 1914 Shady Point Circle Drive.

Merton Skaggs left the limitations of this life behind on May 20, to join the love of his life in their heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Peggy Dechert Skaggs, who transcended this world on August 6, 2019. He is survived his by sister, Marvel Ann Moss; son, Mel Skaggs and wife, Susan; daughter, Angela Skaggs; grandchildren Nathan Sirnic, Alan Skaggs, Marie Skaggs, and Bridget Skaggs; niece, Ann Moss; nephew, Marvin Moss; and two great grandchildren. Born on November 15, 1928 in Junction, Texas, Merton grew up on the family ranch, raising champion Angora goats, and never lost his love of ranching. He graduated from Junction High School in 1946, received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M in 1950 and his Master of Education degree from Texas A&M in 1966. After completing his active duty military service, he returned to Kimble County in 1953, where he ranched during the drought of the 1950’s, and became a schoolteacher, bus driver, and coach in the Junction Independent School District. In 1966, after three years of teaching in Iraan, Texas, the family moved to San Angelo, where Merton taught at Central High School until his retirement in 1990.
Members of First United Methodist Church of San Angelo since 1966, the Skaggs served in numerous capacities in the church. Merton was also active in the church’s initial involvement in “Christmas in April,” and assisted Jim Lane and others in setting up the first summer lunch program for school children. He hand-built beautiful furniture in his garage and also enjoyed utilizing what he had on hand to meet a new purpose. His “happy place,” however, was always when he could spend the day at the ranch with his “critters.” His other great joy was dancing with Peggy. At one point they belonged to four different dance clubs. They also enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises, where they would dance every night.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ty Hughston and Dr. Brian Bradley for their care. A special thank you also goes the Bayith Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church, and to Carl and Pat Schlinke, and other dear friends of the family.
Those wishing to make a donation in Merton’s memory are invited to consider West Texas Rehabilitation Center, Meals for the Elderly, or the charity of their choice.
Merton was a good, faithful, and loving man, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Hopefully soon such a gathering will not pose a high risk to the well-being of assembled friends and family.

Sandra Barnes Shea was born in 1938 in Austin, Texas to George and Donna (Hornsby) Barnes. The family moved to San Angelo before WW II, went back to Austin during the war years, then returned to San Angelo.
Sandra was a graduate of San Angelo High School, Class of ‘56, and the University of Texas 1960. She taught school in Austin, Madrid Spain, Rapid City, South Dakota, and The Pennsbury Schools, Buck County, Pa. Her graduate work was at Penn State and Princeton University.

Retired from Pennsbury High School in 1997 where she served as Social Studies Department Chairman. A member of the Site Based Team, Sandra was also sponsor of the World Affairs Club, the Mock Trial Team, and the Environmental Club. Through the years at Pennsbury, Sandra taught International Studies, Modern US History, European History and American Government. She received the Dean's Citation from Rider College in N.J. and was twice one of the top 10 Pa. teachers. Sandra traveled widely to support her teaching experiences. While living in Spain she traveled throughout Europe and North Africa. Also England, Mexico, the Middle East, South America, and the former Soviet Union were part of her experiences as well.

Sandra was President of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International in Bucks Co, Pa. President of the Delta Gamma Alumnae of Bucks County as well as Province Alumnae Chairman. A member of the Bucks County Historical Society and the Langhorne Pa. Historical Society. Sandra enjoyed the years of living and traveling in the East. Broadway musicals rounded out her experiences. Moved to San Angelo, Texas in 2002.

In San Angelo since 2001, Sandra enjoyed being in the P.E.O. Sisterhood where she served as recording secretary. She graduated from E.F.M. (Education for Ministry) after four years of study at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in 2008. This is a special extension course from the School of Divinity at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. She was a member of Father Allan's Bible Studies since 2003. She is a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Long a genealogist, Sandra was a member of the Reuben Hornsby Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.


Al and Sandra Shea married in San Angelo, but lived in Bucks County, PA for almost forty years. Her daughter Kelly married a Texan, Steve Martin. Grandsons Davis, Brock, Chase and Channing Martin. Her sister is Lilla (Teeny) Pearce and her husband Bill Pearce of Breckenridge and a nephew Casey and Monica Pearce and their son Gunner of Breckenridge.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 5:00-7:00pm at Harper Funeral Home.

Melba D. Carmichael was born on December 13, 1923 and passed away on May 22, 2020 and is under the care of Johnson's Funeral Home.

Gladis M. Nichols, 89, of Waxahachie, passed away on May 24, 2020. She was born on December 23, 1930 in San Angelo, TX to Sylvestor and Fannie Templeton. Gladis began her career in Business, working for Nichols Refrigeration as co-owner. Gladis married Ben Nichols on February 13, 1948 and had 4 children. She had a passion for traveling across the United States. Gladis will always be remembered for her love of her family and friends and the Lord our God. She was preceded in death by her husband Ben; grandson Ben III and her 10 siblings and their spouses. Gladis is survived by Benny and Debbie, Debbie and Charley Boles, Yvonne and Chuck Groves and Wayland Nichols. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2020 in the chapel of Johnson’s Funeral Home with burial to follow in Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Billie Muriel Abbe Parker, 94, of Midland, Texas, was called home Saturday, May, 23, 2020. She was born August 16, 1925 in Big Spring, Texas to Thomas Edward Abbe and Frances Velma Cardwell Abbe Merworth. She married Victor Raymond Parker on July 25, 1943. they celebrated 68 years of marriage before Raymond's passing in 2011.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Henry Merworth. Also, her two sons, Victor Ronald Parker and Ernie Charles Parker, a granddaughter, Pamela Jane Parker, and six brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Sandy Young and husband Phil of Midland, Texas, Suzy Tucker and husband Mike of Artesia, New Mexico, and Brenda Parker of South Padre Island, Texas. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home with visitation on Tuesday, May 26 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Chapel services will be on Wednesday, May 27 at 2:00 PM with interment to follow at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. She will be laid to rest between her beloved husband and oldest son.
