COLORADO CITY— Hailey Dunn's alleged killer has been released from jail Tuesday.
Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Shawn Adkins was released from the Mitchell County Jail two years after he was arrested for the murder of 10-year-old Hailey Dunn. The murder and tampering with evidence charges against Adkins have been dropped due to lack of evidence.
Dunn left her home in December 2010 and went missing from there. Human remains were found in Scurry County at Lake JB Thomas three years later. Adkins was dating Dunn’s mother at the time.
The Facebook page “Who Killed Hailey Dunn” did say that the FBI asked for the charges to be dropped against Adkins.
