Crane Carolyn Sue

Carolyn Crane, 50, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019, in San Angelo.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Miss Crane was born November 14, 1968, in Fort Hood. Carolyn graduated from Goliad High School and attended Victoria College for a short time before moving to Austin. She was bright and outgoing, whose strong personality fought for her rights. She later moved to Lubbock and there met Scott Conner, who provided long years of care giving with love. During her battle with endometrial cancer, Scott and Carolyn moved back to his hometown of Del Rio where his parents gave support. A final move to San Angelo occurred when Scott was given a great job opportunity and for a time Carolyn's health was maintained. Her final time was made better by her special care giver, Savannah, and special friends, Missy and Leslie. Carolyn-beauty in a rocky place.

Survivors include her parents, Gary and Alicia Cowley of Goliad; her beloved partner, Scott Conner of the home; two brothers, Robert Pate of New Braunfels and John Cowley of Victoria; two sisters, Amanda Byrd of LaVernia and Denise of Oklahoma. Carolyn was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Mr & Mrs Ervin Cowley; maternal grandparents, Mr & Mrs John Lott; her biological mother, Joyce; and a brother, Johnny.

Johnston David R

David R. Johnston, 54, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2019 in Eden, Texas. David was born October 1, 1965 in Dallas, Texas to Jerry Leon Johnston, Sr. and Linda Lou Smith Johnston. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1984. After high school, he attended Angelo State University where he received his Associate Degree in Nursing. He worked as a Registered Nurse in San Angelo and Austin in various fields including oncology and clinical research. He was passionate about the wellbeing of his patients and had an incredible bedside manner which allowed him to care for his patients on a personal level. He later returned to Angelo State to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and his Master’s Degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology. In his spare time, he was an avid movie buff and enjoyed watching movies of all kinds. His favorites of all time were the Star Wars motion pictures. He was also a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. He was very intrigued by politics, and would always be sure to present his opinion, relentlessly debating with those who disagreed. He was interested in many topics and loved reading books and magazines, especially those about science. David was a loving son, brother and father, who was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them. His compassion for others, his love for family and friends, and his incredible sense of humor will remain in our hearts forever. David was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Johnston. He is survived by his father, Jerry Leon Johnston, Sr., of Palestine, TX; his sons, Matthew Johnston, of San Angelo and William Johnston, of San Antonio; his brother, Jerry Leon Johnston, Jr. and his wife Debra, of Keller, TX; three nephews, Jeremy, Joshua and Michael Johnston; and close friends, Johnny Walker and wife Sheri, of Mertzon, TX. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Harper Funeral Home. David’s family wishes to thank the staff at Concho Health and Rehabilitation Center, Solaris Hospice, and the ER and 6h floor staff at Shannon Medical Center for their care and unyielding compassion during his illness.

Peiser James Edward

James Edward Peiser, 89, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019, at his home.

Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, November 1, 2019, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Burial will follow at Mullins Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Peiser was born March 10, 1930, at 6 Mile Crossing near Veribest. James was a veteran of the US Army. He was a lifelong resident of the Veribest and San Angelo communities. He married Dorothy Shannon on July 24, 1976, in San Angelo. She preceded him in death on September 9, 2013. James worked at West Texas Utilities for 39 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Veribest United Methodist Church. James was a member of the WTU Blown Fuses Retirement Group. He was able to attend their last meeting and always enjoyed seeing everyone. James liked tinkering around the house and working on antique riding lawnmowers. He used his carpentry skills to build decorative furniture items and bird houses.

James is survived by his daughter, Renee' Peiser of Irving; special friends, Jamie and Kerry Rainey of San Angelo; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe Jasso Zapata, 70, of San Angelo, TX, passed away October 29, 2019. He was born in San Angelo, TX on March 23, 1949. Joe was married to Elida T. Zapata on June 9, 1966. He worked in construction for Reece Albert and as a mechanic for himself. Joe was a member of House of Restoration Church and had a passion for music and organization. He is survived by his wife Elida Zapata; sons, Vincent Zapata, Raymond Zapata and Jerry Zapata; grandchildren, Stephanie Zapata and Alizee Zapata; brothers and sisters, Mary Castaneda, Elodia Rios, Margaret Herrera, Paul Zapata, Diana Zapata, Ernest Zapata and Cynthia Zapata. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2019 in the chapel of Johnson’s Funeral Home with burial to follow at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Dunn Rita Faye

Rita Faye Salvato Dunn, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 29, 2019, at the age of 67. Memorial services will be 2:00pm Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Robert Massie Funeral Home Chapel.

Rita was born in San Angelo, Texas, on July 20, 1952, to Felix and Dorothy McClelland Salvato. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Roland Dickinson.

She is survived by her love, Daniel Dunn; her siblings Nancy Salvato Fontenot, Travis Salvato, Felix Salvato, and Charlie Salvato; her children Teresa Estes and Stephanie Skinner; her grandchildren Karena Mills, Richard Dickinson III, Steven Mills, and Jamie Skinner; her great-granddaughter Emily Dickinson, great-grandson Kai Dickinson, many nieces and nephews, and extended family.

Rita was always outgoing and friendly but tough as nails. She worked for many years in north-side bars such as Levi’s, Log Cabin, and Ouida’s Lounge. She was quick to lend an ear to and help anyone in need. She enjoyed socializing and spending time with friends and family until her first stroke in her early 50s. She then became reclusive and fearful and after a second stroke about a year later, rarely left her home. Her ex-husband, Danny, was a constant companion and caregiver. Rita’s health declined further this past year, and her family is grateful for the care given by Hospice of San Angelo. Special thanks to caregiver Linda, always there when needed, and Madison with whom Rita developed a close bond.

Perez Erasmo Gatica

Erasmo Gatica Perez, 80, passed away Monday, October 29, 2019, in San Angelo after a courageous fight with kidney and heart disease.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM, with the Rosary at 6:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 31, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Perez was born November 25, 1938 in Bastrop, to parents, Jesus and Pomposa Perez. Erasmo married Eva Garivay June 13, 1958 at Saint Mary Catholic Church they were married for 62 years. Erasmo worked for Gandy's Diaries for 34 years as a machine operator. After retirement, he enjoyed doing machine work, traveling, fishing, electrical work, music, dancing and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren especially his daughter and son, always welcoming them with hugs and kisses. Erasmo will be greatly missed.

He is survived by wife, Eva; a daughter, Cindy Perez Constanico and husband Mike; a son, Edward and his wife Annette; eight grandchildren, Michael Constancio and wife Ester, Marcus Constancio, Jennifer Constancio, Christopher Perez, Angelicia Falcon, Andrew Perez, Valerie Shaffer, Jordan Perez and wife Victoria; 13 great grandchildren, Michael David Constancio, Jilliyan Estrada, Kyla Constancio, Kendall Constancio, Kaki Constancio, Jewel Cleere, Jabyan Cleere, Isabella Perez, Sophia Perez, Emmett Perez, Ciara Perez, Elijah Perez; three brothers, Jesus Perez, Fidel Perez, Andrew Perez; two sisters; Ofelia Bastardo and Erma Martinez. Erasmo is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, James Perez.

The family would like to thank everyone who cared for him, Dr. Cheruku, Dr. Bensliman, Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Slimack and Dr. Parhizgar, nurses of the 4th floor south, 6th floor north at Shannon Medical Center. Also, a special thanks for the love and support from Sylvia Garivay, Mary Ann Flores and George Flores.
