Bland Annie Elois

05/21/2020 - 10:33 , by TKing09

On February 28, 1919 in Italy, Texas, the union of Rufus and Morena Walker Boyd was blessed with a third child, a daughter named Annie Elois Boyd. Elois was born, raised, and educated in Texas, where she completed her studies at Italy High School. After World War II, Elois moved to San Angelo, Texas and became a domestic cook. Elois started working for the Holland family and eventually ended up in the employ of the Hughes family. Elois worked for the Hughes family for three generations. Her apricot fried pies were the envy of all who had the good fortune to taste one. Following her retirement and subsequent marriage, Elois joined her husband working for the City of San Angelo Water Department. After Milton’s passing, Elois continued to work for the Water Department well into her 90’s. Elois acquired many new friends from the contacts she made at the Water Department. On February 14, 1985, Annie Elois married Milton L. Bland who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mable Jacobs, and her brother, Ralph Boyd. Elois was a devout Christian. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and remained faithful until her reunion with her Lord on Monday May 18, 2020 at the ripe old age of 101. While in San Angelo, Elois was a member of the Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church in the pastorate of Rev. Robert Yarborough, where she served in many positions through the decades including usher. Elois absolutely loved dogs. She never missed a showing of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Lois even collected figurines of her favorite breeds to decorate her home. Naturally all the Hughes pets adopted Lois as their primary caretaker, and all those various pets were spoiled. Elois was also a regular contributor to many charitable causes, happy to share what she had with those less fortunate. Our gratitude and thanks go out to the staff of Regency House for the excellent care they provided Lois in the last two years of her life. We’ll miss Lois. She was one of a kind. Her stories about her employers and about the events of her long life were the source of great amusement and education. She grew-up in a different time and her wise insights blessed all who heard them. Lois was a treasure who is now enjoying her reward in Heaven for a life well lived. Graveside services are being held on Tuesday, May 26 at 10:00am at Lawnhaven Memorial Garden under the direction of Johnson’s funeral home. Informal visitation and viewing are scheduled for Monday May 25 from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Rasor Jim

05/19/2020 - 09:30 , by TKing09

When someone would ask Jim Rasor how he was doing, he replied, "l woke up this morning so it's a good day. And if I don't wake up tomorrow morning, it's going to be a better day because I know where I'm going". Well, Sunday May the 17th was a better day for Jim Rasor, because he's not laboring hard to breathe with cancer filled lungs and he has the use of his arms and legs without the numerous strokes he had in the last 2 weeks. It is a better day indeed.

Jim was born to loving parents Jesse and Lila Rasor in Texarkana, TX, moved all around North Texas landing in Lubbock, where he graduated from high school and joined the Army. After being discharged from the Army he entered Texas Tech in Lubbock, graduated with a business degree in 1969, but not before meeting the love of his life, Linda Barnhart at Texas Tech and marrying in January of 1967. Jim’s new father-in-law offered him a job at Barney’s Studio in San Angelo where they started raising their family and in March of 1974, their son Wayne was born to start the Rasor legacy. Jim moved to a career in insurance sales while continuing to take photos at weddings for many years.

After short stints in Dallas and Austin with insurance companies, they landed back in San Angelo where he became heavily involved in the San Angelo community. Jim was part of organizing the barbershop chapter of the Twin Mountain Tonesmen and enjoyed singing with them for many years. One of the highlights for Jim was a 3-day children’s camp sponsored by the West Texas Rehabilitation Center at Lake Nasworthy where he maintained the property and prepared for hundreds of kids for 30+ years. After 25 years of involvement at College Hills Christian Church as an Elder, Youth Sponsor and Sunday School Teacher, they moved their membership to First Methodist Church to attend church with Jim’s dear friend and Mother-in-Law Loleta Barnhart. At First Methodist, he was very active in the Journey Sunday School Class, Neighbors Cafe Cooking Team, and Do-Dads. During these years, he was active in the Walk to Emmaus and served as a Chrysalis Lay Director.

Jim was not bashful about his faith and friendship with Jesus and as a result would invite total strangers to his Friday Morning Men’s Bible Study Group where he met with these caring Christian men for over 35 years and he loved them all dearly. When Wayne married Brenda in 1995, Jim gained the daughter he never had and was blessed with his first granddaughter, Merissa, who along with her husband Jaie, just blessed Jim with his first great granddaughter, Arabella. Jace and Rhiannon complete the current family circle for a total of 3 grandchildren and gave him lots to talk about as future law enforcement, paramedic/firefighter. The last week of Jim’s life he was surrounded by special friends and family including his brother John Rasor, Laura, Austin, and Kimberly Gillis, Barbara and Joe Rallo and Shelley and Joe Boyd.

If Jim could describe the 78 years of his life in one word, it would be “blessed”.

A Memorial service will be held 11:00am, Saturday, May 23, 2020 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Bradford officiating.

Dunlap Daniel

05/19/2020 - 09:17 , by TKing09

Daniel Andrew Dunlap, age 79 died peacefully at home in Big Lake, Texas on May 18, 2020

Private family graveside services to celebrate his life will be held in the Terry County Cemetery in Brownfield, Texas.

Daniel was born July 25, 1940, in Littlefield, Texas to Andrew and Jamie Murrell Dunlap. For many years the family lived 9 miles North of Brownfield on their cotton farm.

Daniel had a heart of gold, but he could be a bit of a ring tailed tooter too! He loved to gamble and was known for his talent at playing pool and cards. You just couldn’t beat him.

He stayed close to family throughout his entire life. Daniel was an introverted man, but if he let you into his heart, what a blessing it was! He was resilient and determined, even when doctors told him he had just a year to live, he took that as a challenge and with a gleam in his eye, he bet he could outlive their predictions, and he did! He lived and died on his own terms. He was treasured by his family who will dearly miss him.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Joyce Quinney.

He is survived by his brother, David Jack Dunlap, three nieces, Charletta Collins, Crystal Quinney and Michelle Watson, and several great nieces and nephews.

Please leave online condolences at www. Robertmassie.com
