Alfredo Andreas Escobedo, Sr.

Alfredo "Fred" Escobedo, Sr., 84 passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in Abilene.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM Monday, January 31, 2022, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Graveside service will be at 2:00 Monday, January 31, 2022, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Jesse Aguirre, officiating under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Escobedo was born March 13, 1937 in Fort Worth to Hilario and Ida Escobedo. Fred has been a resident of Abilene since 2000 moving from San Angelo. Fred was a machinist for Epely Enterprises, Reed Tool Company, Monarch Tile, Smith Bit Co., and B.W. Foundry retiring in 1994. In his younger years he loved baseball. Fred played for the San Angelo Colts. He enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers play on tv. The family remembers lying on the living room floor listing to the Los Angeles Dodgers on the radio. His favorite player was Fernando Valenzula. He loved baseball so much he used to umpire Little League. He also loved to play mariachi music. He played the guitar in the Rondalla group Los Bohemios. Of all the jobs he had the one he took most pride in is being a grandpa. He was their "BomBom. He would pick up his grandkids from school and taking them the corner stores.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Escobedo of San Angelo, and Freddie Escobedo and wife Jackie of Abilene; a daughter, Terri Rodriguez of San Angelo; 10 grandchildren, Danny, Crystal, Stephanie, Steven, Christian, Colby, Cindy, Alfredo III, Brittany, and Rick; 13 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Edith Chavez; a granddaughter, Krystal; and 10 siblings.

Saul Jordan Mancha

Saul Jordan Mancha, Sr., 81, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Mancha was born December 25, 1940 in Ocampo Coahuila Mexico to Jose and Josefina Mancha. Saul married Rose Mascorro on April 15, 1967 in Acuna, Mexico. He has been a resident of San Angelo since 1974. Saul work in construction for Reece Albert Inc., CSA Materials, and Yates and Sons. Saul loved to work and sitting outside relaxing.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa Maria of the home; four sons, Saul Mancha, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Greenville, Tennessee, Jose Mancha, David Mancha, and Alejandro Mancha all of San Angelo; two daughters, Dahlia Mancha, and Lorena Mancha both of San Angelo; a brother, Jose Mancha of Saltillo, Mexico; and six grandchildren. Saul was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Consuelo Mancha, Carmen Flores Mancha, and Estella Mancha.

Pedro Cruz Picon

Pedro C. Picon, 78, of San Angelo, Texas passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord on Friday, January 28, 2022. Rosary will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 6pm at Harper Funeral Chapel, 2606 Southland Blvd., San Angelo, Texas. Burial mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 20 E. Beauregard Ave., San Angelo, Texas at 10:00am on Friday, February 4, 2022. 

Pedro was born on January 5, 1944, in Eden, Texas to Monico and Belen Picon, who precede him in death. He resided and spent the majority of his childhood in Ballinger, Texas. 

Pedro is survived by his wife Kay. He is also survived by his daughters Debbie Pena and Husband Rudy of Ballinger, Texas; Dee Picon of San Francisco, California; JoAnn Winkler and husband Keith of Carlsbad, California; and son Gary Picon and wife Tyna of Abilene, Texas, as well as the mother of his children, Beatrice Aguero. He is also survived by his grandchildren Andrew Pena, Kevin Pena and wife Kristin, Chase Winkler, Courtney Winkler, Gordon Picon and Danica Picon, and 2 great grandchildren Kasen and Karter Pena. 

He also leaves his sisters Rosa Cortez, of San Angelo, Texas; Tina Martinez of Arlington, Texas; Josie Sanchez of San Antonio, Texas; and Cathy Aguero of San Angelo, Texas; and brother Nick Picon of San Angelo, Texas. 

Pedro worked a number of years for TXDOT in Ballinger, Texas. He later worked for Goodyear Proving Grounds where he retired after 30 years. He enjoyed traveling and watching westerns on TV. He especially enjoyed the visits with family and his children. Pedro left a legacy of love for his family and it will carry through generations and his presence will be missed beyond measure. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Shannon Hospital and Shannon Hospice for their care in making dad’s final moments peaceful and comfortable. We are grateful for your compassion and constant assistance. 

Though our hearts miss you, we carry the memories of your smile and laugher in our hearts. Thank you, Daddy, for being the best father to us. Life will not be the same without you and you won’t ever be forgotten.

Matthew Daniel Housley

Matthew Daniel Housley, age 46, of San Angelo, TX passed away from this earth on January 27, 2022, in San Angelo. He was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend. He had many friends and never met a stranger.  

Matt was born in Jonesboro, AR on July 13, 1975, to Edward and Marsha Housley. He grew up on the farm in Jonesboro, AR, until the age of 8, making many memories with his cousins and getting into lots of mischief. The family moved to San Angelo in 1984 and Matt graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1994 and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Texas at Dallas. In 1995, Matt moved to Dallas and started working for Housley Communications on the construction crew. He worked his way up at Housley Communications to become a Vice President, having 28 years of service.  

Matt loved to hunt and fish with his dad and son. He was a proud father and had many cherished memories with his son Grayson. He served on the boards of West Texas Boys Ranch and Sonrisas Trails. Being active on the San Angelo Rodeo Committee brought Matt much joy and was a major reason he loved being a resident of San Angelo after living in Wylie, TX for 19 years. He was a long-time member of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church where he served as an usher.  

He is survived by his fiancé Mary Butler, son Grayson Housley, parents Edward and Marsha Housley, Sister Heidi Williams and husband Jacob, niece Jody Carson, nephews Joshua Williams, Will Carson and Luke Williams, great niece Knoxley Carson, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved dog Copper. 

The visitation will be on Monday, January 31, 2022, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Harper Funeral Home. His funeral service will be on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 11:00AM at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church and the burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. 

Memorials can be made to West Texas Boys Ranch, Sonrisas, or Sierra Vista United Methodist Church.

Lawrence Frank Pelzel

Lawrence Frank Pelzel passed away on January 27, 2022. Lawrence was the second child born to Louis Pelzel Sr. and Mary Moeller Pelzel in Rowena, Texas on April 27, 1927. Lawrence married Iola Carruthers in 1976 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, Texas. He was a devoted Catholic and long-time member of St. Ambrose Church. 


Lawrence loved dancing, playing clarinet and guitar in the Pelzel Polka Band, and listening to polka music. He was known to all the nieces and nephews in the family as “Uncle Lolly” due to his jovial personality and kindred spirit. 


Lawrence began his farming career in 1957, in the Vancourt area of Texas, after honorable discharge from the United States Army. After retiring from farming, he worked another 16 years for Standard Testing Labs, an automotive tire durability testing facility, in San Angelo, Texas. 


Lawrence was the last surviving child of Louis Sr. and Mary Pelzel. He will be missed by all his nieces, nephews, and friends at Rio Concho Manor. 


Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Iola, his parents Louis Sr. and Mary Pelzel, his older brother, Leroy Pelzel, and his sister-in-law Elaine Lange Pelzel, his sister Gladys Pelzel Braden, and brother-in-law Clifton Braden, and his younger brother Louis Pelzel Jr., and sister-in-law Diana Broz Pelzel. 


A rosary will be held at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas at 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 30, 2022. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 31, 2022, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, Texas. Interment will follow at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery. 


Pallbearers for the service will be Aaron Braden, Alan Pelzel, Curtis Pelzel, Michael Pelzel, Richard Pelzel, and Pat Pelzel. Dennis Braden will serve as honorary pallbearer. 


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. Ambrose Cemetery Fund, Meals for the Elderly, The West Texas Boys Ranch, or a charity of your choice.

Dawn Ann White

Dawn Ann White passed away on January 25, 2022, at the age of 85. She was born on February 2, 1936, in San Angelo, Texas to Dilmus and Lorena Teague. She was the youngest of seven children. 

She married the love of her life Edgar Lee “Eddie” White, Sr. in January 1954 and gave birth to her pride and joy Edgar Lee “Stinky” White, Jr. in 1955. She was a floral designer and she and Eddie owned Dawn’s House of Flowers. She was a long-time member of Lakeview Baptist Church. 

Dawn Ann was preceded in death by her husband Eddie, her parents and one grandson Jared Heath White, as well as her siblings Gene, F.A., Button, George, Esther “Sis” Bradford and Alma Cryer. 

She is survived by her son Edgar “Stinky” and his wife Nancy McCleery White, her granddaughter Joshlyn Matthews (Truman) and their children Ayden and Autumn, her grandson Seth White and his daughter Sara, her sister-in-law Sally Teague, her brother-in-law Jim White (Linda) and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022, at 2:00PM at Fairmount Cemetery. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Rebecca "Becky" Moya, 92, San Angelo passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at home.
Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM Thursday, January 27, 2022, until service time on Friday.


Prayer services will be at 6:00 PM Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Javier Santos, pastor at Church of the Bread of Life, officiating.


Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 28, 2022, at Belvedere Memorial Park with Pastor Javier Santos, pastor at Church of the Bread of Life, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Directors.


Mrs. Moya was born on November 16, 1929, in San Angelo to Santiago and Juana Reyna Aguirre. Becky graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School. She married Saul Moya and he passed away in 2004. Becky was a secretary and a substitute teacher for the San Angelo Independent School District. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, and sewing. Becky also loved to volunteer at church. The Aguirre family is very grateful and appreciates the staff at Concho Hearts Hospice in San Angelo for the wonderful and loving care given to Rebecca in her last years of life.


She was preceded in death by a brother, Juan Aguirre; and two nephews, John Aguirre, Jr. and Fernando Aguirre.


Survivors include her sister, Selia Barron of San Angelo; her brother, Frank Aguirre of San Angelo; two nieces, Sylvia Aguirre of San Antonio and Cynthia Radi of Jordan; four nephews, Richard Aguirre and wife Rosa Linda of San Antonio, Frank Aguirre, Jr. and wife Norma of San Angelo, Chris Barron and Ezequiel Barron, both of San Angelo.

Mr. Romo was born on July 15, 1984, in San Angelo. Jacob graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 2003 and attended Angelo State University. He was a loan officer at Security Finance in San Angelo and then at Chase Bank and Sun Loan Finance in San Antonio. Jacob enjoyed playing tennis, cheering on his Green Bay Packers, watching the Golden Girls, and reading. He also loved spending time with his besties, Lety and Lisa. If you talk to his family or friends, they will tell you how much he loved his mother.


Jacob is preceded in death by a nephew Xavier Rivas; an aunt, Mary Lou Guerrero; and two uncles, Antonio Romo and Albert Romo.


Survivors include his spouse, Thom Biggs of San Antonio; his parents, Petra Apodaca and Ernesto H. Romo, Sr., both of San Angelo; his sister, Alexandra Palacio of San Angelo; two nieces, Miranda Lara and Anthony of Ballinger, Myrella Luna of San Angelo; a nephew, Francisco Palacio of San Angelo; a great niece, Mila Lara; three great nephews, Esteban Luna, Anthony Lara, and Adrian Lara; five aunts, Tonie Martinez and husband Adan of San Angelo, Estella Abalos of Odessa, Linda Alvarado of San Angelo, Olga Lopez and husband Jose of Arlington, and Consuelo Lopez and husband Alejandro of San Angelo; three uncles, Max Guerrero and wife Mary Lou of San Angelo, Jesus H. Romo of Eldorado, and Benito Romo of San Angelo; and numerous cousins and friends.

Kimberly Kay Burney, 56, of San Angelo passed away Friday January 21, 2022 at home.

No services are planned at this time. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Ms. Burney was born on March 4, 1965 in Tachikawa, Japan to Jerry and Marlene Roach Keaton. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Kimberly will be missed and loved by her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Johnson; and two brothers, Michael Holt and Ronald Holt.

Kimberly is survived by two daughters, Amanda Burney and Ashley Burney both of San Angelo; a son Jeremy Keaton of San Angelo; three grandchildren, Rhyder Mackey of Lubbock, Ashtyn Burney and Byntlee Lohse both of San Angelo.
