STAMFORD, TX — A San Antonio woman was killed, and two other people were injured Wednesday evening when a driver failed to stop at a stop sign at a rural Jones County intersection, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported.
Isolda C. Roblejo Popa, 33, of San Antonio, died after the two-vehicle crash at State Highway 92 and Farm-to-Market Road 1661, 8 miles east of Stamford. She was a passenger in a 2025 Toyota Corolla.
The crash occurred at about 6 p.m. under clear skies and on dry roads. The posted speed limit was 75 mph.
A preliminary DPS investigation found the Corolla was traveling north on FM 1661 approaching the intersection. A 2018 Toyota Camry was traveling west on SH 92 and had the right of way. The Corolla’s driver failed to stop at the posted stop sign and entered the intersection, where the Camry struck it.
The Corolla’s driver, Milena Sueiro Ramirez, 29, of San Antonio, and the Camry’s driver, David Eric Rivera, 34, of Stanton, were taken to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene with injuries. A passenger in the Camry, Ricky Tijerina, 24, of Stanton, was uninjured.
None of the four occupants was wearing a seat belt, DPS stated.
Roblejo Popa was pronounced deceased at about 8 p.m. at the hospital by Justice of the Peace Shawna Joiner.
