MIDLAND, TX – Energy Company Innovex was denied a shipment of North Face Jackets from The North Face clothing company after Innovex did not meet the company's brand standards.
According to CBS7, on Dec. 10 Innovex CEO Adam Anderson sent a letter to the popular clothing company, The North Face, telling them the importance of the Oil and Gas industry in the modern world.
Anderson sent the four page letter after North Face denied his request to have around 400 custom made jackets sent to him to hand out to his employees for Christmas gifts.
North Face allegedly denied the request because Innovex did not meet "brand standards." Anderson says it is because they are an oil and gas company.
“The recreational activities they encourage are all ones that require hydrocarbons to make the products, to provide the means to get to whatever activity folks want to perform,” said Anderson. “It’s just so intertwined with everything that we do.”
The North Face-Branded Products Terms and Conditions states "Also, The North Face is an environmentally-conscious and socially and politically aware brand and reserves the right to prohibit logos, emblems, and designs that, in its sole and absolute discretion, run counter to, or are inconsistent with, its brand identity."
Meaning that the North Faces's political awareness, or wokeness, will keep 400 employees of Innovex from wearing a new North Face jacket for Christmas.
Anderson still managed to get the jackets but used another clothing company more appreciative of the oil and gas industry. A number of other companies make similar outdoor wear including Ariat, Carhart, and Cinch.

I just checked The North Face's website to check on the price of their jackets. Lowest price I saw was $99.00. Times 400 jackets, that's around $39,600 minimum (probably an extra charge for the company logo) and that's just if he was getting the lowest priced jackets. The North Face is part of a publicly traded corporation, I wonder how their stockholders feel about the loss of such a large sale.
