DPS Seeks Help in Solving Murder of Hailey Dunn

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes Investigation Team are asking for the public's help in solving the murder of 13 year old Hailey Dunn of Colorado City, said a press release Wednesday.

Hailey left her mother's house to go to a friend's house on Dec. 27, 2010, but never arrived and was reported missing. Her body was found near Lake J.B. Thomas in Scurry County on March 16, 2013.

Hailey was an 8th grade student at Colorado City Middle School in Mitchell County at the time of her disappearance. She was active in cheerleading, sports, and band.

Anyone with information about this unsolved case can also submit a tip through the Texas Rangers' Cold Case website or contact the Missing Persons Clearinghouses at 1-800-346-3243.

According to the press release, the Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes Investigation Team was created to assist Texas law enforcement agencies investigating unsolved murders or what appear to be serial or linked criminal transactions. Since there is no statute of limitations for the offense of murder, investigators pursue these cases to a successful resolution; or until no other lead is viable.
