A split San Angelo City Council Tuesday denied the requests of six business owners to take Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone funding from the Lake View or northern TIRZ zone to use on projects in the southern TIRZ zone over the recommendation of the TIRZ board of directors.
Only in San Angelo is a gigantic downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone, or TIRZ, split in half to satisfy the political “Northside vs. Southside” divide.
The consumer price index, a broad measure of everyday goods and services related to the cost of living, soared 9.1% from a year ago, above the 8.8% Dow Jones estimate. That marked the fastest pace for inflation going back to November 1981.
