Henry Orr Brodnax

12/11/2020 - 15:11 , by TKing09

Henry Orr “Boley” Brodnax, of Wall, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 9, 2020 at the age of 93.
He was born September 9, 1927 in Rockdale, Texas, the third of eight children and the only boy, to Barry Orr and Linda Stork Brodnax. In 1928, his family moved to West Texas and settled in the Fairview community where they ran a dairy and farmed.
He joined the U.S. Army after World War II helping with the clean up of Germany and working with the flight crews. Boley was a storyteller and he had many interesting stories about his time in Germany and the beautiful countryside.
He married his longtime sweetheart, Virginia Lee Wood, on November 30, 1956. He worked for Goodyear Proving Grounds as a driver for 30 years. During this time, he received the award for “one million miles with no accidents”. He retired from Goodyear and became an active member of the Goodyear retiree group.
In his retired years, he helped his son with the farm and he and Virginia enjoyed blue grass music. They made life-long friends travelling to the Llano Country Opry and other blue grass festivals in the area. In later years, he joined the Wall 88 Club where we are told he was the life of the party. He loved playing dominoes with friends and family and thought the 88 club was the best thing to happen in Wall. He also enjoyed shelling pecans, his own and for others, and turned his kid’s old playhouse into the “Nut House”.
Boley loved his children and grandchildren. They were truly the light of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Virginia, and his sisters, Elaine Boykin, Ann Lossing, and Daisy Mikeska.
He is survived by his son Barry and wife Denise, daughter Elliott and her husband Ricky Menchaca, and grandchildren Matthew Brodnax, Savanna Daniel, Clayton Daniel and his girlfriend Macy Gully, and Preston Menchaca. He is also survived by his sisters Doris Yeary, Gena Perry and her husband Kenneth, Fannie Murphy, and Linda Day and her husband Curtis, and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank Kayla Rubio of Angels Home Health for going above and beyond caring for Dad.
No services will be held at this time due to the large number of COVID cases. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals for the Elderly, House of Faith, or your favorite charity.
We will miss our loving father and grandfather and the many stories he told.
