A head-on collision between a gray Hummer H2 and a motorcycle at the Houston Hart frontage and Sherwood Way this evening left the motorcyclist with a broken arm.
Officer Herrington with the San Angelo Police Department said, “Call notes indicated that a motorcycle was involved [in the accident], and a female subject was laying on the ground. San Angelo Fire Department was first on scene, followed shortly by the Police Department.”

Herrington mentioned that after investigating the scene, the driver of the Hummer was traveling eastbound on Sherwood Way and about to make a north turn onto the Houston Heart frontage road, while the motorcycle traveled westbound on Sherwood Way. The Hummer failed to yield right of way turning left onto the frontage road and caused the crash, Herrington said.
After the crash, three lanes were blocked heading westbound on Sherwood Way.
Herrington mentioned that several independent witnesses confirmed the events that took place, with one of those individuals being a member of the San Angelo Fire Department.
The driver of the motorcycle did sustain a broken arm and minor facial injuries. Herrington said he believed, at this time, the injuries are not life threatening, and the investigation will be handled by the patrol division. A follow-up investigation will be conducted at Shannon Medical Center to confirm the condition of the motorcyclist.
The driver of the Hummer received a citation for failure to yield right of way turning left.

Pay attention drivers! Wreck after wreck occurs because of failure to yield. Open your eyes and maintain your circle of awareness. I ride a big motorcycle. If you don't see me that's your fault. If you hit me, come within reach and you'll wish you hadn't. I'm EXTREMELY careful when I ride. You should be also. Quit trying to beat motorcycles to make a turn. Use your head. Slow down, don't speed up!
