Jimmie Lee Dunham

03/07/2022 - 08:29 , by TKing09

Jimmie Lee Dunham was born on April 28, 1928 in Seminole, OK to Fred and Electa Dunham. He resided in OK for thirty-two years. He met and later married Edith McKee on June 28, 1947. Together with her they raised four children.

When he was sixteen he took a trip to Texas and worked hard in Odessa to earn a dollar. He was only there for a short time before returning to Oklahoma and working as a laborer and truck driver for King Transfer. He did not graduate from high school but he worked his way through Sinclair Oil and Gas, later ARCO Company, and retired as a plant supervisor. He and Edith spent many years owning Kiddie Korner daycare center in San Angelo, where he built most of the playground equipment and cabinets. He retired in 1984 and he and his wife traveled to Europe and Hawaii and enjoyed working and helping to restore his friends old vehicles in his shop. Later Jim and Edith owned a pilot car service and escorted wide loads all over the US. Edith has always been his copilot reading the road maps and pouring his coffee. They loved to spend time together traveling to places such as Branson, Virgina, Niagara Falls and Mount Rushmore.

In 1974 Jim purchased a 1936 Ford Truck from a salvage yard in Goodwell, OK. In 1976 they moved to their current residence where he built a large shop where he spent five years restoring the ‘36 Ford. He was a member of the V8 Club and the antique car club as well the square dance club. As members of the car club they traveled all over central US participating in national meets where he won awards in antique truck class. Over the years he served as past president of V8 and antique car clubs. He was often seen driving in many local parades with children often waving from the back. Many memories were made with this truck and frequent trips to Whataburger.

While residing in Oklahoma he was active in the First Christian Church of Seminole, OK and later a long time member of Grace Temple Baptist Church of San Angelo, TX. Jim loved to attend Angelo State sporting events and many other campus activities. He enjoyed when his family and friends gathered together for BBQ’s and holidays. He was always at the center of the table telling a new joke or a questioning riddle. His children and grandchildren were his biggest and greatest joy.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 75 years, Edith Loraine Dunham. His children Linda Coats and husband Moose, Judy Hiebeler, Connie Brown and husband Danny, Bryan Chet Dunham, and Kayla Dunham. CAR OF THE MONTH

Jimmie Dunham's 1936 Ford Pickup

Jim Dunham, a past president of our Antique Car Club, and a close friend to many in the club, is the owner of a 1936 Ford Pickup. Jim's daughter called him and told him this truck could be purchased. Jim bought this black pickup in 1971 at Goodwell, OK for $600. The original owner was in the scrap metal business and had used the truck around the scrap yard. It was in bad shape, but all original at the time of Jim's purchase.

At the time Jim obtained the truck, the odometer registered about 25,000 miles. Jim assumed it had probably had 125,000 total miles. After five years and a ground up restoration, Jim has a beautiful original 1936 Ford "Flathead" pickup. The only modification that was not original, are the hydraulic brakes. In the past 25 years, Jim has driven this truck about 25,000 miles in parades and tours.

Jesse A. Buchanan

03/07/2022 - 08:23 , by TKing09

Jesse A Buchanan went to his final resting place February 27,2022 surrounded by his family at the young age of 82. He was born September 17,1939 to Raymond Buchanan and Oneada Robertson Buchanan in Midland Texas. Waiting for him to come into the world also was his sister Doris Buchanan. From stories told she spoiled him rotten.

Jesse went to school in Odessa Texas. While trying to figure out his journey in life he found his way to Childress Texas, where in 1960 he went to work on the Buckle L Ranch for Mr. Lundon. Oh, the stories we herd of his cowboy days. He was a true cowboy at heart. The way his eyes light up when telling his cowboy stories told it all. This was his passion until he was drafted into the Army in 1963. He was active duty until 1965 in which he transferred to the Army Reserves until 1969, when he was honorably discharged. He was a Sharpshooter (rifle M-1), Expert (rifle M-14) and received the Good Conduct Medal. During part of his stay in the Army he was stationed in Okinawa. While in the Reserves he met and married the love of his life Geneva Mayo. They married March 11,1967 in Childress, Texas, and were married until her passing in 2014. They were unable to have children of their own, but at the time of marriage Geneva had a 6, year old daughter which he legally adopted and raised as his own. He was an amazing father and provider.

Jesse then moved his family to Albuquerque New Mexico where they resided until 1971 when they moved to Fort Worth Texas. While in Fort Worth he owned his own business Bucks Tops, where he made and installed Formica countertops. In 1981 he had the opportunity to further his business and moved to Midland Texas. When the business slowed down, he made the decision to go to work for Ranger/Woodruff Drywall where he worked for many, many years. He then went into the oilfield in 2004 where he was a road truck driver for TMBR Sharp/Patterson Drilling where he stayed until his retirement in 2008. In 2014 after the passing of his wife he moved with his daughter and son-in law to San Angelo Texas, until his passing. After retirement he enjoyed and loved spending time with family, going fishing, and watching his westerns. John Wayne was his man! Waiting at the pearly gates for his arrival was his beloved wife of 52 years Geneva Mayo Buchanan, his parents Raymond Buchanan, Oneada Buchanan Mitchell, stepdad Rad Mitchell, his Sister Doris Buchanan Swinney, and brother-in-law Bill Swinney. There were many more, so we know there was one heck of a reunion.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter Jeanie Buchanan Branch and husband Donald, 3 grandsons, Chris Buchanan and wife Jessica, Michael Branch, and Derrick Smith. 3 great granddaughters, Skylar Buchanan, Ashton Ledford, and Emmah Buchanan, sister-in law Donna Burns and husband Steve. Many Nieces, Nephews, Uncles, Aunts, and cousins. So thankful for the all the wonderful memories which we will always remember and cherish. Honoring a loved one's wishes is really hard, but the family agreed to do so. Jesse wanted to be cremated with no services. He wanted to be taken to his favorite fishing hole which is what we are doing. When the weather warms up, we will take him fishing one last time. Please hug your loved ones tight.
